December 2017

Hey, here's a bit of an odd question for ya, hope its not too out there compared to what I see you answer most often: thoughts on the Fraymotif potential with a Rogue of Void and an Heir of Space? Also just thoughts on Fraymotifs in general, the seem so amazing and, potentially, battle breaking.

Fraymotifs are some of the most complex and customizable things in the entirety of SBURB. First of all, they’re assigned by Aspect, making it unclear if Class Combinations actually influence them. Furthermore, when the Kids used Fraymotifs during Collide, we can see Roxy summoning Green Cubes, fair enough, but also summoning Zazzerpan. This Wizard affinity is not Void-based- That’s something ROXY is comfortable with and loves, which implies not only are there Fraymotifs for each Aspect combination, but that the person itself using the Fraymotif influences what it even does. This allows for people to pretty much come up with their own combo attacks, and I think that’s really neat.

That being said? Space + Void, Fraymotif?

Opus Collapse, it tears a Black Hole wherever it’s aimed at.

I saw your answer about your Knight of Life wielding lightning. My borderline brother (not the biggest fan of Homestuck) is also a Knight of Life and likes electric magic and stuff. P much, how would wielding lightning work for a Knight of Life?

If Life relates enough to Nature and Weather to the extent it allows for the control of Lightning, a Knight of Life would likely be able to call forth storms to rain down lightning on their foes. They may also wield Lightning itself, either as a weapon a-la Mjolnir, or maybe Zeus-style by literally holding lightning bolts in their hands? Now wouldn’t that be interesting?

if you're open to more Fraymotif asks... Life and Hope?

Fraymotifs are probably the hardest thing to theorize about because they could be anything and there’s like, at LEAST Three Fraymotifs per Aspect and combinations of Aspects, so…

Thaaat being said Life and Hope evoke the classic angelical ‘Holy Light’ kind of power, so maybe…

Life + Hope: Armageddon Choir, with holy light raining from above in the surrounding area. Heals allies, burns enemies.

Same Anon asking about what exactly Life would entail: funnily enough, I'm actually a Knight of Life too. Going along the Necromancer vein, though: would it be out of place for a Life player to have a sort of Death thing going on? I feel like Death itself is more of a Doom thing, but like... communicating with the dead, being a sort of medium or channeler? I know Sollux as a Doom player heard the voices of the dead, so I was wondering if a Life player could do something like that too...

Well, Feferi is a Witch of Life, and she pretty much made the Horrorterrors make the Bubbles for everyone, so I would definitely say having a connection with Dead stuff, specially as a medium or channeler, could be pretty Lifey.

what would a rouge of blood be able to do?

A Rogue of Blood sounds like someone who may insert themselves in a friend group- Like. Stealing bonds and distributing them, maybe entering a group of close friends and becoming everyone’s buddy, but also possibly stealing someone’s friends maybe? Also stealing Blood sounds like a Vampire, but perhaps a Thief would be better for that, or maybe as a Rogue of Blood they’re a Vampire that spread the Vampirism to others. Hmmmmm.

take your time bc i know you said fraymotifs are hard to theorize! but i'd love to hear your thoughts on fraymotifs for a mage of mind and a knight of time?

I mean we literally see Fraymotifs between a Knight of Time and a Seer of Mind- As I said I don’t know if Classes also affect Fraymotifs, but even if they do, the two Visionary Classes should be close enough that their Fraymotifs are similar. We see Terezi and Dave guiding their consciousness, with knowledge of how the fight is going to go, to a point in the past so they can be aware of what’s going on and strike before Jack and Slick can, and similarly, they also seem to converge Timelines into one, guided by Terezi, so that they can bring Dirk back- Literally converging them into one, too, as seen by the fact Slick ends up with two Lord English staffs.

Do you think John gained super-human strength when he god-tier'ed or is the Warhammer of Zillyhoo/Vrillyhoo Hammer was like super light like those plastic honking hammers for babies?

I mean, pre-ascension by the time he gets the Wrinklefucker, he’s swinging a hammer made of two irons with ease, when he could barely even lift a sledgehammer earlier that day. Rather than ascension, it would seem that ascending to the next rung in your Echeladder really improves you physically in several ways. That being said? The Harleybercorckllishclaire family seems to have quite high Vim.

