So this might seem like a random question but.. how do you always have your colors go together so well? It just always seems like you have these beautiful soft color schemes and everything goes together just right. I'm horrible with matching tones together and whatnot and was wondering if you had any tips on.. well, color schemes in general? And maybe how to make them really bring out the emotion you want to evoke :]

I always find it easier to try to find Dirk’s skin color first, because he’s really white skinned and helps set a color base for the ambiance!

But my palettes changes always a lot when I’m painting, let’s just try something together to illustrate my point! Here’s another palette that I like!

First I do flat colors to test things out (especially when I don’t know where I’m going!)

I ended up with an illustration where the character are lighter than the background (So, the opposite of my original illustration)
