i’ve always thought that the name “gamblignant” stuck out among the other alternian job titles as really unworthy wordplay. what is a “malignant” even supposed to mean in this context? how is it at all equivalent to an “executor” or “eradicator” or “assassin”? but with one of their forms of romance literally being intended to foster violent rivalry, i guess it doesn’t seem so out of the question that “an evil guy” really is a real occupation you can have in the troll world? like, so long as “storytelling-as-law” is English’s rule
