Aranea also took control of the alpha timeline because she thought it was for the greater good and demonstrated some violent behavior. The whole “session lacking their knight’s aspect” isn’t canon. The A1 session is proof of this since Mind is apparently supposed to mean logic but the A1 trolls did everything correctly, it was just a null session.

Calliope’s father was the one who destroyed the troll planet and yes, that panel is proof that Kanaya will be successful in rebuilding the troll race in the new universe. We don’t know that that was the only troll planet though. Whether or not cherubs only exist in that universe hasn’t been answered in-comic.
