Hi! What should I do when trying to find the classpect of someone who's very selfish, but is also way more comfortable being reactive rather than proactive? (Given that the aspect is Void)
A Thief or Page could still work, but specially maybe look about either a Mage or a Witch. As opposed to the Make/Destroy Classes, the Change/Know Classes are way more flexible when it comes to their role.
i know i already made a post about this but i just cant imagine how massive pyralspite is, if she ate mindfangs lusus, presumably the same as spidermom whole she would have to be somewhere close to this size at minimum
see that tiny spec in front of spidermom? thats not an odd misstep with my editing, thats vriska,
just please draw more fanart of The Pyropes and there mile long mom
I could argue about Pyralspite maybe eating Spidermom like some sort of Snake, where they can devour bigger prey, or perhaps Mindfang exaggerate.
But I am not going to, because Pyralspite really is that god damn fucking big.
Size in Homestuck is a fickle, confusing thing, but Pyralspite is humongously oversized.
A video on YouTube made me feel like utter shit for being a Bard of Doom. Am I really gonna end up hurting everyone around me friend and foe?
That’s dumb, not only are they generalizing every God Tier of that kind down to a single thing, they’re also forgetting the ‘Destroying Doom’ part of the equation which straight up serves as the opposite of hurting others. Saving others from certain Doom. In fact, given the Bards tend to be a bit obsessive about their convictions, if your Friends are people you want to aid and help, a Bard of Doom would fight with all they have to prevent anything bad from happening to them. Sure they can invite Destruction of stuff in general but that doesn’t mean they can’t also Destroy Destruction in itself.
Let's say all Aspects shipped, not just Heart players. I would assume each has their own way of doing it. Heart by how it makes them feel, regardless of canon/possibility. Void loves the ships that are kept secret, or are in secret. Mind has a chat with everyone planned out with reasons and canon evidence, and has hypothesises about what's going to happen(and is probably right on both fronts). Blood prefers ships like moirails. So on and so forth. You can fill the rest if you want
OMG you're right but Stellarlum Salve and Carne Vale seem unrelated though. Prospit & Derse also has complementary soundtrack too: Core of Darkness/Center of Brilliance, The Golden Towers/The Obsidian Towers
classpect for someone who thinks about every outcome and stresses on that all the time to the point where they just wanna give up or don't even know what to do
@mun: Hhhhhhhh. You're making me love the Cheribum album now!!!!!!
I love the Cherubim album, the duality showcased between the Calliope and Caliborn songs are great, and there’s always Leimotifs shared between songs, just a little change of rhythm, instrumentation, or scale, and bam, it switches from calm and lovely Callie to. Well. Caliborn.
I bet you’re expecting a jokey answer. Well guess what, you ain’t getting it, you’re getting serious Classpect Bedroom Analysis.
Thing is you could make a case for most Aspects to be good in bed, so rather than a scale, they’re all bunched up together quite far up with a few exceptions. So these first ones may be ordered arbitrarily.
Heart would obviously be the best in the bedroom because of its association with Feelings and Pairings always made it seem like THE Aspect for that kind of thing.
Hope goes right next because of the associations between Hope and… Well I mean. Volcanos spewing lava, long-tailed white elementals squirming, expansive climatic releases of Hope Energy. I mean.
Time goes next because Time Clones. That and fighting intensity likely makes for quite the experience.
Blood, for its ties to bonds similar to Heart, but in this case it’s more about knowing exactly what your partner wants.
Life duh, don’t even get me started on Zillion-Babies-Life-Charged Trickster Jane Crocker.
Space would be good as well, it lays back and yields when it needs before ‘roaring back and taking everything with it’. Yeah.
Mind would be crafty in bed so they’d be able to pull off some interesting stuff I guess.
I was going to make a case about Void perhaps not being too good in bed, but if Roxy and the Zahhaks are anything to go by, we know Void Players are a bunch of kinky motherfuckers.
