Planets are assigned for classpect and personality since they are supposed to challenge the player and help them grow into their mythological role.
Today is the two year anniversary of me becoming a mod of this blog so to celebrate I drew all the post-scratch trolls in mspaint without any references and not allowing myself to erase or undo anything or spend more than half a minute on each one. enjoy.
Arquius had been hinted at by Doc Scratch. Doc Scratch was made from Lil Cal (so part of arquius). The Doc and Lil Hal speak very similarly and are both hyperintelligent. Also on page 005527 (sorry I’m on mobile and can’t link) Doc Scratch tells Rose to think of him as her human uncle and he participates in Equius’s signature “yes, no, yes, no” thing.
There is a more drawn out theory written by Bladekindeyewear a few years ago on the same topic that I would highly recommend checking out.
As for Dirk, he arrived with Cal, they’ve literally always been together. That was the only relationship he had until he met the other kids. You’d come to value a puppet as a friend too if that was the only type of interaction you had for years.
Doc Scratch was ectobiologically created using Lil Cal and Vriska’s cueball. Lil Cal is LE’s entrance ticket to new universes since LE is located inside him.
So for a Betty Crocker metaphor. Essentially, Lil Cal is a pack of gushers, Doc Scratch is the actual gusher, and LE is the delicious juices inside that once released assault your taste buds with its sweat artificial wrath.

Quest Beds require you to have two lives alive to use it. The Sacrificial Slab only needs one, in every other way it’s exactly the same as a Quest Bed.

Dave’s ended up with Gamzee who used it to turn B2 Jack into Jack English. That Cal is pretty much done now.

When Gamzee looked into Cal’s eyes the piece of his soul in there probably told him everything he had to do for English to rise and that he was part his two mirthful messiahs. Which lead him to do everything he did and eventually end up right back there in Cal.
Caliborn is, in essence, explaining the “final boss battle” the kids wage against him, which wraps up a number of longstanding mysteries of the comic
so here we go:
- John, using his retcon powers, warps himself and the other 7 God Tier kids to go battle Caliborn, ambushing him before he becomes Lord English.
- They fight Caliborn and Gamzee; Gamzee is cut in half in the ensuing fracas.
- Caliborn activates the Juju he received upon completing his quest, the Homestuck Logo Thingy; it’s power traps John, Rose, Dave, and Jade’s souls inside it.
- Caliborn uses the Ring of Void to banish the Juju to the Dream Bubbles, where Vriska found it. This completes a time loop in which John gets the retcon powers in the first place, only to later be sealed away in the very object that give him the powers.
- The remaining four kids battle Caliborn.
- Caliborn defeats all of them, but Jake’s hope powers activate and allow him to deal massive damage to Caliborn. Caliborn, angered but impressed, decides to rename himself Lord English.
- Unfortunately, since Caliborn is basically immortal, the attack still only stuns him.
- Arquius launches a sudden and unexpected counter-attack, ambushing Caliborn with robotic horses (as foreshadowed by Hussie here).
- While Arquius holds onto Caliborn, Dirk uses his soul powers to trap Caliborn’s soul inside Lil Cal. Unfortunately, Arquius and half of Gamzee are also pulled into Lil Cal in the process, creating the horrible abomination known as Lord English.
- Roxy tries to banish Caliborn’s soul forever by sending Lil Cal into the void, but this allows Lil Cal access to the multiverse, presumably because Caliborn had the Ring of Void. Lil Cal’s existence has always been a bit of an unexplained paradox, and this finally explains how he was able to appear in Dave’s nightmares.
where does this leave us?
- Lord English is continuing his multiversal rampage
- the Beta Kids are trapped inside the Homestuck Logo Thingy, which is currently in the possession of either Meenah or Aradia
- the Alpha kids are stuck on Caliborn’s planet without John to teleport them away
- the surviving Trolls, who did not come with the Alpha kids, are probably stuck with the Condesce, who is continuing her plan to complete the Alpha kid’s session and create a new universe to rule over
It’s pretty bad but I don’t think I’d say it’s the worst. After all, at least not everyone is dead.
When Dirk stuck Caliborn and Arquius in Cal half of Gamzee got caught too. Caliborn didn’t say so in the naration so a lot of peps have been missing it.
I’m going to say no because a Scratch at it’s basic level just switches the ectobabies. Once makes a difference, doing it a second time will just get the first results again and put the universe in an endless loop so I don’t Skaia would allow a second scratch.

