One of my favorite things to think about is Dirk and Dave having sleepovers post game.

Like, they strive super hard to have a normal sibling relationship, and at first it’s super forced, ‘cause its more out of some heavy sense of mutual obligation. It’s rough in the beginning, but it’s something that they both want, and Karkat is the first to encourage Dave in finding normalcy in their situation if it is what he needs.

It eventually turns into late nights/early mornings, when the sun isn’t quite up yet, but the room is a heavy hue of faded blue, and both boys are just laid over eachother while they laugh at all of the terrible bullshit that they had to endure during their journey, with their brains fogged with obvious sleep deprevation.

Y'all know how people get slap happy at 4 a.m. when you know you should sleep, but you just can’t.

It just turns into two boys gripping onto one another as they share silence and closeness because it’s finally okay to just be quiet and allow themselves to decompress, and /feel/ without the fear of responsibility or inevitable doom. They are safe, and this is /normal/.

They just have this quiet, shared understanding that nobody else really geets but them, and it just hits the fuckin’ spot.