Light may know what’s best for the situation but I feel their wordiness may be a detriment to the overall experience.
Doom goes low because, while there could be some kinky things with them, the whole suffering deal likely makes them- Wait a second is this a self drag? >:/ I’m starting to think this ranking is a little bit bullshit.
Rage goes next because… Yeah. Rage. It’s just an overall confusing and messy time.
And Breath goes last because, Detachment, they are just kind of not that interested.
Arguably no, since Aranea puts the way her wounds heal quickly after being inflicted as something very special from her Ring, so God Tiers likely only regenerate after dying.
Isn’t the difference between a mage and seer is that a mage will use there visions and knowledge for there own Benefit or go out and do what they see in there visions. While a seer will allow there knowledge to benefit others and allow the things in there visions to happen ( but both can allow or do what needs to be done ex. Terezi killing vriska is a more active thing )
I mean yes you’ve put the Active-Passive Dichotomy in a good light, but each Class specifically has a few special things that are exclusive to them, so there’s more difference between Mages and Seers, but power-wise that’d be just about it.
What could a Witch of Time do that a Maid of Time couldn't?
Maybe Speed Up Time? We know the Maid can Stop and Slow Down Time, they’re Making Time for themselves, getting a few more seconds to do stuff, while their adversary is locked in time, but Speeding Up Time may not be something they can do. It’s a bit difficult to think of specific things right now, I’m sure there are some more clear examples but nothing comes to mind.
Do you think all Lords are Derse dreamers and all Muses are Prospit Dreamers?
I mean it would make sense because of the Derse-Active and Prospit-Passive thing, but given a Witch can be Prospit and a Seer can be Derse, I don’t see why the same can’t be true for Muses and Lords.
What would be the role of a Page of Mind in a normal session?
Whatever said Page of Mind makes out of their Role. Same with every other Classpect. Roles in a Session, a Group, in Paradox Space, is a deeply personal thing.
Question, how is Derse-Active and Prospit-Passive?
What exactly determines whether a person is a Derse or Prospit dreamer? Or is it just random?
I wouldn’t say random, but it’s certainly vague. I guess it’s a little like sorting hat logic in Harry Potter (which I have a really halfassed understanding of because I haven’t read it), but even more vague, and more binary.
You get some sense there is rhyme and reason to it when you look at the personality types of the two groups. John, Jade, Jake, Jane vs Rose, Dave, Dirk, Roxy. And the troll groups were divided by their teams, red vs blue. Blue team (Derse) was generally stocked with more scheming members. Red team (Prospit) had some more straightforward heroic types, at least as far as trolls go. But then there can be oddball designations that don’t seem to make sense by such simplistic parameters, like Vriska being on Prospit. If she and Nepeta were swapped the criteria might seem more clear cut. See again, sorting hat logic. Like I think Harry was supposed to be in Slytherin because he could talk snakes and was kind of moody and shit but he was just SO BRAVE and loved friendship SO MUCH he got put in the other one. But for real, my fanfic where he was a Slytherin all along is so much better. (he is naked in most of it)
You could also look to the passive/active nature of the classes in making some retroactive sense of the Derse/Prospit dreamer duality. Passive/active classes are also a pretty vague thing, and don’t resolve so easily into simple dualities like defensive/offensive and such. Those are the guidelines for understanding them, but there is clearly a lot of flexibility within that system. They seem to suggest tendencies rather than absolute capabilities. Like there isn’t a rule that says a passive class could never use an offensive technique. The system is meant to be very flexible, and in the story, classes suggest a little more about a hero’s path and role in the greater quest than what their battle capabilities are.