While Fraymotifs are very much, as you've said, complex and hard to accurately theorize about, with (seemingly) up to 12 people able to join into a single Fraymotif as long as its 12 different aspect-bound and there being no apparent limiters to even cross-session combos, its so interesting to hear talk of them at all anymore since overall we saw so little of this mechanic in action throughout homestuck's narrative. Any particular potential fraymotif comboes you'd be interested in seeing happen?

Oh yes it’s definitely a super cool mechanic, and I also love the way they are named and would LOVE to see what Hussie has to say about them! Fraymotifs and Denizens are two of the things I wish Hussie talked more about post-canon.

As for Fraymotifs I’d enjoy? No specific combo of two pops to mind, but I would like to see like, a full 12-Player Aspect Combo Fraymotif, like what EVEN would it be combining every single Aspect into an attack?

maybe combining every aspect could result in a rainbow breath attack like Lord English has that would completely obliterate everything

That’s a good assumption, given the Rainbow Majyyk Bullshit comes from cracking open the God Tier Clock, it may just be like. The pure essence of God Tier stuff.

So what is the main difference between a knight and a mage? I read up on the descriptions of the two classes but I am not sure how to pick between them.

If it’s about picking between them and both descriptions call to you enough, you may want to see about their powers- Knowing vs Serving, or even basing yourself on their outfits if you like one more than the other! Really for something that personal it’s kind of up to you in the end.

Not sure if you answer these kind of asks, but I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out my class. I'm a Heart player for sure, but I have a bit of trouble figuring out how I use heart. I'm always seeking my identity, but never know it. Around certain people, I try to become what I think they want me to be. People depend on me for advice, and sometimes I even end up sort of "ghost writing" peoples' arguments? As in I tell them what to say when they're in a debate. Thanks for your time <3

Hmmmmm, I mean there’s no one more qualified to choose your Class than yourself, buuuut based on what you said… Perhaps a Page? Being Served Heart by those around you, and never quite finding your true calling because you haven’t reached your full potential yet? Otherwise, people depending on you and the ghost writing sounds like something perhaps a Knight or a Prince would do. I can’t tell for sure though! Only you can quite tell in the end. :p

what a thief of mind powers be? :O

A Thief of Mind may steal other’s ideas or strategies. You know that guy you tell some idea to and they’re like “No that’s stupid”, but then they say the exact same thing with a different wording and get all the credit? I’m imagining exactly that. Additionally, emulating others as a facade perhaps, something spy-like maybe? Stealing Choices by planting themselves in the action and being the ones to decide for the entire team, and maybe literally Stealing Thoughts in the sorta creepy Dream Eater sense or like, making others forget stuff.

What would a Knight of Doom's powers be?

As I’ve been talking about for the past few days, if you consider Doom to be represented through Lightning or Poison or something like that Aspect-Power-wise, they’d definitely be able to weaponize that side of the Aspect, buuut this is a tad hard to tell. Other than that, serving through Doom or serving Doom sounds kind of like destruction for the greater good, bringing an End to things.

Alternatively, they may Serve others through Self Sacrifice, sort of like a Human Shield sort of deal, or with powers that hurt them when they use them.

I may have missed the 413 Milestone, but you can bet your ass I did not miss the 420 one! HAH.

Firstly, i love this blog, keep up the good work! So I've taken the sign test and i keep getting the Rage aspect, which makes me curious, what would a page of rage be able to do, abilities wise?

Thank you! :D And congrats on sharing Xefros’ potential Classpect. Getting others to Serve you through Rage is potentially a thing, getting someone frustrated and angry at something and lead them to help you get rid of that thing, as well as perhaps being made Angry by others around you? When it comes to ‘weaponizing Rage’, or ‘using Rage’, it’s always interesting to think on a Rage-Fuelled, Berserker-like state, but knowing they also relate to Chucklevoodoos maybe there could be something more psychic to it as well.

I'm curious, what's your opinion on things like psionics, majyyks and chucklevoodoo powers? Are they just bologna or actually interesting?

Majyyks is just another term for miscellaneous Magic I think? Although Maybe it’s more related to the Lord English Rainbow Clockwork Magic stuff, I can actually not quite recall. That being said, the other stuff? I think it’s interesting that each caste has a sort of proficiency so to say, with the few that don’t seem to have psychic powers seemingly focusing more on agility or raw power.

What classpect do you, dear blogger, get from your quiz and the extended zodiac?

I got Time and Rage from the canon Aspect Quiz, but Doom resonated waaaay more with me. With that in mind, I’d be Camino! Lime + Prospit + Doom.

