don’t get me wrong, they still firmly intend to kill baby gideon to open the tomb, but they’re having a hard time getting close enough to do it. this also features such events as:

• mercymorn unironically arguing with a toddler with intent to win
• mercy and wake pretending to be a married couple who have made a pilgrimage to the ninth with the intent of becoming shadow nuns
• and there was only one bed in the tiny nun’s cell in the ninth
