Please give us all the rosemary fluff that act 7 lacked

While romance may not be our primary concern, we’ll see what we can do ;o)

Oh, I’m sure the two of them will talk at some point, though I can’t make any promises about what.
Generally speaking, the team isn’t interested in exploring ships that don’t have a solid foundation in canon, at least not within the scope of this project. I’m not certain I can promise NO surprises anywhere, but I don’t think we’ll see pairings emerge suddenly out of left field.
Bart Simpson is the patron saint, or possibly familiar, of our newest Tumblr-maintaining team member, @austinado. I think Austin is doing a fine job of livening up @act8officialteam, and the Barts do seem like an appropriate avatar of this liveliness.
Thanks so much, Anon! And we’ve been trying to stay mostly noncommittal about ships, but our team leader did bend the rules enough to say in an earlier Ask, and I quote: “there is definitely going to be an amount of something that is probably davekat “
Act 8 will mostly contain familiar, canon characters, who continue to be the primary focus of our narrative.
Our first Fanart Friday has arrived, which means we’ll be reblogging Act 8 fanart this evening! If you have (age-appropriate) fanart you want reblogged, just ‘@’ this account in your post, or tag it #act 8

The Sylph of Rage from ACT 8 of homestuck, its a fan made comic that continues after act 7 of homestuck
For more info or the comic itself go head over to @act8official
I believe this is officially our first fanart for Act 8, and I couldn’t be more thrilled! Thanks so much, @noiramlaz!

I normally dont do WIP shots but I decided to do one for this.
Im currently working on a piece for @act8official that will hopefully be done soon.
Ive been working on it a lot, and enjoying it! I still have a while to go.
What needs to be done until I post it?
1. Finish the sketch (this is just a small portion of it)
2. Do the line work.
3. Fix any mistakes in the line work.
4. Color.
5. Shades, highlights, low lights, and touch ups.So clearly I have a good bit to get done! But soon it will hopefully be done, ill possibly be giving more updates on it as I go along. If yall could support me by keeping me motivated that’d be great.
So enjoy @act8official and their followers the small bit of a sketch for a big picture im working on. c:
Hey folks, check out this cool WIP and maybe help cheer @seer-of-everything on!
Thanks, Anon! I hope you continue to enjoy :o)
The nice thing about Homestuck is that as long as there’s a fandom, there will always be more of it, in some capacity. We really are here forever ;o)
(There’s still the canon epilogue to look forward to as well, so you get multiple servings of Homestuck, in different flavors, yay!)
I’m delighted that you find an Act 8 upd8 to be a worthy birthday present! Many happy returns, Anon :o)
Things have been a bit quiet around here this week, but like a swan floating serenely on a calm lake, under the surface are frantically paddling feet.
What Team 8 has been up to this week:
Regular upd8s will resume on June 8th!
I’m so glad you’re enjoying it! And I hope all of our writing team members see this post, they really are doing a great job :o)
Hi, Momo here. Tomorrow’s update may be late, put off to the 11th at the very lastest, to be posted with the rest of the content scheduled for that day.
This is mostly so that I don’t have to crunch, but there is a chance it could be ready on time. I just don’t want anybody surprised if it takes a few days more. Thank you all for your understanding, sorry for the hold up.
Hi Anon! You can read Act 8 at mspfanventures.com/?s=14278. We also have a Links page, and it’s the first link on the list, in case any folks ever lose the bookmark :o)
late, but working on it. eta a few hours from now.
Thank you! The team is having a great time working on these next updates. We hope you folks like them.
Sounds fine to me! It might take that long to get back to you, anyway. Hopefully not. Almost certainly sooner if you can help with art side, as the projects’ visual demands will increase over the next few acts.
Soon.
Act 8 has updated with Act 2: Panels 1-2
Act 8 is a project by fans, for fans, to produce a canon-compliant fanwork that expands on the Homestuck ending. It’s a celebration of our fandom’s ingenuity, an ACT of love towards Homestuck as a story and a larger phenomenon. It’s also just for the fun of it.
More panels may be on their way tonight. Sorry for the delay.
hey jsyk the previous page doesn’t yet link to this new upd8
Make sure to hard refresh the browser; it’s probably loading the old version of the page. But thank you!

Act 8 upd8s have resumed after our short break! Here’s what else happened this week:
The Act 8 fan project has been around for 8 weeks now, time sure does fly! Thanks for sticking with us, folks :o)
In my infinite folly I did not plan for anything special.
Because I am a ruinous failure. This is the only plausible explanation.
Thankfully, there is a mysterious sub-section of the act 8 team whose powers are greater than my own. The subject of their work is something that can only be alluded to in hushed tones of mystery. But today they have risen above even those lofty, enigmatic deeds.

