But it’s interesting to note that there was a more fundamental, theological difference between the Subjugglator faith and the Signless’ rebellious teachings; the Signless saw a “world in peace, before its fall”, whereas for the Subjugglators, the paradise planet “does not exist yet”. For the Signless, paradise had been and gone; for the Subjugglators, it was a land of prophecy.
What makes this more interesting is that in a way, it means the Subjugglators were right, and the Signless was wrong. Beforus never came back, and a lot of readers agree that the place didn’t seem that great to begin with (while we’re TOLD it was free of English’s influence, a lot of stuff seems to strongly imply the opposite); but the Dark Carnival did happen, and a rowdy band of capricious minstrels did rise up there.
Of course, the Signless did also foretell that his second coming would lead his people to glory outside of his realm. So I guess the moral of the story here is that Alternian religions is the same.