I have NOT taken my own Quiz, however, I know exactly what questions lead to what answer, so it would be biased and not really accurate.

andrew hussie why did jack english’s disembodied head turn into a black-hole-slash-wormhole that evidently sent objects to earth c in the far future

wait when did it send anything to earth c???

thats how caliborn ends up with the crowbar, and gamzee! they get from the alpha session to caliborn’s somehow, and given that we see gamzee raising the cherubs, they probably got there before caliborn starts playing the game

i thought they just dumped him into the ocean and he used time shenangians to get there

Yea, actually. There was a specific conversation between Vriska and someone else on the Lilly pad where Vriska said she knew Gamzee was important, so she would just dump him in the ocean after the battle and let him find his way out. I guess things could Change though, whether they wanted them to or not

When did Jack English’s head become a black hole though? I remember doomed Calliope making the black hole to destroy the green sun (or… Collapsing the green sun to make the black jole? Not sure what happened, I think it’s up to interpretation?) but nothing about Jack English having anything to do with a black hole

image

The idea of him just being dumped in the Ocean is very much just an attempt by Hussie to deviate attention to how Gamzee REALLY gets to Earth C using Vriska, a little tease to the Fandom and our headcanons about how the Clown even got there in the first place, and much like with everything else post-Retcon, she only says what she thinks will happen or what makes her seem most important before proceeding to not do anything at all.

The Black Hole happens during Collide if you didn’t remember, right after he gets decapitated, the powerful Majyyks contained within Lil Cal’s eyes are released and make… That happen. It should be noted here that not only does the Crowbar and Gamzee end up in Caliborn’s Session this way, but given over half of LOTAK has been absorbed into the Black Hole, even Yaldabaoth Himself has been transported from the Alpha’s Session to Earth-C. The most likely outcome is that the Black Hole Caliborn and Calliope’s parents mated around was the exit point for all the stuff, unless by using Time Travel, Gamzee could travel back to the past of Earth-C BEFORE it was sucked into the Session, which would have alarming implications about Caliborn and Gamzee being able to travel back to Earth-C at any point, which doesn’t seem too likely. Either way, the last time we see Gamzee, he’s crying in the Fridge, still in LOTAK, and definitely in the half of the planet that gets sucked in. There’s absolutely no way he gets out of that one.

In this instant, Gamzee is doing two things, one, he’s imitating an iconic scene from Indiana Jones, remember the one where he survives a Nuclear Detonation inside of a fridge? Gamzee one-upped him by surviving a god damn Black Hole. The other thing he’s doing is abusing his Plot Shield. With Rage as Narrative Contrivance, we’ve seen time and time again that the Clown just makes absolutely no fucking sense. He only survives as long as he does because he has a literal Plot Shield- As the Alpha Timeline bends to Caliborn’s will, and Lord English needs Gamzee to exist, Gamzee is granted immunity to anything by the Alpha Timeline, and he’s ensured to pretty much reach his destination by the end of the Masterpiece. Many characters have this Plot Shield of needing to get to a certain point in the Alpha Timeline, but only Gamzee absolutely abuses it by doing things that would otherwise kill him or that make no god damn sense at all.

As for why the Black Hole happens in the first place, well it’s never stated clearly, but it’s good to point out that, at this point, Alpha Session Jack Noir is not Jack Noir anymore. Aranea mentions it, English takes upon more than just one form, and he’s subjugated countless Universes. Defeating English would prove to be but a small first step, to prove that he can indeed be defeated. When Dave beheads him, he’s not beheading Jack Noir, he’s beheading Lord English. He’s an embodiment of his power, a vessel for his Soul, there is no Jack anymore. And Lord English has unconditional immortality- He broke the Judgement Clock and absorbed its essence, basically becoming indestructible. And indeed, with many different iterations and projecting himself through Lil Cal, Lord English is indeed eternal! But we don’t actually ever see what happens when he dies. His body isn’t indestructible- His Soul is. One would think a Dead Lord English would rise from the dead like a God Tier and continue the fight, again and again, but with Jack’s death being the only thing we have showing what happens when he dies?

It would seem that rather than resurrecting, in the extremely rare event that Lord English’ body dies, the God Tier Clockwork Majyyks that make up his power are released and collapse into an immense Black Hole big enough to tear a God Damn Planet in half. Furthermore, said Black Hole leads back to the World he was born in. It’s almost as if retroactively ensuring any death would only make him Stronger- Sending items that could potentially kill him, Jujus able to survive the Black Hole and anything that may make up his story from the ground up. His entire existence, thus, becomes a Time Loop th-

His entire existence becomes a Time Loop- Fuck. That’s what the Black Hole is.

