I just wanted to say that I love act 8 It's my first time actually getting to experience regular updates because I started right before homestuck ended

Just wanna say you guys are doing a really great job so far with the comic. It's really great and I love how it seems so professional. The art, the writing, etc, is just wonderful. It's really well done and I just enjoy reading every update! That said, I can't wait for the next one. Thank you guys so much for working on this!

I know you've gotten several of these, but I wanted to drop mine in as well! I started reading Homestuck April 7th, 2016, and finished May 21st, 2016. It was a wild ride, but I loved it. That being said, I never experienced an update for myself! Your team's amazing comic has allowed me to have the anticipation of waiting for an update to come out, and I give you all of my thanks for it. It's a very well put together comic, with very good character + set understanding. Keep up the great work!! <3

Act 8 is a project by fans, for fans, to produce a (largely) canon-compliant
fanwork that expands on the Homestuck ending. It’s a celebration of our
fandom’s ingenuity, an ACT of love towards Homestuck as a story and a
larger phenomenon.
It’s also just for the fun of it.
I would pay for you to make a ship cannon in act 8. Just say your price. I can provide vital organs if needed. Not necessarily mine. But I would do that sacrifice if told to. *trying to hold shipping feels*

wow,, oh my god, i am so impressed?? and at awe of how good you guys are managing to stick close to canon?? it's so beautiful because as i read all the characters were in character it's really hard to believe hussie has nothing to do with this??? im so impressed by you guys it brought me to tears because i thought homestuck was over and now i have something to look forward to! thank you all for your hard work and i look forward to upcoming upd8s!!!
This was a wonderful message to find in the askbox this morning! We’re definitely aiming to keep that classic Homestuck spirit alive with this project, and it’s so good to know that to some extent we are succeeding.

hi ok I really enjoyed the update and y'all did a great job, the art is a+ and the character development is beautiful, but also gamzee's dialogue has a lot of weird verb constructions like "I was being to think" and stuff like that got used over and over, it sounds a little awkward
Hmm, Gamzee’s speech does tend to be constructed in unconventional ways, but it’s possible we created more of a pattern with them than canon does. We’ll look into it!

In order to not completely overrun our dear followers’ dashes, we’re going to start queuing Ask replies on high volume days like today. We haven’t really received any complaints about post frequency, but it seems like a sensible decision at this point.
i screamed at the gamzee part omg. he's my child an i'm so glad to see him again! u guys are doing frickin awesome on act 8 and the characters are sticking to canon so far which i'm really impressed by because that's hard to pull off. also the art just looks so smooth and pretty and i love it omg. uh so anyway i've fangirled and what i'm trying to say is that you're all doing amazing and that we all really appreciate what you're doing

Act 8 is wonderful so far, and I'm so glad to see you sticking to canon while also adding in your own amazing ideas. In a few pages you've given Gamzee more character development than I think Hussie ever has, and I am so happy! Again, Act 8 is great. Thank you so much for creating it!
Team 8 is lucky, because Hussie planted so many seeds for character growth, so all we have to do is nurture what’s already there. Hopefully they’ll grow up healthy and vibrant, with their roots firmly grounded in canon :o)

I didn’t even catch that, to be honest! But I assume they meant canon in the context of Act 8 specifically, and not actual Homestuck canon (capital “C” Canon, if you will.)
Whereas say, a bakery AU inspired by Act 8 would be neither Homestuck or Act 8 fan project canon. Although it would be delightful.
Howdy! I’m Skeledot, and I’m the sound lead for an amazing project known as Act 8. For those who don’t know, Act 8 is a fan-made final act of Homestuck that is currently in progress. There has already been some great music featured in Act 8, and there’s more to come, but we wanted to create something special where songs based on Act 8 (whether or not there was a place in the comic for them) could be showcased.

Might I suggest writing longer logs? I kinda feel as if they are a bit to short, for Hussie standards. But overall lovely work team. We are all enjoying this so much, and can't wait to see were this goes. [^u^]

There’s nothing Team 8 can do but wait it out, unfortunately. It’s not the first time that mspfanventures has gone down, and hopefully it will be back up soon.
Just letting everyone know our next update will be on the 27th, and then a (hopefully) long one on the 3rd, and then a few updates somewhat off of our usual schedule between then and the 16th.

Most likely, there will be a variety of log lengths in act 8. When constructing a scene, it depends on what’s going on; are there a lot of characters talking, so many we can’t show them all in one frame, and have to make a new panel to introduce a new speaker? Are there a lot of lines that need separate visual aides? Are there a lot of separate ideas being introduced one after the other?
In act two part one, we have a long chunk where two characters discuss a single, complex subject at length, and it makes sense to pair that with fewer panels overall. Part three has thirteen children all talking over each other about a million things to a floating space ghost, so it was way more complex to put together.
Sometimes you find somewhere in the middle, like in last Wednesday’s update, where breaking up logs into medium sized chunks helps convey the mood and pacing. So I’ll always base it off of what feels right in the scene, but I think if you prefer smaller logs or larger ones, you won’t feel like you’re robbed of that experience either way.
i found it extremely difficult to read Gamzee and Karkat's pesterlogs. My eyes refused to focus on the words, insisting that they all looked exactly the same and causing me to drop down three sentences halfway through sentences. The more confused i got, the worse it got. Any suggestions as to how to read it so i can reread it and make sense of it?
Whenever I had to focus on paragraph text when my brain was being especially unhelpful about it, (meaning, in college, when I never got to sleep,) I would put some paper or an index card beneath each line as I was reading it. But maybe our followers have some more ideas.
On a computer, I sometimes find it helpful to highlight lines I'm trying to focus on. Not sure if that works on mobile devices though

If you’re using Chrome, you may also want to look into BeeLine Reader, or if it’s eye strain that’s giving you trouble I recommend Dark Reader, which I use constantly.
could you please dont *make* ANY ships canon (is it the right word??) in the comic? like please, let them have some moments but no kisses or anything like that... if theyre not on the original hs let it stay that way
Team 8 plans to approach ships and romance in pretty much the same manner that canon does, so I wouldn’t expect it to be too strong a focus. On the other hand, I can’t promise that there will be absolutely no romance or kissing, since Homestuck canon does contain a certain amount of those things.
Specific ships will be based in canon, so I wouldn’t worry too much about surprise pairings popping up out of left field.
