Not to generalize but I really do think 99% of late millenial problems and childhood grief and nostalgia are caused by the rise of the internet age. Imagine getting toys for Christmas and having them technologically outdated by the next Christmas. Imagine going from CDs to MP3s to iPods to paying a monthly service to access music you no longer need to own within the span of your school career. All generations carry a deep thirst for a supposed simpler time but millennials were the first generation to have their childhoods genuinely, pitifully outdated and nigh nonexistent by the time they graduated. That shit’ll fuck you up. That shit’ll send you scrambling for a nostalgic compress in any form it will take. That shit’ll make you shell out a solid $10 for a pleasantly decent Jumanji remake. Catch me getting high on nickelodeon gak in the streets just to feel alive again. Anytime, anywhere.
