hello, do you have a vague idea of when applications open? i'm very excited!
There are only a few things we have left to finalize but we are for sure opening applications before the end of the week!
Sorry for the delay, we took a little longer than expected, but deciding card placements for every card in the minor arcana was a bit of an undertaking.
We’ll reveal the full list of cards soon, we’re working on expanded descriptions so artists will have an idea of what they’re applying for.

Applications will open this Friday!
so for the applications do we submit the finished product or a sketch? sorry im new to this;;
Neither! From this application we’re going to select which artist is going to draw which card, so we’re asking for links to your portfolio/blog with completed works, as well as your preference of card
how many card choices do we get to mention, and are some already taken? i've whittled it down to.. uh.. 18
We’re asking for 3 preferences minimum, 5 maximum.
None have been pre selected either, they’re all up for grabs!
We’ll also be asking if anyone is willing to draw multiple cards, but that’s totally optional and doesn’t change your chance of being selected in any way.
I am willing to add a place on the application where you can add notes with any additional card choices you would be willing to draw, BUT narrowing it down to 5 helps us better deliberate when it comes to assigning artists, I don’t want things to get TOO complicated
is there any specific way you want our art submitted? i have an art blog but theres a lot of incomplete work and it isnt all my best, would it be okay to link a dropbox folder when apps open?
We would suggest not to link your art blog if there’s a lot of unfinished work. It would be best if you could link us the dropbox folder of your best work.
Is there a specific time you think the entries will go live? I kind of want to know if I need to be awake for a certain time to make sure I get my submission in earlier. (timezones and all that)
We are probably posting at midnight cst tonight- but applying earlier has absolutely no effect on whether or not you are selected. It doesn’t factor in our decision making process at all.
How many completed works should we show you you guys?
Ideally more than a couple- the main thing we don’t want to see is links to blogs/portfolios filled with sketches or unfinished pieces. If we have to hunt to find a finished piece, that’s probably not a good sign- but we also provide a section on the application where you can directly link us some specific pieces.

Click here if you want to apply for the Ladystuck Tarot Minor Aracana but can’t decide which cards you want to do
Just so you know the link to the minor arcana is broken on mobile
That’s odd, it’s working for me on mobile right now- you may be having an issue because it’s a Page and not a post so it links outside of the app because page links don’t work on mobile
how long do y’all think applications will be open for?
At least 2 weeks!
Will I take my grand daughter to Disneyland this year?
Yes

Applications will be open from 4/13 - 4/27
When selecting your preferred cards, please refer to our card assignments here
Some quick notes on how we are approaching applications this time: for the Major Arcana, some cards received a disproportionate amount of applicants (with one card in particular receiving over 50, and others as few as 4). We will be keeping a tally of (anonymous) applicants for each card updated periodically through the process, which you can see here. Please consult this chart when making your choices - consideration is voluntary, and cards won’t be locked or closed due to excess applicants, but applying for a less popular card may help your chances!
Thanks as always for your participation and happy 413!
Do I need to write my full name in the application form?
Nope, this isn’t formal or anything- even a pseudonym or nickname you go by online is fine
Do you know how long artist are going to have to finish their cards once assignments are sent out? I'd like to take that into account before answering The "Would you be willing/able to complete multiple cards?" question.
We don’t have the exact dates out, but artists for the major arcana had more than 2 months to complete 1 card, probably closer to 3, so somewhere in the range.
Is there a way to change responses?
You can edit your response after you send it in, yes
But if you’re planning on doing so because the cards you’ve chosen are popular, I just want to reiterate that we’re not taking anything out of the running! If a card has a lot of applicants already, that doesn’t mean you can’t still add it to your list!
how many pieces are you looking for in the portfolio? what if our works with best techniques happen to not depict human characters? the application period is only about enough time to whip up one nice piece with BG and such... also in the form what's URL vs portfolio? thank you!
We want to see your best work and we want to see that you can consistently be making quality content. 5+ pieces in your portfolio would be choice. If you think that depicting human characters is not your strong suit, then keep that in mind when applying for cards. If you have strong conceptual skills and can convey the meaning of the card without human characters, or you just have very strong skill in other aspects of art, we will still accept you. URL vs Portfolio means, either you send us a link to your art tag on tumblr, or you link us to another website that contains your portfolio.
may i ask how will i send the card/art? ( im sorry, this is my first time signing up for an arcana thing or zine :/ )
We’ll give more information about that once the artists have been selected!
In case there is any confusion: we’re not asking for completed art of any cards yet, just examples of your past work. You can link to your past work on the application form
hi! quick question, if there's a piece that we want for our portfolio but forgot to put in the application is there a way to add the piece to our application or would we have to resubmit?
I’m pretty sure that you should be able to edit your responses even after you’ve submitted them.
does it matter if I'm able to work on more than one card? Like, if I can't work on more than one card because I don't have the time, will you pick someone else who can?
If you’re only able to work on one card that won’t affect our decision making process at all! It’s perfectly fine if you are only able to complete one card.
same application anon here: i checked and i couldn't find a way to edit my response :'( im not sure if it's just on my end though?
Editing after submission is enabled, if it really doesn’t work then just go ahead and resubmit !
heyo so i think all these times of linking my IG to zines/projects really didnt help me bc my IG is kinda a mess so I'm compiling some nicer things of mine in a folder. how would i send that in the application though? also, i was thinking about making some concept art pieces for some cards i like, i guess cause im worried my hobby art doesnt show that kind of stuff u kno? should i add those in the folder or like separately? srry im just not sure how to send everything in correctly. thank u!!
There are free portfolio sites that you can upload pieces of arts onto and link that in your application. We don’t mind if your hobby art doesn’t show your concept for the tarot cards, just focus on sending your best work. If you want to add any concept art for the cards it wouldn’t hurt.
hey I sent in a second application bc I wasn't able to edit mine, just wanted to let you know
No problem! Thanks for the heads up
Do you know what the back of the card will look like yet and are you going to draw it or have a application thing for it
The back of the card has already been decided! It’s been finished since the major arcana, but thanks for asking though.
do we know when apps will close and when artists will be decided? :)
Applications close tomorrow! Artists will be decided in a couple of weeks after.
what would some of the reasons be for not being chosen to do a card?
Well this is a juried art application, so we’ll be choosing artists based on whoever we feel has the best ability to create a particular card.
It may come down to the cards you applied for as well- there are quite a few cards with a large number of applicants, and some with far fewer, so the odds of getting selected for a card with say 20 other artists are obviously significantly lower.
That’s why we allowed people to select 5 potential cards, and have been updating the chart showing how many applicants each card has, so hopefully it isn’t too imbalanced.
is there a way to change our choices? i had a lot of options i was torn between and im now noticing that the ones i almost chose but passed on dont have a lot of applicants,,
if you received email confirmation that you applied you can use the link in that email to edit your response- otherwise if you just reapply we’ll use the most recent results, but please let us know which one yours is so we can keep track!
Sorry if this is a weird question, is there a fixed time when the applications close tomorrow?
You have until noon on 4/28 PST
what if we didn’t get an email confirmation?
If you didn’t get email confirmation, that doesn’t necessarily mean your application didn’t go through- we unfortunately didn’t have email confirmation turned on for a little while but rectified that eventually.
Applications have closed!
Thank you to everyone who applied, we will begin sorting through them and hopefully have all acceptance and rejection emails sent out by the end of the week!
We’ll send them out all in one go, so you don’t have to be on the lookout just yet. Once all emails have been sent out we will announce it here.
Thank you again!
