I've been sent quite a bit of hate for the way I draw trolls, is it ever directly stated that trolls look like humans with gray skin and horns? or can their anatomy be interpreted differently? thank you!

Nope, it’s never stated that they look just like humans, draw them however you like. I personally always enjoy seeing them when they’re drawn more insect-like.
