Maybe Vriska exploded when she ascended because of her cybernetic parts? We've seen dreambots and such explode when a sudden disconnect occurred? Just baseless conjecture.

So, is Meulin saying "MOG" a lot a canon thing or just fanon? and if it's canon, why that recurring typo?

It is canon. Meulin is a parody of the tumblr fangirl so I take mog as a joke in reference to their tendency to misspell things or keyboard smash when excited.
