“I’m a terrible person, everyone hates me, I’m no good to anyone and shouldn’t be around people because I just bring them down and hurt them, so I’m never going to pursue a relationship ever again, romantic or platonic or otherwise, because I should just be alone.”
Is not actually a sentiment of self-discovery meant to let us know that this character is never going to be in a relationship. I’d kind of call it more like the ramblings of someone at the absolute end of their self worth deciding to stop trying.
I mean, I think there’s an even chance on Dirk and Jake getting back together in the end, and if they do I really hope it’s with the caveat of “we need to work a whole lot harder to be good for each other instead of the opposite of that” and I wouldn’t be shocked if they don’t end up back together.
But absolutely nothing in today’s update has shifted that probability in any way whatsoever >_>
ok but let me say one thing @ all the people that are reading into the update and using it to throw around labels on sexualities and whatnot, you’re just ignoring the fact Jake stated he’s not meant for romantic stuff (which technically would be /fine/) along with the fact he doesn’t think he’s supposed to have platonic feelings either, as in just being alone forever with NO friends either, and he pretty obviously feels bitter and defeated about both things
and just the fact he’s taking it as “that is all there is to say” when it really is not and even Tavrosprite just agrees with it (bc Tavrosprite is actually really bad for Jake and he hasn’t been able to give actually good advices so far and just goes along with whatever he says) should already be enough to make you doubt this is actually ok for him
so how can you be happy about somebody feeling that wa y

it’s fucking terrible that it was THIS stupid update that made it really sink in that homestuck is almost over and I’m going to have to say goodbye to these people forever and has left me feeling sad and listless all day.
