lime-bloods:

was reminded that the green moon probably started off as the Black Queen’s planet - the two cities are totally identical, sharing not just one but both key photoshop assets - and realised for the first time that this also puts a rather impressive feather in the cap of the idea that Lord English literally carries his session around in his eyeballs (Black Hole Theory, Case II).

one of the biggest mysteries cloaking English has always been one of logistics. Homestuck tends to paint a pretty vivid roadmap of how characters get from point A to point B, and Scratch’s indication that he appears in universe after universe using the cue balls as his “seeds” does a lot of heavy lifting, but still leaves it up in the air how English takes certain assets with him. the Felt and the green moon are particular conundrums. while it should, technically, be within Scratch’s powers to pull a random green moon from somewhere else in the universe, we have to assume that as Alternia’s first guardian he contains his jurisdiction to Alternia’s orbit. and if Scratch-English can take the black planet with him from the dead session, why not the rest of the planets? and what better place to store them than in Caliborn’s skull, safely contained within Scratch’s cueball head?

the fact that English can bring the pool balls with him even through the rematerialisation of ectobiology does suggest something else worth commenting on; that the pool balls are somehow organic, or at least have their own genetic soul or essence; that when Caliborn, plus pool ball eyes, was imprisoned within Lil Cal, the ‘DNA’ of those pool balls was included in the ‘DNA’ of Lil Cal. the rest of Lord English’s trappings were brought to him through physical means, the overcoat and peg leg both teleported to him through space: but even though a set of cue balls were in Andrew Hussie’s mansion, in the very same building as the overcoat, English emerges from the 8r8k with the pool balls already inside his skull.

of course, with the balls being fragments of the Battlefield, which we know is much more than the inert chunk of rock it tries to pass off as, it makes perfect sense for them to be organisms in their own right. but we also have to think of them as fragments of a giant cueball, emerging in an event called the “First Break” - billiards terminology also repeatedly used to refer to English’s own emergence from his host. and if the cueball is Scratch’s seed, then in this sense we must view the billiard balls as English’s DNA ‘hatching’ from the seed.

(and with these billiard balls acting as containers to ship the Felt across paradox space, when Caliborn sends the ball planets back into the black hole as part of the dead session, he is essentially sending frogs into the Battlefield in billiard ball-shaped vessels - the exact symbol that acts as the sperm in Homestuck’s climax. it’s a parallel that’s hard to look away from - and perhaps yet another way that Caliborn swallows his own progeny via black hole?)

in very @mmmmalo fashion, the blood rainbow of destruction becomes simultaneously the slurry of genetic material that creates life. Lord English, as the patriarch god, spews forth a stream of his own seed as his primary weapon!