Doc Scratch was also made with the t1ckt0ck8r8kH34DShonkHONK genetic code written by Tavros, Aradia, Terezi, Vriska, and Gamzee.
Dave and Rose used their slabs to ascend in Cascade.
My guess is that the trolls teamed up with the Condesce since they have a common enemy in English and are working to finished the Alpha kids’ session and create the new universe. That or the trolls sat out since most of them aren’t God Tier.

While I know a lot of things, the future is not one of them.
It’s implied. Every time a Quest Bed has been used the player had two lives, and every time a Sacrificial Slab has been used they’ve had one. I guess it could just be a coincidence, but I doubt it.
The story is set in the future. Caliborn watched it happen on one of the many screens on his planet and then made his claymations about it.

PRESCRATCH
This Cal has the souls of Arquius, Gamzee, and Caliborn within him.
Lil’ Cal lands with Bro and lives with him.
Years pass then Dave starts playing Sburb. Cal is cut into pieces by Dave.
Bro repairs Cal and they enter the medium.
Bro is defeated by Bec Noir who take Cal as a trophy.
Bec Noir eventually enters the Trolls’ Universe where he throws Cal at an Aradiabot who is knocked through a portal into the past.
The damaged Cal is found by Aradia who gives him to Sollux who in turn gives it to Kanaya.
Kanaya repairs Cal and gives him a Felt suit.
The Trolls’ Black Queen uses Cal to ectobiologically make Doc Scratch
Sometime between when the trolls played Sgrub and arriving on the meteor Gamzee gets a hold of Cal.
Years later Gamzee sends Lil’ Cal to B2 Jack. B2 Jack becomes cursed and turns into Jack English.
This version then dies.
POSTSCRATCH
This version of Cal is empty.
Lil’ Cal is sent back with Dirk and lives with him.
When Dirk is attacked by Crockerbots Lil’ Cal is dropped into the sea.
Years later during Caliborn’s session Cal is excavated by Gamzee and given to Caliborn.
During Caliborn’s fight with the Alpha kids Dirk traps Caliborn’s Arquiussprite and Gamzee’s souls in Lil’ Cal.
Roxy then sends Lil Cal into the void where he enters the nightmares of the unsuspecting.
Prompted by Gamzee’s chucklevoodoo Lil’ Cal enters Dave’s dreams.
Rose visits Dave’s Dreamself’s bedroom become unnerved by Cal and throws him out windows.
Rather than falling to his death be lands on Bro’s renegade rocket board which take him to the ectobiology lab.
There he is sent on the meteor alongside baby Dirk.
Repeat.

Yes, that’s exactly what happened/is happening/will happen. Cal’s timeline is a paradox, looping, the same, forever.
Yes that’s true but he was definitely more Arquius than Caliborn or Gamzee, just how LE is more Caliborn.
If Gamzee killed Nepeta before Equius then Gamzee wouldn’t be alive.
Post-Scratch Cal is the one with Dirk. and not that I’ve seen but I’m sure one’ll pop up sooner or later.

John landed in 1996 so in real time he’s be 19, but it’s still 2012 in the story so in story he’s 16 just like all the rest of the kids.
Gamzee was split in half, half of Gamzee got sucked in and half of him was left under the stage.

After the upd8 we can know that the reason that Gamzee was actually immortal was because he had to be there to get his soul sucked into Lil Cal and become part of Lord English. So now that that’s happened Gamzee shouldn’t be immortal anymore.
Homestuck will never be over
I think it’s more of a call back to Caliborn’s fight with the Alpha kids where he turned his back then one of the bodies got back up. Which would happen with Kanaya.

Yes, where his timeline splits being sent back with ectobaby Dirk. Pre-scratch Cal keeps the souls and Post-scratch didn’t. This is probably due to the fact that two of the same juju can’t exist at the same time without of one them being an illusion or doomed to be destroyed.
Too much work for Caliborn.
Lil Cal’s timeline splits during the Scratch so there are two Lil’ Cals at the same time and the souls can’t go into both so they go into one and the other one is empty. The one with the souls has it’s eyes ripped out and is probably destroyed and the one without them get the souls put in by Dirk.

He needed to be alive to fulfill the timeloop. If Gamzee died then Lord English wouldn’t exist since Gamzee setup Caliborn’s home, created ARquiusprite and became part of English himself.

The messiahs are Doc Scratch and Lord English which he becomes a part of just by being in Cal so his other half might just stay dead.
