an illustration of a scene from Gideon the Ninth, formatted like a comic page with three panels. in the first and largest panel, a giant monster made of bone takes up most of the space. it has a long spine and two tails which are separated into several smaller tentacle-like tails. it has four crab-like legs and a large human face with closed eyes and closed mouth. the floor underneath it is cracked. there's a large fountain in the middle of the room, overturned pieces of furniture, and broken, ivy-covered columns. in the corner of the panel there are tiny figures of Cytherea and Camilla. Cytherea is saying "you're a nice girl." in the second and third panels, there's a close-up on the two women, with Cytherea's hand wrapped around Cam's throat, and Camilla is holding a knife to Cytherea's throat. Cam is dressed in a grey vest and grey pants with a sheath clipped to her belt, she is covered in blood. Cytherea is wrapped in a white sheet. She is saying "I had a nice girl as a cavalier too... once. what can you do?"

Cytherea looked faintly amused by the blade that was a finger’s breadth away from being buried in her jugular. She drawled, “Is this meant to kill me?”
