it always catches me off guard that ralsei’s backstory for the world of darkness starts off with “a long time ago there was a legend”… it’s very peculiar language, and not the way stories are usually told. “a long time ago” is when events happen that become legends, not the birthplace of legends themselves… legends are the storystuff that forms between the past and the present… but by basing the entire history of the world of darkness on a legend, ralsei again emphasises that the world of darkness is itself a legend. “events” do not take place there; only stories do.
