firstballade:

gideon the ninth is good because it presents the inherent comedy of one character raised in a catholic death cult in space and taking it really, REALLY seriously and another character raised in the same catholic death cult in space and being like “lol this is so fucking stupid”

what’s also inherently really fucking funny is that the character that’s like ‘lol this is so fucking stupid’ is actually jesus

gideonisms:

but ALSO harrow does perform for gideon a lot of the time. It’s just that the thing she performs is vastly different from the thing she performs for everyone else. She’s performing devout mysterious queen for everyone else but for gideon specifically she is performing Archnemesis. Like she is hamming it up a little for attention. She is showing off all the cool things she can do. she wants gideon to witness her sweet bone moves

entropic-introspection:

Yknow I was gonna say “Hey what if Mercymorn was pissy about John eating peanuts at the admiralty meeting not bc she’s, uh, Mercy, but because he’s allergic but also immortal and so he was just tamping down his anaphylactic shock as it happened only Mercymorn could absolutely tell that’s what he was doing”

But then I also remembered the author is a Homestuck and while this only lends credence to my theory it also makes me feel irrationally disgruntled. Of course John has a peanut allergy and would eat them anyways since it won’t kill him now. Of course.

“i pray the rock is never rolled away” my sister in the locked tomb you rolled the rock away

peachdoxie:

Do you think Harrow would read Palamedes’s erotica

Ladies, if your girl

That’s not your girl, that’s Mituna “The Psiionic” Captor, Helmsman of the Battleship Condescension

rougey:

one of my favorite random parts of Gideon the Ninth is when Gideon watches the skeletons push all the shuttles into the ocean and then never mentions it to anyone, ever.

:

His swimming shirt was a lot tighter than Coronabeth's, and his fifty-seven abdominal muscles rippled under it importantly. He gave a long and rather obvious stretch, but stopped when he realised nobody was looking. “What's the holdup?” he said, rather pettishly.ALT

I love that Naberius is a total boytoy but he’s cursed to be in a book about dykes
