real talk kanaya’s arc is…sad. she starts off life with this age old duty slapped on her because of her hemotype. she accepts this and is excited even, but wary about leaving the sun behind. she accepts doomsday and is transported from the shimmering desert where she grew up to a deep ocean that she can’t navigate. she’s funny and snarky and has a deeply sarcastic sense of humor, but she still smiles and nods and accepts, over and over, until she’s shot through the belly and her only connection to her dead lusus and any sense of tradition and hope is destroyed. and even after that…she can’t ever ascend, can’t really do anything! even her quest goal is just handed to her–it’s too easy to feel like winning, to feel really like anything.
