i’ve kind of talked offhandedly about how the denizen represents the parent while mostly sticking to the pipe-smoking Typheus and the trolls’ dead denizens as examples, but as usual Jade is an interesting outlier here… it seems reasonable to guess that Jade’s Mother Of All Monsters being a sexy blue lady would suggest Jake’s sexy blue ladies came to be the closest thing Jade had to a mother figure
my first thought, though, was of Jake’s ostensibly blue wife Ms. Claire… is she Echidna in some way… Hiveswap does of course have a whole bunch of Monsters who so far have no known Mother? so for all we know she’s connected to those
part of me was thinking that it’s also worth comment that Jake has a “male denizen” and that it might be so as to suggest Lord English himself is Jake’s “dad”… but I tricked myself, because Abraxas is an androgyne! so it says more about Jade than it does Jake…
ohhh… malo asked what rose’s tree modus might say about her way of thinking (in the same way john and dave’s fetch modi suggest attention deficit and a preoccupation with words, respectively) and my answer was that it might have something to do with a Seer of Light’s need to be able to see branching pathways… but I think the answer is simpler and even closer to her psyche than that. Rose is someone who folds her knowledge experiences from doomed timelines back into her ultimate self. her very existence consists of branches and pathways attached to a root
interesting point that came up in the wiki discord the other day; spades slick had a few hundred years wandering the desert of post apocalypse alternia to mellow out, which easily explains the gulf between his personality and that of “bec” noir, who started off as exactly the same person but has only been around for 3 years and a day.

and then you see slick and he’s a pillar of the community! to the extent of literally having created it!
but now I’m not so sure that similarity is strictly unintentional, given that caliborn himself is assigned the job of wandering the post-apocalyptic earth for a while and forced to be someone’s exile at the end of it all.

it feels worthy of note that caliborn’s whole quest being bringing a dead planet back to life is in itself an exile’s job, but then all of the alpha kids’ roles as nobles are basically that as well. so what’s all that about
Hussie is not an infallible genius, and Act Six in particular is FULL of continuity errors. For example: Vriska mind controlling two Cronuses when her powers were established as only being able to control lowbloods back in Hivebent. I say this as someone who generally likes Act Six, by the way. It's absolutely possible that Hussie, who was very burnt out at the time, forgot some of the minutia of his own lore. (3/3)
you don’t deserve the time of day for me to respond to all of this because you’re taking a stupid wiki argument to my blog when i told you quite plainly to discuss it on the wiki talk page… but i am gonna say if you’re going to bring your annoying agenda all the way to tumblr you should at least have your facts straight: it is actually expressly “difficult to manipulate the mind of the psychically gifted” for Vriska, which excludes more lowbloods than it excludes highbloods; she outright cannot control Aradia, the lowest, and can only control Sollux “about half the time”. it is true that Mindfang revels in being able to control the cohort of peasants watching over her execution, but only because they’re “impressiona8le spect8ors” with “weak wills”; when Vriska is able to control Tavros, it’s only because of his “simple, mallea8le 8rain”, and Vriska’s own description of her limits is that she “can’t control just any8ody. They’ve got to 8e impressssssssiona8le” - like the consorts whose minds she read. while it is true that members of lower castes are more “psychically susceptible” to psychic attacks like gl'bgolyb’s, this has never meant higher castes were totally immune: in fact the only reason Vriska doesn’t fuck with Equius more is because he has her robot arm as leverage.
missed detail: Homestuck’s Act 6 Act 6 expansion has the express purpose of trapping Caliborn in a narrative spiraling infinitely downward while the heroes escape, foreshadowing his ultimate defeat.
