Bonus video for the month! This isn’t any sort Homestuck or Hiveswap lore post, just a rough overview of the current state of Homestuck, Hiveswap, What Pumpkin, and their relationship with VIZ media.
If you’re feeling down about things as they stand, I hope my contribution makes you feel a bit better about things. And maybe even makes you consider checking out Hiveswap and the Hiveswap: Friendsims! They’re both fascinating and add a lot to the Homestuck universe, in my opinion-Alternia has never been more interesting than the last couple of weeks!

Work in progress of the next site redesign. Trying to bring more color into things, as well as fixing the stretched images on the Firefox/Mobile versions. I’ll likely push the main page sometime in the next couple days and ask people to test it on their devices before updating the other pages of the site

Starting to test out a new style for Homestuck.info, so far on just the front page. I think it may still be a bit cramped on mobile devices, but its certainly an improvement. Let me know if it looks weird on any of your devices and I’ll work throughout the week on getting the rest of the site up to par.

guess what tomorrow is! it’s a Friday. it is, in fact, the much vaunted EVERY OTHER FRIDAY. I may have spent the past week greedily devouring content of my favorite children’s cartoon, but I also had time to work on this RAD AS HELL Friendsim volume starring TWO (2) DEUDLY TROLLBABES
the Steam page ain’t up yet so I have graciously provided some screenshots to give you a hint of what’s to come! if you are inclined to GET HYPE, keep an eye out around TWO-ISH PST (which stands for PUNCHING SLASHING TROLL, obviously)
if you’re like me and have a crappy memory, here’s a little visual aid (up to today, friday 22nd june) of all the trolls from troll call that have been in friendsims thus far. i will keep this updated every two weeks.
by my count, if we’re going to have two (or more/twinned) trolls per friendsim… we now have 24 trolls to go. 24 / 2 = 12, so add that to the six volumes of friendsim we have… 18. there may be 18 (or more, or less) installments of friendsim. fine by me.
i’ll tag the trolls that have already featured in friendsim in order by blood color.
So let’s say that there is always going to be two trolls per Friendsim. At this rate, with one every two weeks, we should have the entire roster (I.e., 18 games) by 21st December 2018. And then potentially some news on Homestuck Epilogue or Hiveswap Act 2.

Nice graphics! It’s amazing how many we’ve gone through already, and I do hope we get them all, but waiting til December for news….. let’s hope we hear a bit before then!
I talked about this briefly on twitter but a handful of the characters in friendsim have “canon” music that we don’t use because it doesn’t fit the mood of the route. A great example is Konyll’s music.
In Hiveswap Act 2 there is a significant interaction with her that I won’t spoil, but it involves Azdaja as well. When you overlap their two songs, it becomes a full melody. (kind of like their trollcall card, two sides of one coin etc)
With characters like Remele, who have tracks made for them for Friendsim, it follows what I’ve been referring to as the established “Musical Canon” in that the instrumentation choices are largely based on blood caste. Homestuck has a tradition of doing this whether it wanted to or not a lot of the time and I spent a great deal of time reverse engineering the existing canon to make hiveswap feel like it fit. A good example of this is something like Tagora’s and other tealbloods tracks being the only ones allowed to use harpsichord. “But what about Tri-” shh!
anyway the established musical canon in hiveswap is something like: Burgundy: Synths/Percussion Brown: Trumpet/Horns/Brass Yellow: Chiptune ???: ???? Olive: Mallets Jade: Harps/Bells + Airy/Ethereal Sounds Teal: Harpsichord Cerulean: they just… steal other castes instruments so its complicated to explain. Indigo: Overwrought and Orchestral Purple: Honks lmao Violet: At this point they are so individual that each one has its own musical motif Fuchsia: Whatever they want.
none of these are hard rules so those of you out there doing fantroll stuff can just do whatever you want, this is just what we came up with.

I worked today on extending the new theme to every part of the site and not just the main page. It’s got some edges to soften, but I’m pretty happy with getting things set-up and not clipping too bad on mobile. I’m still going to add some cosmetic flair to it, such as a unique repeating background for each page, and then I’ll work on finishing up the Email Archive and continue work on a few TBA projects.
