So here’s Neon Ice Cream Headache - my PERSONAL LEAST FAVORITE of Hussie’s older works (not counting various weaker scribblettes and stuff) but it’s still got some PRETTY NICE ART
I didn’t bother to include the last page to keep it conveniently in one photoset; it’s just blank aside from the “to be continued” anyway (and obviously it never even was continued so)
I realize it’d be a great idea to reblog some of this stuff for this blog’s purposes.
In Neon Ice Cream Headache, we see some surprising tropes that came back for deeper exploration in Homestuck. Note the Bro-hatted character– he’s Ice from And It Don’t Stop, wearing Mad Flagrant’s hat, so there’s already an implied theme here of “a former protagonist has grown older and become something else entirely.” There’s the whole “villain traps people in a Large Dynamic Fiction for the entertainment of a rough crowd.” There’s the page with hands coming out of screens, that feels very Homestuck to me. And then there’s the fact that the comic’s two primary colours are also Davepeta’s.
Basically this is an underrated comic and, while unfinished, paints a vivid picture regardless.