Lord English’ End links back to his Beginning. By collapsing in his Defeat and bringing back the things that let him Begin his conquest in the first place, Lord English is actively ensuring he will become Lord English. He needs to Exist and Conquer to be Defeated one day. He is Already There. Fuck.

Note: This post has a lot of speculation, but all drawn from canonical Context Clues and events. Take it with a grain of salt.

I just want to start by saying that i like the examinations you do on this blog! I'm curious to know what you'd think a rogue of rage would be able to do?

Thank you! A Rogue of Rage would definitely be able to pacify people, and perhaps redirect people’s anger to someone or somewhere else. Taken as Chaos, Anarchy and tearing down the Order, it could be interpreted as them building up Society, keeping others in check and preventing rebellion and internal turmoil.

Onto Hiveswap stuff now. Do you think the reason the twin Capricorn trolls, Barzum and Baizli, wear half-masks is because that part of their face has been damaged or scarred? Or is it just a cheap tactic to maintain the clown/pantomime theme with Capricorns?

I don’t think so, I mean it’s possible but I think it’s merely for the aesthetic. I also think maybe at some point they swap Masks because come on, they’re like the only Twins we know of in Alternia, if we don’t get fuckery of them switching places for some purpose they’re not going to be able to pull off that one anywhere else!

Also someone mentioned the possibility of the masks being a Fusion Juju of some sort at some point- I don’t personally believe it is, but it’s always a fun thing to consider.

To win a standard session, do you need just a space player or do need both a space and time player?

As far as we know, yep. As I explained a bit ago, the Space Player brings the Forge and has the Frog-related Land, and the Time Player’s Denizen lights the forge, allowing the start of the Frog Breeding and the eventual eruption to send the Frog into Skaia.

could you do me a solid and explain why people thought Xefros was a Time player? we know now bc of the extended zodiac that he's Rage, which makes a whole lot of sense with the whole tearing down of the hemospectrum thing he and Dammek want to do, but i see zero evidence of him ever being a Time player and i'm really confused because it seems to be such a well held theory...

Arena Stickball is heavily related to Time through the Felt Imagery, and Xefros makes several references to not having enough Time to do things, as well as at least one Rap where he actually talks about Time. Being a Singer (Music), and a Rustblood (Comunnion with the Dead, similarities to Aradia), also gave some potential Time ties. It should be pointed out that, while Xefros is a Rage Player, his relationship with Time is still very much existent.

See, it is my belief that, even though every individual Player has an Aspect that’s not restricted to any of the 12, the fact there’s ‘True Signs’ for each Caste with a Moon and Aspect Alignment implies that, on some level, every single Troll of that Caste is somewhat bound to that Aspect. Which makes sense, with Fuchsias being bound to Life, and having to take care of Gl’bgolyb, the Purples being tied to Rage and Chucklevoodoos, Golds to Doom, Psiionics and Technology… There’s too much about Time with Xefros to ignore it as misdirection- But the thing is that the poor thing is being held back in his Hive.

Dammek isn’t doing him any favors, he thinks little of himself, society expects him to behave and become like something he doesn’t want to. He doesn’t outwardly express Rage too much, because it’s being held back. Joey giving him a little bit of confidence by the end of Act 1 is a good step away from these habits, but it also means that through the majority of Act 1, Xefros seems more Timebound. He shows a closer affinity for the Time Aspect, not because it’s his true calling, but because it’s literally in his Blood- It’s societal expectations, it’s Alternia’s oppressive regime. And what better way show breaking free of an Aspect that is not your own, than through a Rage Player?

Hey, while you were explaining how Gamzee and Caliborn's stuff ended up in his session, you kept referring to it as "Earth-C". I thought Earth-C was the endgame new universe, and Caliborn (and Caliopie) came from Earth-B, long after it was decimated by meteors and the alpha kids left?

Yeeeah? Earth-C is Earth-B. It was Captchalogued and brought onto the new Universe. That’s why the Meteor is there- The Meteor, coming from the Beta Troll Session, reaches the Alpha Kids Session, and a single Defense Portal sucks it to Post-Apocalyptic Waterworld Alphaverse Earth. Then the gang Captchalogues it using John’s Dad’s ridiculous god damn Fetch Modus and hold onto it until the Battle is over, where Dave terraforms it to not be a flooded Hellhole anymore, and they pop it in the New Universe orbiting the ‘Thanks for Playing’ Sun.

