forgot dirks stupid shades… sorry for the repost

Heya, you are an absolute beautiful person and seeing the way you make colors and values pop always make my day.

I'd love to see the tips for the progress of rendering if you can.

Nevertheless, good luck with school and remember you are the coolest cat ever to exist.

<3

oh man this made my day now YOU are the coolest cat to ever exist

since my most recent drawing was done in greyscale and simply adjusted with gradient maps, i thought id base a ‘tutorial’ off my second most recent piece since it has more substance to it

sorry if this isnt the most helpful haha… feel free to modify and interpret the following ‘advice’ as you wish, i am not at ALL qualified to be teaching people shit about art i kinda just fuck around and hope it looks cool in the end

let me know if yall are interested in a greyscale/gradient map tutorial

oh and to the people wondering yes the lighting symbolism was intentional!!!

got bored of greyscale and decided to run tonally rampant

IM SOBBING THIS IS SO COOL THANK YOU BRO THANK YOU I LOVE YOUR ART

Hey thanks for the guide last time, I decided to try them on some tomatoes, color theory is pretty crunchy to use and i've learnt a lot just by looking at how you conduct these. I spent the entire night in the middle of a storm passing by to get them close to the source but it would look much more poppy just using brush strokes. (And a lack of blending tools as well)

It took me a while and sorry for this for not being related to striders nor homestuck at all.

woahoahh now that is absolutely gorgeous

youve got mad skills man!! sorry for letting this rot in my inbox for so long haha

askception

hello hello!!! LOVEEE YOUR STUFF SOSOSOSOSOSOSOOSOSOSO MUCH I COULD LIVE OFF IT I CANNOT DESCRIBE IN COHERENT WORDS HOW MUCH I LOVE IT EURHFHFHFH

question!!! do you use refs for your pieces or just wing it? cause if its latter hooooly moly man. swooning in awe and reverence

yo! thank you so much!!

simply put, sometimes i do use references and sometimes i dont

when i do, i usually refer to at least 3 photos i find particularly inspiring and strive to produce something unique as opposed to outright replication of a single image. often times these photos are from the depths of pinterest or just ones i took myself

however i will say that there is no shame in using references, especially with regards to studies and practice pieces! they make things wayyyy faster and easier for artists, and are hella useful in mastering the nuances of anatomy, lighting and poses

ive noticed that theres a lot of stigma surrounding the usage of references in the art community, and id be lying if i said i was never ashamed of utilising them myself. but remember, even prestigious renaissance artists had muses. using a reference to speed up the process doesnt outright nullify years of cumulative experience and skill!!

anyway, heres a shitty doodle while i work on some actual pieces

dont look at it too hard

take care!!

jdhdkshsjdh school starts in a couple days wish me luck
