Some people could have been reading since it started and idk about you but remembering certain details can be hard after it's been years since you initially took it in. It's easy to forget stuff with a comic this big that's been going on so long. It's not safe to assume every fan began reading recently and caught up ASAP. A lot of folks have been at it for years.