Which makes you wonder, would there not have been a Planet to inhabit had they not brought their own? Like- The Kids are all God Tier, but the Trolls aren’t. Where does the Door exit? Would they’ve just ended up floating in the middle of Space like “FUCK” and died? My headcanon is that they actually come out precisely on the “Thanks for Playing” thing, where there’s a pocket of Oxygen, and they just have to deal with Alchemy or their God Tier Powers about getting a planet going.

Do you think all Capricorns worship Lord English?

I’d imagine there are outliers, but given the grasp English has on Alternia and the cult-like nature of the Subjugglators, I’d say it’s risky and reason for exile, if not outright death, to not worship Him.

Homestuck Help!?

jokers-oneonly13:

If Jade is Jake’s granddaughter, and Joey and Jude are Jake’s kids, which one of them is technically Jade’s parent?

Jake and Jane! Genetically speaking, Jake and Jane are Jade’s genetical bases, and Jake raised Jade up until he died, at which point Bec himself sort of took the role of being her parent? As far as we know, Jade never met Joey or Jude.

i bet the soleil twins are lucky that they were born as a highblood - if they were a low/mid-lowblood they'd probably be executed for being "deformed" or whatever - twins are rare in humans, but aren't they like, astronomical in trolls?

They don’t necessarily need to be that astronomical- Specially knowing the Mother Grub lays like a LOT of Troll Eggs and a lot of them don’t make it out of the Brooding Caverns, something tells me there’s more Twins we know of.

This is a big misconception, however, the thought that ALL MUTANTS in Alternia are fated to be culled. Karkat was bound to be culled if they found out his SPECIFIC Mutation, because it made him the lowest of the low, he was entirely outside of the Hemospectrum. The Sufferer had it even tougher because back in the day there weren’t even Crimson Blooded Lusii to take care of him, forcing the Dolorosa to protect him and raise him.

But Sollux is a Mutant as well, remember? And Equius is said to be freakishly strong even for an Indigo. Honestly with what we know about Troll Reproduction, and seeing them have 12 different Blood Colors and an entire sub-species of Seadwellers, it’s obvious the Troll Genome is incredibly volatile and prone to Mutation. But as long as this Mutation isn’t considered a hinderance? Say, an odd number of limbs, lacking eyesight (And not having a cool Dragon Mom to teach you how to unlock Synesthesia), that kind of things would be grounds for Culling. There’s no reason to Cull someone for having Psiionics that can be used to power a Spaceship, or for being extra-powerful, and I don’t see why being born from the same Egg would be any different.

What I’m trying to say is, this is Alternia’s system in a nutshell.

image

Is it possible for the indigo twins to wear masks for the interpretation of the two messiahs? You know, they were mentioned when Gamzee became sober

It’s possible, but also remember they could be the Troll Equivalent of Tragedy and Comedy masks. Evocative, symbolic, but not necessarily just linked to the Messiahs.

Question: what exactly are chucklevoodoos?

They’re Psychic Powers Purples have that induce Nightmares on those around them. Through binding the Purple Caste to Lord English’ cult, they pretty much ensure his influence reaches every aspect of Troll Society, Sopor Slime being the only thing that can keep these violent Nightmares at bay. Fear tactics, messing with one’s mind… It seems that prolonged exposure to these can lead to full on mind-control like with Meulin, making it seem like a sort of telepathic corruption thing. Gamzee uses this power to inflict Nightmares to materialize both Cal in Dave’s Bedroom, and the Jack doll in John’s Bedroom in their Moons, making him responsible for both Lil Cal’s ‘origin’ and Jack’s eventual Ascension. Suck on THAT Vriska.

What did English do to Damara once she fled while Hussie was killing Doc Scratch? You know the whole "How do you expect to outrun me when I'm already there" banners at the top?

On a serious note, it seems likely he either brought her back in time to another point where Doc Scratch could continue twisting the poor girl into a Weapon for English, or perhaps inflicted the Curse that binds her to his service in that moment, pretty much ensuring she would have to follow his command.

However, and consider this. Damara takes a step back, gives him the middle finger, and then insults him in Eastern Alternian. At which point, English seems frozen in place, before crouching down in front of her.

“YOU. YOU SPEAK IN THE TONGUES. OF THE YAOIS. HOW DO YOU KNOW ABOUT THEM? WHO TAUGHT YOU?”

