illustration of Harrow the Ninth. it's a two panel interpretation of a line from the book. the first panel depicts Harrow dressed in a hospital gown, a skull mask painted on her face with blood. she's in a bathroom and staring into a mirror, which reflects herself and Gideon. the mirror is cracked, and the crack goes through Gideon's reflection where her wounds are supposed to be: her heart and her throat. the text above says "there was another girl who grew up alongside Harrow". in the second panel Harrow looks at her reflection, Alecto standing next to her in the mirror. the crack goes through Harrow's forehead. the text in the panel says "but she died before Harrow was born"ALT

I haven’t reread htn in awhile so this could be either canon or completely wrong, but I like to think that whenever post-lobotomy Harrow felt that someone was missing from her life, her brain helpfully supplied the image of the Body.
