Hussie got inspiration for making the trolls before he even knew he was going to have trolls in the story by the "Little Monsters" movie poster John got for his birthday. I don't have a source because I have the Homestuck book and it's in the author notes, unless I can take a picture of it?
Yeah I guess taking a picture of it and adding it to the post would count as a source.

Is it really a forgotten fact if it is in the book though? And scanning the page or just using a citation might be better. If that person is wrong or making things up, this one isn't, someone else with the book will be quick to correct them I'm sure.
I actually have the book and can attest to that. He does make mention of the little monsters poster as inspiration for the trolls later on.

not 100% sure about the sign thing, but it's probably given to them. it might be based on blood caste as well. the sufferer didn't have a sign (the signless, duh), and he probably wasnt given one because he was a mutant blood and was left to die as a wriggler etc etc. but then again this doesnt explain why karkat has a sign.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but, the reason Karkat has a sign is because he's the Signless's descendant. If we look back, the symbol Karkat has is the Symbol of the Signless. The Lusus karkat also had was pre-chosen for the descendant, as well as what his symbol would be. He has this sign because people believed he'd be the pone to carry on the Signless's message.
Karkat has a sign because followers of the Sufferer took on his Sym69ls and bred a lusus species to care for anyone who had the same blood mutation.

Of course John is going to die. The law of large numbers demands it. The question, though, is whether he's going to die before or after the story is over.
(This is just what I THINK is going to happen, not what is actually going to happen, don’t mind me.)
I personally think that John is going to get killed before the end, well, I think he is going to die at the VERY end. That’s how Homestuck will end. Perhaps with all the Beta/Alpha kids dying. I don’t know for sure.