And they’re both dumbfounded because Damara is kind of terrified but also absolutely done with the skull-headed asshole equating her entire culture to shitty manga, and English just keeps egging her on being both mildly racist towards Eastern culture, and extremely racist towards Troll culture.

So how exactly do the 7 gates work, and would there be more gates the more people in a session?

In the Kids’ Session, the first Gate connects somewhere else in their World- The second, to another Land. Third, arguably to either another place in their Land or to another place in the next Land, Fourth to another land. Fifth and Sixth follow the same pattern with the last Land, and the Seventh leads to the Lair of the Denizen. This method makes it seem like the number of Gates in a Session is the (Number of Players * 2) - 1, which would leave it at 23 for the Trolls- However this doesn’t seem to be the case.

While the Kids’ Gates are all up on their Houses, and the Troll Sessions have Gates on top of their houses as well, there are also Gates and Return Nodes scattered through the Land Itself, some of them leading to other Lands just like the Gates above the Player Houses seem to, just like how Tavros’ Second Gate was over an unrelated windmill. Vriska also comments that Tavros’ Seventh Gate also leads to his Denizen’s Lair, an the Frog Temple’s structure implies there are always only Seven Gates above the Houses. This leaves the full structure of portals interconnecting the Lands a bit messy and very much unknown in any Session with less or more than 4 Players. Maybe the ones above the houses all link to different Lands instead of different parts of the Land? Or maybe they work the same, with extra ones scattered over the planet? No idea.

It’s not arbitrary, however- There are Seven Gates for a reason. Some say they represent the Seven Chakras, also known as Gates, with the Eighth one, Enlightenment and Unity with the Universe, being Skaia itself. I’m not quite sure if this is confirmed Canon by Hussie, however, and they could also reference the Seven Heavens of many religions, including Gnosticism, which Homestuck references directly in several occasions. And given the fact the Universe and ultimate objective of SBURB is a Frog, with Abraxas being the “Lord of Toads and Frogs”, I’m more inclined to believe they’re more of a reference to Gnosticism, but who knows! Either way, Seven Heavens or Seven Chakras, the Gates are most definitely symbolic, which implies that yes, there’s always 7 of them.

Mind+Rage= chucklevoodoos?

Chucklevoodoos seem exclusively Rage-oriented. I mean honestly most Troll Powers are Psychic, you could argue all of them are Mind-related.

I took the class test you have on your blog, and I was so surprised to find I had gotten Muse as my highest! I feel like I definitely identify more with the next three I had but the reason I brought it up is that I know my aspect is Rage through the official test, and I find the very thought of a Muse of Rage to be the most terrifying fuckery known to mankind. Thoughts?

It would most definitely be terrifying thing! Specially being the Passive, a Lord of Rage may Command Rage directly, but a Muse would inspire it upon others and upon themselves, and be more comfortable Commanding Through it and being Commanded by their own Rage. Someone who can turn Chaos itself against others and snap in the blink of an eye is a  w i l d  concept.

Mind seems to be more about the decisions one makes that cause timelines to split. It's not actually about psychology in a literal sense.

I mean, much like every other Aspect, they’re not merely a single thing. Breath is Freedom and Detachment but also literally Wind and Breath. Blood is Bonds and Friendship, but also literally Blood. I’m pretty sure Mind can literally be brain stuff, intelligence and thoughts as well.

what god tier would Albert Einstein be?

I don’t think I know enough about Albert Einstein to answer this question. He wrote and said a lot of stuff aside from the Theory of Relativity y’know.

what would a Muse of Mind be like?

Commanding Choice, through Choice, Inspiring Mind, Commanded by Mind… Hmmm… Do you know how John started choosing a third, nonexistent Option at some point in the story? With Vriska, with Typheus teaching him to use his powers, I could somewhat see them inspiring this sort of thing, a choice on others that allows them to escape vicious cycles and loops, a way out. I could also imagine them talking to others through Telepathy.

Hey! I was trying to come up with powers for a bard of life, but I couldn't think of anything. It's seems like it's power would like more in role fufilment (that their actions would lead to or alow alot of death) than actually abilities. Can you think of any abilities for a bard of life? And how do you think bards use their aspect destroy?

