Do you have any tips for someone just starting to draw?
:
HI THERE!
1- take it easy!: i know you must have heard lots of artist complaining about stress and agony but its not always the case, most of us enjoy what we do, only practice and patience leads to whatever you style or thing ur trying to achieve
2- concentrate!: its always good to have a clear image of what you are trying to draw before drawing more than just going with the flow, it doesnt always turn the way you pictured it but its easier in the process to make it
3- use refenreces!:
google is your best friend! i’ve heard theres some people that say that using references is a cheap way to become artist but it is not! most artist use lots of references!
4- anatomy: i know this is ALWAYS the rock in every artist shoe, but i think of anatomy just the way i learn languages: if it looks good then it is good. (tho you might want to check out some references).
anatomy doesnt always has to be proportional! anatomy should be harmonic with the style you are trying to do
(examples of not proportional but harmonic anatomy):
(even when the pose is dynamic you can make some great curves and stuff)
5- dont fret about styles!: it comes with time and practice to find someones style (it is mostly always a mixture of all the artist you always looked after tho), theres like a shitty rule in the artistic industry where is glorified to have just ONE style, that one style to be recognized for and always do.
but to be honest i see styles as sexuality; you dont always have to stick to just one if you dont want to, you can have as many styles as you want. just do whatever makes you feel good.
