What do you think of the new aspect things?
Ok, having processed things properly (took a little extra time because of life stuff, which is also why this break in posts), I… can’t say I find this new stuff all that surprising or weird. It mostly matches up with existing things, adds a little context for existing notions. Ragebound having a focus on finding something ‘true’ fits with the way Rage tears apart stories and polite fictions like suspension of disbelief.
The “Aspect-bound” terminology is also nice to have. “Heroes of Aspect” is a little clunky and “Aspect players” feels weird for me with people who aren’t actually playing Sburb, not that I begrudge people who use it. I just enjoy maintaining an absolute stranglehold on every aspect of my vocabulary, you know. It’s calming.
It throws established ideas about Xefros’ and Dammek’s classpects out the window, which by extension places the ideas about Joey’s and Jude’s on shakier ground, but that’s part of the excitement, you know. Bit of a challenge.
I also find the way the caste descriptions vary from totally on point for established characters (Purple and sober Gamzee, for instance) to hilariously off base (Indigo and Equius/Horuss). It suggests that these are more enforced stereotypes than destiny, which, well, the idea that your blood caste determines your personality is just about as suspect as auspisticism.
