I’m 100% sure this has been done to death (ha) but as I’m avoiding the tags like the plague for fear of spoilers, just take this single reaction to the first few chapters as my humble token of thanks.
I literally finished reading The Locked Tomb TODAY. Your fanart is amazing and it couldn't have come at a better time for me hehehe thank you for fueling my latest obsession 🩷🤍🧡
Oh no wait... Do you mean you haven't read Harrow the Ninth yet? -Sucks in a deep breath-
You are in for such a ride, my friend.
Lmao no mates I got a hold of the one audiobook, ate through it in two days while I did lineart at my desk, and now the next book is on hold but it’ll be another……….. 2 months? Until I get it.
So in the meantime, I’m just dodging spoilers like in the matrix and drawing fanart for book 1.
Question for those of you who have finished Gideon the Ninth and have read Harrow the Ninth and perhaps even Nona.

So as many of you may have guessed, I finished the first book a while ago. My reaction to the entire ending went something like this:

So as one may guess, I have mixed feelings.
They’re not a mix of good and bad. They’re a mix of Good and Complicated Good.
I legitimately think it was a great ending… but I am also struggling to reconcile what appears to be the death of one of my favorite characters.
On the one hand, I don’t want to simply throw my toys off the table and yell ‘I WANT MORE HARROW AND GIDEON DANGIT, LOCK ME IN THEIR HATE-LOVE PURGATORY FOREVER’. On the contrary, I love the idea that we get to see Harrow’s side of things. I am fully aware that the world has not even been explored fractionally, and I want to understand more of it.
On the other hand……….. I have very few things to care about anymore. I care about Harrow, this is true. But the rest of the characters I had an attachment to (Palamedes, Camilla, etc) are all kinda. Dead.
I want to read Harrow the Ninth and consume its entire carcass, meat bone and all, almost as much as I want to push it away and hold off on starting it as much as possible. Because I want to enjoy whatever Gideon the Ninth had, because I don’t think the series will ever go back to that. I feel like from now on, it will be a fundamentally different story. And that’s not…. bad! I think I will enjoy that new story.
But I feel like clinging to the tiny bubble of Gideon the Ninth because the beyond of it all feels as unknowable and as incomprehensible as death. And that naturally kinda repels me.
So I ask you, fellow readers - are my worries justified? Did you share them?
I don’t want spoilers. I don’t want summaries. I just want to know:
Does the story’s soul fundamentally change here? Or is the soup still the same, even if the ingredients have been a little blended in the great mixer of plot?
omg i never thought id need to see john gaius and harrowhark in your style but im SO glad i got to!!! i always adore your comics thank you for sharing :> hope you're having a nice day
How did you discover the locked tomb series and who in it is your favorite so far?
To be honest I’m not sure what exactly pushed me over the edge. I think SOMEONE on my dash reblogged it again but this time, I had the Libby app open at that exact moment so I just went and reserved the book. Just to listen to, on my way to work, because I have an hour drive each way.
That morphed into me then listening to it while I lined some pages, because I need brain activity while I do menial tasks like that.
Which then morphed into me staring at a blank screen while I devoted my full attention to the book, as I fell deeper and deeper in.
And now every day I’m very nearly drawing comics for it because… Yeah.
You know how this goes. Apologies to those who were expecting anything more in depth than just me rambling. I realize I skipped many good parts, but the way I was reading, I did not always have the access to Discord, and anyway, I get distracted.

I understand I’ve skipped a lot of parts here, but I was quite literally tearing through the last bit faster than anything so…there’s that.
I will likely hold off a bit before reading Nona. I want to sit on this and digest it a bit. Thanks for reading~
your comics about tlt got me to check out Gideon the ninth, and now I have to read the whole thing, especially after the end of the first book; that shit hit me like a building collapse: I thought I saw what was coming, and then very abruptly if floored me. already checked out Harrow, excited to read your liveblog when I've gotten through it
Haha, I’m really humbled by the fact that my lil comics are pulling others in. Enjoy the chaos!
Hey hi I just wanted to know. Since in your post where you asked if you should read the rest of the series after gtn...you asked if it's "the same soup"... Can you say now that, after all, it was the same bone-filled soup all along? 😎
I'm going so crazy with joy at you reading the locked tomb series!!! But please I need someone to acknowledge it!!! Have you stumbled across the friendship bracelets 0v0
A bit confused about which specific thing you’re referring to, and I don’t want to inadvertently spoil it for anyone BUT
If you mean the fact that I accidentally drew Gideon with a woven bracelet after reading the first book and then FINALLY realized the fact that it becomes relevant in the funniest fucking way in the third, then……….yeah. I uh. Yeah.

💝 Thank you for 1k. Special thanks to my lovely friend @sessjudoodles for helping sketch the line work for the Albertaceretops :)
After seeing it on my dashboard several times, and constantly thinking ‘oh that’s lovely’ I finally see this again and recognize it as Nona art. Ironically (or perhaps appropriately) I had purged its details from my mind until I came back to it again, with eyes wide open.
Hay! You starting to read The Locked Tomb series has made me really want to read it (I even bought the first book) but I'm still kind of on the fence about reading it since the trigger warning lists I found where so full.
I'm in a kind of crazy time in my life rn and I would like to read a fun, lore filled adventure book - in your opinion, would you say it's a good book for that? I spasificly find it hard with nihilistic stories (anxiety and all that)
Regardless if you answer or not, love your art and hope you have a fantastic day!
I would say it really depends on what you’re looking for.
Are you looking for disassociation or catharsis?
Gideon the Ninth is definitely fun and lore-filled. But it’s also quite heavy in places, and most of those places only get heavier towards the end.
I don’t know what sort of things you’re on the lookout for. It definitely depends on what you mean by ‘nihilistic’. But if you mean that you don’t want to feel sad because it all feels like it was for nothing, then maybe hold off until you’re in a more emotionally stable place. This is, after all, a book about necromancy, and death is a very forefront subject that’s deeply interwoven with the story itself.
Then again, I ain’t the boss of you and I can’t tell you what to read or not read. Maybe it’ll end up helping you instead. Who knows!
