Considering glass is pretty much just modified stone lithomancy seems pretty tempting.

Also, are we talking actual mecha-suits here, or basically fishbowls? Because while octopi do need water to breathe and not dry out, it’s not like air burns them or anything.

Hmm, seen from that perspective, a decently insulated sponge would work about as well. There’s the problem of deoxygenation, of course, but you run into that either way. Either you solve that with constant refills, or you add some sort of contraption that keeps cycling in air bubbles (like in an aquarium) or you put in a lot of plants (not very Blue).

Also, they should all wear goggles, because the light is much brighter on the surface than where they come from.
