Regarding the Dolorosa’s page in the [o]termission
I realize the jadebloods are uniquely equipped to raise mother grubs and young trolls and all, or such is their social obligation, but the line “forbidden from visiting the surface” strikes me as odd now. It’s a known implication that some facet of their rare caste’s biology causes their unique transformation into rainbow drinkers, but now I wonder if that ONLY happens upon extensive exposure to sunlight, and keeping them trapped in the caverns is a political tactic to prevent their gaining immortality?
The text supports the idea that the Alternian undead are photosynthetic, as does the name ‘rainbow drinker’ in itself.