*Slides monopoly money across the table to the team members responsible*
Don’t spend it all in one place :o)
Momo here!
I use Flash CS3. If you have a little animation and programming experience, it’s very easy to learn. I’d never touched the program before I worked on the prologue flashes. So the prologue served another purpose in addition to being a little silly and giving the artists a buffer window; it allowed me to test out and develop things like working in flash, making panels, hosting content, and using the website, so by the time we got to the Important stuff, I knew what I was doing and could make things quickly.
Relatively quickly, anyway. [S]Start still took me an entire week of crunching, even though most of that was drawing. And most of the day was going to my 9-5! I was exhausted at the end of that.
But that’s not what you asked. I usually start with an animatic, if it’s a long process that requires timing. Then I put in the images I need on the screen during the keys that I need them, in the right size and starting location. When the timing of everything feels right, then I animate them and apply the motion tweens. Sometimes I need to do fancy things with layer masks, like the load circle in [S]Start, and that takes a lot longer.
While not a lot of people are using flash in this way anymore, it was huge in its day, so there’s a plethora of tutorials available to find and use for whatever it is you want to do. Actionscript is fun and .swfs can do a lot of things if you’re creative. A lot of folks missed that this panel was interactive, and it was fun to discover how to change the “panel text” based on what objects you clicked. I’m hoping I can come up with new things later on, too. Maybe even cool secret things.
As for hosting, we use Dropbox, which is one of the only websites that
allows hosting and hotlinking of .swfs that I can find. For now it’s
doing the job just fine, and we have a plan if that ever changes.
That’s not a very in-depth tutorial, so some day I’ll sit down and make something more detailed, as unqualified as I am. But I hope that at least gave a glimpse into the process.
This is a subject that has not escaped Team 8′s notice, but I will say no more than that at this current time.
Hi folks! Bluebird here. I’ve been meaning to make a post about this for a while, and some of you may have already noticed this, but we are no longer answering Asks of the “will [character/ship] appear in Act 8?” variety.
There are a couple of reasons for this, starting with the simple fact that as the volume of Asks we receive increases, we have to prioritize them somehow. There are also only so many cagey half-answers that can be given to questions that enter spoiler territory, and if we tried to respond to each and every one we would soon start to sound like a particularly enigmatic auto-response service.
So from here on out, the answer to the question, “Will [character/ship] be in Act 8?” is a firm “Maybe!”
I will say that the project is striving for a No Character Left Behind philosophy, in terms of content, but I can’t make absolute guarantees. And that as far as ships go, we’re not planning to venture far from canon territory.
Tomorrow :o)

Act 8 has updated with Act 2: Panels 13-19

You are almost completely sure p=29 always had “[S]” at the start and always will. In fact, you are absolutely certain.
We’re deliberate in any visual decisions we’ve already made, but thank you all the same. It’s a resource we’re very likely to use in the future.
We are doing pretty regular Wednesday and Saturday upd8s for the time being.
I’m happy that you’re happy :oD
Thanks so much Anon, this was lovely to read!
I really do think the fluff is a good look for her :o)
Sshhhh, don’t spoil Act 8 Act 8 Act 8 Act 8 Act 8 Act 8 Act 8 Act 8 Part 8/16ths so casually. We have to preserve a few mysteries, you know.
Thanks, Anon, we’ve been really pleased that folks are enjoying the project overall, and the recent Porrim content in particular :o)
As for what programs are used for panels, I would say mostly Photoshop, but since there are so many artists working on this it’s likely that a few people are using other programs (PaintTool SAI, FireAlpaca, etc). Some of the panel animations have also been done in Flash Professional.
We’ve received a high volume of Asks about Porrim’s hair this week. If you are confused by this and/or similar stylistic choices that the team has made, it may be worth checking out this old reply, or our newly updated FAQ.
Hey folks! It’s Fanart Friday again. On weeks like this one where we haven’t received any submissions, I’ll just post some information for people who aren’t familiar with this illustrious day.
Fanart Friday is the day that we celebrate our fans by reblogging age-appropriate Act 8 fanworks, and is in fact every Friday. If you have a fanwork that you would like us to reblog, you can tag it “#act 8″, or mention @act8official in the body of your post :o)

Act 8 has updated with Act 2: Panels 20-33
Act 8 is a project by fans, for fans, to produce a (largely) canon-compliant fanwork that expands on the Homestuck ending. It’s a celebration of our fandom’s ingenuity, an ACT of love towards Homestuck as a story and a larger phenomenon. It’s also just for the fun of it.
I think the chances of these three hanging out together some time during Act 8
are good
.
Without giving anything away, I will say that closure regarding as many characters as possible is definitely a Team 8 goal.
Actually, it’s possible we might! And in a way, we already have, with Lord of the Files. Though we do have musicians on the team, and we’d like to take proper advantage of that, there could be an instance where an existing song is just as appropriate.
I mean, anything is possible ;o)
Yup, it links back to the hub like it’s supposed to. The other scenes will be available soon (but not yet).
I’ll just say that with the number of clown fans on Team 8, it’s a pretty safe bet that we’ll be seeing some important Gamzee content somewhere down the road.
