I have no idea what the hell gideon the ninth is and im betting it's some kind of fantasy genre thing which i have never been into but that ass post really got me thinking if i should read it.

Hoho if you liked that may I present to you: Gideon Nav, swordswoman extraordinaire, certified goof, horny touch starved baby butch, believes puns are funny by default, will bark all day long but wouldn’t bite unless someone else was in danger, looks so cool and intimidating until she opens her mouth, just look at her go:

And this is all just from the first chapter.

Also, yeah, it’s a fantasy/sci fi thing, usually billed as “lesbian necromancers in space” featuring slow burn enemies to lovers (tho it’s a sloooow burn) and lots of bodyguard tropes. Basically the premise is Harrow, teen bone witch/nerd and head of a dying planet, drags Gideon, her childhood nemesis/professional pain in the ass, as her bodyguard to a weird necromancy tournament in space, wherein they encounter a bunch of other nerds, jocks, skeletons, bonding moments, and murder. But really the draw here is Gideon’s embarrassing selfless gay ass and the often hilarious writing that still packs a hell of an emotional punch.

There are some salient trigger warnings so lmk if you want a list, but I love this book so much and I love Gideon, chaotic crass tenderhearted cavalier of my heart, give it a shot you might regret it but isn’t that half the fun
