I always thought that if Hivebent had been written with a more comprehensive world in mind the lawnrings should probably have been hexagonal combs, but last year I came across some research that indicated bees really just make circular combs that shape themselves into hexagons organically when they’re pushed up against each other… which was a little bit sad to learn, but if an Alternian neighbourhood will naturally shape itself into a hexagonal comb as it’s populated with more and more interlocking circular lawnrings that’s even more fun, even if it is entirely a coincidence
