one of my first comments after Chapter 2 was that Spamton’s connection to Queen’s castle basement feels like an obvious parallel being drawn to Toby making Undertale “in Andrew Hussie’s basement”, reinforced by the easter egg where the annoying dog author insert is implied to be living in an identical dumpster situation. so now that we have Gerson I wonder if the whole suite of secret bosses are meant to invoke the author in some way ?
in drawing a line to Gerson’s ‘you gotta stop obsessing over my work and make something new’ philosophy, it’s pretty easy to imagine that Spamton’s gimmick of stealing from other people is an expression of Toby’s anxiety about sticking too closely to his inspirations? what that says about Jevil though I’m not sure. will have to revisit his dialogue
