I’m almost me again / she’s almost you

The “you lied to us” scene from Gideon the Ninth: the quote in question is plastered over a painted wall of a lake scene, with willow trees and birds over water. The room would be in darkness, but doors have been opened, splashing golden light on the scene and highlighting Gideon, Harrow and Camilla’s shadows from the doorway. The light draws attention to Ianthe in the centre of the room, laid down nonchalantly on a pillow and covering her face with her hand as she giggles. Her dress, face and hair are splattered with blood - the substance can be seen across the hardwood floors, and on Naberius’ rapier in the foreground. Concealed by the shadows, we can see Coronabeth huddled into a ball. ALT

design notes under the cut because i crammed a lot of little details into this one!

- the rug design at Harrow’s feet features little finger bones, the ninth house symbol, a lily to represent death and a chain-like pattern running on one side for Alecto

- flora symbolism: forget me nots to represent devotion, ivy representing immortality, wisteria for lost love and resilience, purple hyacinth for sorrow and a desire for forgiveness, poppies (in the distant field) for death

- pearls in place of bones for Harrow’s design.

- Harrow’s necklace is in a rosary style with the three beads per section

- a pomegranate for resurrection and reference to the myth of Persephone. and a skull beside it for fun

- the brooch on Gideon’s chest is a heart being pierced by a sword

- Gideon wears a claddagh ring facing inwards to show her heart belongs to another (Harrow)
