So I’m doing some Kaiju maths, to try and figure out how big my babies would be. And I am floored by the height-weight ratio of the Kaiju.
Otachi is 63 meters tall, and weighs 2.690 tons. That means she weighs approximately 42 tons for every meter tall she is.
I’m not using that math. Aleph is…I’d approximate them as blocks. Take a guess at the height, width and length of each Kaiju in meters (on all fours, minus anything that sticks out but doesn’t weigh a lot, like wings, tails or long legs), multiply them together and that number is your answer in tons (assuming they have about the density of water, which they’d need to swim).
Assuming Otachi is about half as wide as she is tall and twice as long, that’s 60 * 30 * 120=about 200 tons. All the approximations means she could probably be anywhere from 400 to 100, but it’s probably in that ballpark.
Wait, no, that multiplication went wrong. 200 000 tons. Which is fairly ridiculous, but not totally out of the picture for a creature called Kaiju in full seriousness.
Except I went and actually looked at the creature, and it seems I’ve disobeyed my own rules with regards to legs (I did not remember them being that long compared to the body). I think that means I have to at least halve her weight to compensate for the fact that most of her height is legs, not body. Which means the official weight is less than four times lighter than my quick estimate, which, given that she could easily be a bit slimmer and shorter than my guess, is probably within the boundaries.
Well, I’ve learned a lesson in making stupid guesses without thinking ahead, at least.
