I like to imagine that the first thing Harrow will do when she sees Gideon again is immediately kiss her square on the mouth. However, I also like to imagine this will happen in the most stupid and frustrating way possible, meaning that Harrow will be in the Body’s body and end up kissing the Body, who’s in Gideon’s body, while Gideon in Harrow’s body watches in abject heartbreak, convinced that Harrow is aware that her creepy freeze dried beloved is squatting in Gideon’s beautiful biceps, while in reality Harrow scoped only a slice of sculpted muscles and ginger hair before going ‘fuck yeah, there’s my dance partner’ and laying one on her.
For her part, the Body is just looking at Camilla with puppy eyes like ’??? what do????’
did some important scientific research and counted every time someone says ‘fuck’ in the locked tomb series. huge props to awake remembrance of these valiant dead for having the greatest saying-fuck-to-screentime ratio out of anyone.
Pour one out for Gideon Nav she would’ve loved Hawaiian shirts
gtn au where everything’s the same except gideon goes to canaan house wearing a hawaiian shirt instead of her aviators lmfao
and then in htn when gideon comes back in harrows body, ianthe hands her a package with the “one flesh, one end” note and gideon opens it up and inside is her tacky hawaiian shirt, bloodstained with a ripped hole through the middle of it from the iron spike—
Gideon being called Gideon in English: cool futuristic butch crushing gender roles under the heavy pommel of her big fuck-off sword. Gideon being called גדעון in Hebrew: little wrinkly old man. An elderly fellow with a little hat. Literally my grandfather
me, waking up in a cold sweat at 3am: but why did tamsyn muir spend multiple pages establishing that pyrrha dve was the hottest woman to walk the face of the planets? why did tamsyn, the author who is on record saying that she would rather write less and risk people missing plot points, write in testimonials from multiple lyctors and g*d himself to hammer home that pyrrha was hotter than a thousand suns??? why is pyrrha, a minor character so far, described this way when we barely get to see in the books and when we do see her, she’s in someone else’s body??? why are her looks so important that we needed an extremely awkward narrative break to dissect them? WHAT ARE YOU PLANNING, TAMSYN MUIR?
that one post that’s like “orpheus turns around and eurydice isn’t mad because she knows she is loved.” htn is the opposite of that. harrow is an orpheus who adamantly refuses to turn around, and because of that gideon doesn’t know that harrow loves her.
hello i just wanted to say thanks for putting gideon the ninth on my feed!! ive noticed it over the past year+ish here on tumblr from you and ive just read the first book yesterday and i cant stop thinking about it!! im gonna read harrow within the next day or two and im very sad and very nervous but very excited!!
You’re in for a ride! I can’t promise you it will be a particularly fun or exciting ride mind you, but it will sure have several twists and turns and bumps and some very steep drops and at the end you get handed a very big cotton candy sugar rush as a participation prize, I promise
OH MY GOD. just got to the “cue” harrow needed to leave that dinner LMFAAOOOO poor harrowww!!
Lmao you really hit all the highlights! The first “me”, the threesome, the fanfic aus, the terrible, terrible memes. Loved this little liveblog.
In case you’re craving some fanfic, check out some of my favorite authors: pipistrelle, zoicite, BonesforTime, igneousbitch, corpsesoldier, jpnadia (just pick whatever looks interesting, they’re all a total blast. If you liked Harrow’s fanfic aus, pipistrelle and zoicite have got you covered). And check out my number 1 favorite tlt fanfic of all time by UnseelieWench, a college roommates au where they fight robots with laser swords. Also for some non-shippy heartbreak (and heart mending), this au by IShipThem where Pyrrha sees ten year old Gideon and Harrow, immediately clocks that zero parenting has been done here, and steps the fuck up.
Fandom: The Locked Tomb Pairing: Gideon Nav/Harrowhark Nonagesimus Rating: M Tags: alternate universe - canon divergence, secret identity, slow burn, emotional manipulation, suicidal ideation (both gideon and harrow bc they have issues), canon-typical violence
“Take more care in the future, Lieutenant,” the embodiment of all evil said like she was chastising an errant toddler. “It can be dangerous down here. There are some depths even I haven’t probed.”
“That’s what she said,” Gideon blurted.
Summary: Gideon enters the House of the Ninth for the first time when she is eighteen years old. She has a sword, an alias, and a mission. She needs to win the Reverend Daughter’s trust if she’s going to make her way into the depths of Drearburh and free the monster chained there. But Harrowhark Nonagesimus is cagey and haunted and, frankly, kind of a bitch. The Ninth House is a nest of horrors poised to swallow her whole. And Gideon is off the leash for the first time in her life, with everything resting on her success.
