hello hello!!! LOVEEE YOUR STUFF SOSOSOSOSOSOSOOSOSOSO MUCH I COULD LIVE OFF IT I CANNOT DESCRIBE IN COHERENT WORDS HOW MUCH I LOVE IT EURHFHFHFH
question!!! do you use refs for your pieces or just wing it? cause if its latter hooooly moly man. swooning in awe and reverence
yo! thank you so much!!
simply put, sometimes i do use references and sometimes i dont
when i do, i usually refer to at least 3 photos i find particularly inspiring and strive to produce something unique as opposed to outright replication of a single image. often times these photos are from the depths of pinterest or just ones i took myself
however i will say that there is no shame in using references, especially with regards to studies and practice pieces! they make things wayyyy faster and easier for artists, and are hella useful in mastering the nuances of anatomy, lighting and poses
ive noticed that theres a lot of stigma surrounding the usage of references in the art community, and id be lying if i said i was never ashamed of utilising them myself. but remember, even prestigious renaissance artists had muses. using a reference to speed up the process doesnt outright nullify years of cumulative experience and skill!!
anyway, heres a shitty doodle while i work on some actual pieces
dont look at it too hard

take care!!
