When was any kind of pact formed between Karkat and Eridan? I don't remember that at all!

They mention it here, and in [S] Kanaya: Return to Core.  They don’t say exactly what it is, but based on their conversation in Karkat: Begin another memo it might have had something to do with fixing Eridan’s emotional issues.
