the best thing about ianthe tridentarius is that she is 100% convinced that she’s the protagonist, the villain, AND the love interest in a story that she doesn’t know is decidedly not about her
Tamsyn Muir really just sat down and wrote a book from the pov of the character least qualified to have any fucking clue about what’s going on and then proceeded to make sure each successive book was written from the perspective of an even less qualified bitch. Like we go from a jock filling in last minute at an international science competition, to a traumatized teenager with a DIY lobotomy trying to keep up with a bunch of 10,000 year old demigods, to a SIX MONTH OLD operating in a TERRORIST CELL. Pray for Alecto y’all, homegirl doesn’t stand a chance in hell of understanding the story she’s in.
if the locked tomb had a live action or animated adaptation, i think season 2 should start with “previously on the locked tomb…” and just show a false recap of scenes that never happened
the locked tomb is such a special series because where else are you going to find a character like harrowhark nonagesimus. she’s a repressed goth camp mean lesbian space nun necrophiliac immortal teenage saint. she’s a war crime and the greatest necromancer of her generation and she’s bad at making soup. she’s the deadpan depressed leader of a death cult and she fell for a horny jock who makes “your mom” jokes at every opportunity. she tried to have sex with a hallucination of a 10,000 year old corpse. she’s a strict conformist to liturgical tradition and also a heretic who almost killed god when she was ten. should i continue

Through osmosis I already knew the twist regarding Harrow’s brain. However, I was not prepared for the 12 other book breaking plot twists that happen in the last 100 pages of this book. God damn.
No really. One of the biggest twists in this book is revealed via dad joke.
“She peeled her gloves off her wet red palms and rolled up her sleeves for no reason, except that it gave her something to do with her shaking hands. She made her voice as calm as possible: in a way, she was calm. She was the calmest she had ever been in her entire life. It was just her body that was frightened.”

I’ll admit this one isn’t as related to the quote as the other ones but like. I genuinely spent the better part of a month trying and failing to draw that paragraph (from the inside, as in, the whole ribcage deal) and failing so. Decided to do smt else.

harrow the ninth is really like. what if orpheus didn’t turn around. what if he wasn’t going to turn around. what if he kept his face pointed resolutely ahead and trusted that she was there even not knowing what he was hoping for. what if orpheus had to be cajoled and threatened and eventually forced to turn around. what if eurydice hadn’t been told the rules and also had a crippling fear of abandonment and spent the whole time pleading with him to look at her. what if orpheus trusted that she would follow him but eurydice couldn’t trust that he would care. what if orpheus was told point-blank that eurydice was almost certainly not actually behind him and he chose to keep walking anyway. what if eurydice touched sunlight again and orpheus wasn’t there. what then.

Harrow and Kiriona being PROPPER AGRO to each other in a way that’s very emotionally charged, they’re miserable and hurt and dealing with it badly etc
And the former Cannan house crew being very “oh no” about it, like, isn’t it tragic how trauma has driven them appart
MEANWHILE, Aiglamene is just “wow I have never seen them be so civil, what the fuck happened, it’s been days and they haven’t even tried to push each other down the drillshaft”
