Fefeta is Roxy’s totem, so Dave’s “soulmate” being Nepeta might suggest that the ultimate androgyne is the unification of Strider and Lalonde? (if you ascribe any cosmic significance to moirallegience you may gain some satisfaction from the fact that this makes Nepeta the “other half” of Equius (Dirk’s totem) by extension, but that’s not really my take on the quadrant so I digress)

Dirk not really wanting much to do with Roxy postcanon could be read as a blow against this interpretation, but then Dirk’s a Plato buff so it’d be no wonder if he thought as a gay bloke his other half would have to be another guy