Remember that even though they’re passive and ‘Allow the Destruction of Life’, it doesn’t mean they can’t destroy Life Directly, I mean, I don’t think I need to explain how Gamzee could Destroy through Rage directly even though he’s Passive. So actual sort of, killing powers could definitely be a thing. Perhaps their very presence could be detrimental to plant life, you know the classic bad guy that just sort of. Rots plants as they walk? Other than that though, they could also Allow Destruction THROUGH Life. Either Life as Agency, with them having some quite intense control over things, or as in literal Nature, by making overgrowth happen, communion with plants, destruction of things with plants rooting themselves deep into buildings and claiming over civilization…

As for how they use it, I mean, it depends on the Aspect!

In all honesty the Cherub species is kinda two dimensional. With them basically being born good and evil, a standard. it's also kinda confusing too

I mean Aranea does mention of them having opposite predispositions, but consider- Two Cherubs who’re both very much Neutral, rather than Evil and Good, and instead are Chaotic and Lawful, without necessarily leaning towards being good and bad. I find them quite interesting! But there’s just not enough info about them.

Given the helmet thing Kuprum is wearing, it would seem that his ‘Backpack’ is some sort of Battery draining his Psiionics constantly, and from which Folykl drains energy for themselves, subsequently. I- Really don’t know if his powers are so powerful they need to be kept in check or if he’s just.

Training himself.

Yeah I’m definitely Kinkshaming.

Whar do you think a bard/prince of hope would be capable of?

I mean we have canon examples of these two, even if they’re the worst of the worst. With Eridan not only Destroying Hope, but also Destroying WITH Hope, the white magic beams. You could also say he even destroyed his hopes with Feferi by selfishly wanting more out of their relationship when Moirailship was already putting a strain on her.

Similarly, Cronus ruins his hopes of ever getting laid because he’s an awful, awful Seadweller. But before he was awful, he was said to be training to take down a powerful Wizard, which put him also on par with the whole White Hope Magic thing as Eridan, and obviously referenced Harry Potter of all things.

how do you think Cherubs are tied with Hiveswap? Apparently Doc Scratch is too? How does that work?

The Portal is some kind of Cherub Juju, that’s… I mean.

image

That’s very much obvious, and the red-green motif has appeared in Hiveswap a lot. I’m not sure how directly tied Cherubs themselves are, we’ll see more about it as time goes on.

As for Doc Scratch, his presence is pretty much confirmed.

image
image

He’s also the Hint System, and is implied to be working with Trizza through a paper on Dammek’s wall.

Hi! I was wondering the meaning behind a muse/Sylph of blood as that's my aspect and I took your test and got muse, but I also think Sylph would work as well?? Sorry if I worded this weirdly..

I talked about the Sylph of Blood already, but a Muse of Blood… Commanding Bonds and Unity, they may really bring others together under the same banner or befriend like, everything in existence, but also Commanding Blood or Through Blood or By Blood… I am not quite sure what they would do with physical blood, ‘inspiring blood’ and ‘uniting people’ really sounds a bit Crusader-like.

Sorry for the second ask today, but what do you think a thief of rage's powers might be like? Would it be like sponging away the party's (or even enemies..?) resentment/chaos? perhaps using that to gain their own strength? Or do you think it'd be more like taking chaos from the surroundings and using it to their own gain? Like for example using the confusion of a badly set up session to benefit themselves hmm

Both could work for sure! Someone who steals and stockpiles rage for themselves sounds both very chaotic and also very angry. I believe I argued with the Rogue they’d be able to pacify the enemy while also bring others to a Berserker-like state, so it’s likely the Thief would just go Berserker themselves.

are the master classes reserved for two player sessions? or can there be a Muse or Lord of aspects that aren't Time or Space?

Lords and Muses not being Time or Space are very possible, but we literally know nothing about the Master Class assignment. Whether it’s because of 2-Player Sessions or because of Cherubs, or if a normal Session can have a Lord or a Muse, it’s up for speculation.

could you maybe go into a little more detail on the idea that your aspect can be something that you have to grow into and learn in order to be a better person?

That’s not exactly true however- An Aspect isn’t for you to become a better person, since it would imply that people with affinity to their Aspects can’t be assholes and. I mean. We have many canon examples of this not being the case.

What Aspects can be, however, is something related to Character Growth, say… Let’s take Xefros as an example, because I love this boi. Through the entirety of Act 1, and arguably, for all of his life, he’s thought little of himself, he’s been trapped, repressed, by society, by Dammek not being the best Moirail. And Joey comes along and she encourages him that he can be revolutionary too like Dammek is, that he’s brave and can be strong! And being part of the Revolution, he’s going to be growing into that Rage, learning to have Confidence in himself, and become a powerful force against the Empire. That’s how you grow into an Aspect positively.

