i love these idiots. happy new year wherever you are, locked tomb fandom!

It's like every new sentence in that answer gets me more wtf and curious. If I could stomach first and second person reads I would give it a go to understand wth is going on. Thanks for taking the time!

Be careful cuz if I see a chance to convince someone to read gtn I will take it. For example, the first book is third person, it’s just the second book that has pov shenanigans. (It’s also not as good as the first unfortunately). The plot of the first book isn’t that complicated either, it’s about 8 pairs of necromancer/bodyguard  getting together to compete in a necromancy tournament and then getting caught up in a haunted house murder mystery in space.

Also, these are Gideon and Harrow:

I still can't get over the fact that they're actual nuns. Also is the competition more hunger games like or triwizard tournament like?

Well they’re nuns of a made up space goth religion and also one of them is an absolute heathen and the other is in love with the space goth antichrist, but yeah they wear their sacramental face paint and cultivate an aura of pious mystique. Hmm it’s like hunger games in that there are different houses, each with its own schtick, and it’s like triwizard in that it’s basically a bunch of escape rooms and there’s surprise murder at the end. Idk the plot’s not really the draw for me, the draw is definitely the humor and the writing and the Gideon Nav

for context, the asks about finishing htn and the pov shift were both from me, the same person

Oh man how about that pov shift tho????? When that first “me” hit I was out of my fucking mind. By the time we got to full on first person I was bawling. Also I’ve just been thinking about this a lot, especially after watching Bly Manor with the reveal at the end that the gardener was the storyteller when the actual story we experienced as an audience so obviously centered on Dani, experienced from her eyes, with Jamie cast as a side character. Just the idea of a narrator telling the story from her lover’s point of view is incredibly striking, this erosion of the self in the face of observing somebody else, and bringing that person to life through the telling. It’s Gideon’s story, but she’s made it Harrow’s. And if you look back, there are plenty of moments where she’d peeked through, like every single time Harrow referred to the pommel by other descriptions, that was Gideon correcting her. All sorts of little reactions and teasing and jokes and even reassurances that Harrow of course had no way of perceiving. A lot of people dislike the “second person” perspective but imo it’s one of the best, coolest, most emotional elements of this book.

i love gideon's stupid dumb face twitter(.)com/BS_artsss/status/1353137738342559745?s=20

I love her dumb face!!! Look at that smirk!! Sharp lil incisor! Harrow’s distasteful grimace! They look so cool I love em. Also this is honestly such a good moment that always gives me so many feelings to think about. Harrow backing Gideon up unquestioningly for the first time. Not a word passed between them, but finally, perfect understanding. Gideon and Harrow in synchronicity are a marvel. Maybe we’ll get to see it again sometime

I had one more commission done by @nocerealmilk.

One of my favorite moments from Act 5 of Harrow the Ninth!
