when kiriona & crew return to the ninth she mentioned that she’s “never seen this many nuns before”, and also sister berta is described as “not looking older than Honesty” (age 12) and “gloomy” so it sounds like john’s 9th house revitalization DID end up going forward as promised. 

im thinking about the post-zoomer tween/teen neoninth generation…… can u imagine being a tween in the 2030′s-2040′s and then dying in a nuclear apocalypse and then being resurrected by the cowwall cult twitch streamer youtube guy 10,000 years later, only to be informed that not only is there no more internet, your life now consists of being a nun, hanging out with old people, and worshiping that which lies buried insensate with closed eye and stilled brain. and then like maybe a year after that suddenly your new home is overrun by zombies and you and all the old people have to hide in the basement. i would be gloomy also. pour one out for sister berta

truly believe that whatever gender fuckery Ianthe has going on in NtN is the sexiest she has ever been and i for one cannot get enough of it. she puts out a lit cigarette on her own skin. she is a total bitch to everyone and also very upfront about her machiavellian intentions. she’s a princess who never wanted to be a queen she’s a boy she’s a prince she’s a daughter of the third. she’s both “the good son” and the “lady of the first”. she’s a flesh magician and a lyctor which means she wakes up every day and intentionally chooses to look like an old rag hung up to dry. she’s so incredibly bad at Doing Gender that it wraps all the way around the other side and she becomes both incredibly good and wildly sexy at it. she’s constantly either making grandiose speeches that no one on the page cares about, screaming, or throwing up. just being openly gross & evil simply all of the time ❤️

have u ever thought abt the sheer gastrointestinal distress that Gideon must have experienced during those first few weeks at Canaan House. like yes she might be the child of God but my girl was raised on nutrient paste and snow leek which does not prepare the disgestive system for any kind variety. Harrow was probably fine bc she barely ate anything but Gideon went full ham on all the food. THIS is why the narrative breezed over those first few days at Canaan house. it wasn’t just bc she was bored and had nothing to do. it was also bc Gideon was in the bathroom.

while we all love Ianthe’s vileness it is important we not forget that Coronabeth is also a freak (affectionate). Ianthe might have bit chunks off of Naberius but at least she did it bc she needed the thanergy, Corona bit him literally just for fun and/or as a personal emotional outlet. sir this is my emotional support chewboytoy. and we cannot leave out how juicy she thought Gideon’s extremely megadead corse was while she&Cam&Judith were BOE prisoners. there is a reason why Ianthe thinks necrophilia is pasé and imo that reason is Coronabeth. not to mention how she canonically only falls in love with people who are somehow incapable of returning her affections: corpses. Judith. third house boys with a special interest in shuttles. she had a mental breakdown bc her sister did not murder and eat her.

pyrrha and camilla and palamades all making nona eat food even when she would rather eat sand or a marker cap because they love her. nona’s friends at school letting her know she is being an appalling baby by not teasing her about certain things, because they love her. hot sauce forgiving her, because she loves her. t shirt birthday gift. telling stories to fall asleep. trying to give choices even when there arent any. swimming with jellyfish in the dead of night. go hide in the closet, you don’t have to watch this. birthdays are once a year but sure, you can have one at 6 months. they did it. it’s done. you can’t take loved away.

ok so im rereading GtN for the first time post-Nona, and i just noticed:

Gideon unsheathed and examined the sword. Long, black pieces of crooked metal formed a decaying basket hilt. terrifically worn black pommel seal depicting the tomb wrapped in chains, the sign of the ninth. the blade itself was notched and cracked. "only way this kills someone is with lockjaw'" she said. "How are you going to get Ortus back anyway"?ALT

THIS, the new seal from the various nona chapter headings. which i always assumed was the sign of the tomb specifically, or Alecto, but also sounds exactly like the symbol Gideon describes as the sign of the Ninth.

because i always assumed the jawless skull with the IX on the forehead was the sign of the Ninth!! even though it was literally spelled it out for us in book 1. i just always assumed. anyway. what does this mean.