You also have, for example, Eridan, who was skeptical of Magic and Faith, but eventually accepted it and had a Wand made for himself. Once he accepted Hope, he became a powerful force that single-handedly knocked Sollux out, and killed two Trolls and the Matriorb in the blink of an eye. Here, Eridan was acting selfishly and being an asshole, but we could see that, once he accepted his Aspect, he became powerful.

The way you grow into your Aspect, or if you already were very tied to it, depends heavily on the individual, and not all the growth has to be positive, but it does expose a visible development.

how would a two cherub player session actually work? would they have enough time before the reckoning? would the game divide them into two separate bodies so they can each have their own planet? could it ever work, or was calliope naive to think that it would?

I mean, regardless of what happened in the Session, Calliope and Caliborn did each have a Dreamself. If Caliborn hadn’t made Jack kill Calliope’s, even predominating, it’s arguable her Dream Self would’ve continued to live on. The body proper would never be split in two, but Dreamselves do exist! The entry process, however, may have been a bit Fucked Up, because even though they’re two Players, they would’ve entered as one, leaving a Client without Server, and unless they could’ve set up a way to enter one at a time somehow, like Sawtooth and Squarewave entering with Roxy’s and Dirk’s lands, they would’ve been stuck in a Session with one Land. Even if they did enter, though, Calliope and Caliborn have no volcanos anywhere nearby, so while they may have been able to escape the Red Sun about to go Supernova by joining a Session, it would’ve been Null. Cherubs sharing a body, basically, only fuck over the already difficult process of winning the game, but it doesn’t seem completely /impossible/.

so is "His Honorable Tyranny" a troll or a monster? and if it is justt a random monster, why implement it into the Alternian justice system?

It’s a Monster or perhaps a Lusus of some kind. We don’t really know much about him, other than the Drones and Condy’s ship really look like him, and that his blood is Black. Maybe he’s the base from which all Drones are made, or perhaps he’s the ‘male’ counterpart of the Mother Grub? Like, the Mother Grub being a Lusus that gives Birth to all Trolls on Alternia, the Mother of the Trolls, while His Honorable Tyranny would be a Figure of Authority that keeps the Alternian Judicial System in check, the Guardian of the Trolls.

This is all just speculation though, for all we know he’s just a security measure so Trolls don’t go killing each other in court.

wait.... if the Mother Grub the same species as the trolls? I don't understand how it is able to even give birth to trollss

The Mother Grub is a Lusus Naturae, but I mean Trolls have incredibly volatile genes and the Lusii are all apparently a similar species enough to fall under the same category, even though they vary wildly from one another. You could consider the Mother Gurb as a sort of ‘Queen Troll’ of sorts, wildly different but technically the ‘same species’ so to say?

Or you could consider the Mother Grub a Host. I personally headcanon that Trolls have a sort of parasitic, symbiotic relationship with Mother Grubs, and that they’re just using them to produce their spawn. You’d have to ask Hussie about the details of Troll Reproduction.

wut other headcanons do you have about trolls or Homestuck in general?

That’s a bit too broad isn’t it? There’s way too many things in the comic to Headcanon about. I have Headcanons about characters and events and post-canon content but nothing stands out particularly from the rest.

do you think it is painful when a troll breaks a horn?

I headcanon it’s more painful and sensitive at the darker orange zones- Like the yellower it is, the less nerve endings there are and the less it would harm to chip them. However, the fact Mallek has Horn Piercings seems to imply either they don’t hurt too much, or that he prefers the pain of drilling his horns than not looking rad with those piercings.

so.... are Vriska, Meenah, Aradia, Davepeta, Sollux and Tavros dead?

Meenah and Tavros? Dead. They’ve been Dead for a long time, buddy, they were ghosts and they’re still ghosts. Vriska? She faced English and seemed to be the one closest to the Black Hole compared to the rest of the army. I would like to think she’s dead- A fitting end, stealing people’s relevancy and self-inserting herself as the most important thing ever, only to End along with the Big Bad. Villain and ‘Heroine’, almost poetic.

Now though, Aradia, Davepeta and Sollux? Neither of them seemed to be too close to the action by the end, specially Aradia who we actually see, staying back away from the Black Hole, enough that she can actually just watch the destruction as she wanted. I’m kind of hoping Terezi finds them and brings them to Earth-C and they learn to just leave Vriska behind together.