But if we’re saying active/passive literally translates to offensive/defensive for the sake of this topic, then Derse would be very active and Prospit would be very passive. Derse’s job is to attack. Prospit’s is to defend. This seems to carry over to the roles of the dreamers too. Dave and Rose turned out to be very active players. Dave time traveling all over the place, making a fortune on stocks and such. Rose went on her crazy solo mission to break the game and fight Jack. Jade and John had more passive roles through most of that, players who were “acted upon” by other players and circumstances. John was always being led around by trolls this way and that, drifting around wherever the wind took him. Jade was especially passive for a lot of the story, spending a lot of time falling asleep (or being put to sleep) at key moments. It wasn’t until she reached god tier as a Witch (said to be a highly active class) that she became extremely active, making lots of stuff happen, rounding up planets and all that. Rose may have been a similar case, being excessively active as a Derse dreamer, but then flipping over to a passive role upon reaching god tier as a passive class.
Being from Derse means you are from a culture of offense and aggression. Being from Prospit means the opposite. You could argue that these are qualities that either rub off on the dreamers, or they are designated as those dreamers in the first place because of those qualities. You could take the view that these are innate tendencies to overcome, as seemed to be the case for Jade and Rose. Or maybe sometimes they are tendencies that are resisted, and need to be understood and embraced. As a Prospit dreamer, did Karkat struggle because he was actually passive in nature, but had a very active self image as a leader and conqueror? Was Vriska an even more extreme case of misplaced active behavior from a Prospit dreamer? These are yet more things to consider when looking at everything contributing to the hero story of an individual in this game.
Seer of Time grabbing an enemy then tossing their consciousness back in Time leaving behind their body ("guiding" them through Time) can also send their own consciousness across timelines
So. A Seer of Time enacting A Christmas Carol is what you’re saying.
I think the roles of Witch and Maid don't have much difference in their powers. I think their difference lies in their role in their session.
It depends- Maids Improve and Make Better, as well as Make. They can also be seen as ‘keepers’ of their Aspect, and to be ‘Made’ of their Aspect. A Witch may manipulate their Aspect, but they’re not ‘made’ of it, whatever that entails. They may Change what is already there, but not Make something new, perhaps. But there is an overlap with both the Make class AND the Destroy Class, since Changing allows them to reach the Improve and Reduce sort of sides of them.
shoot that should be a thing. A SBURB Carol, starring the Seer of Time. Ghost of Christmas Past - Maid of Time Ghost of Christmas Present- Heir of Time and Ghost of Christmas Future - Lord of Doom/Time
Snrk, I mean, the Seer of Time alone may suffice as all three roles, but that’d be fun.
Are specific classpects more predisposed to which lunar sway they have ? Like even though it’s shown that not every time player has to be a derse dreamer ( shown by extended zodiac ) we’ve seen all time players be derse while every space player be prospit. As well every void player be a derse dreamer. So does that mean your classpect doesn’t necessarily decide your lunar sway but it can make you more predisposed ? ( also I know they canonicity of the extended zodiac is iffy at best )
Refer to that last post I posted regarding Dreamer Moons. Whatever your Dreamer Moon is is rather dubious, and the Extended Zodiac told us they’re not locked to Aspects or Castes, so it’s quite the hard to pin-point thing!
Also what do you mean the ‘canoncity of the extended Zodiac is iffy at best’, that’s our only 100% canon source of info on the Aspects.
"Trust nobody, not even yourself" might feet Bard or Prince of Blood as the "ULTIMATE BACKSTABBER". Like, so good backstabber that they backstab themselves. Or Bard or Prince of Heart if we emphasize the "not even yourself" part.
So here’s an theory ( or is it canon, I don’t know )|. But the way the classes work is that the more broad the verb the less intense the powers are like the change and know classes can be seen as the jack of all trades master of none type (except changing and knowing) while the more specific verbs can do one thing incredibley well but can only do that like destroy and creating are stronger but less versatile
It is kind of a good look, the Make and Destroy Verbs are more specific, but they can still be versatile at times. Still one thing the Classes do have is an easy to flip between Active and Passive roles the more ‘broad’ and versatile they are, as well as being more aligned with the opposing verb. Such as Know and Change being basically the bases of the Scientific Method and almost intrinsically connected, but Make and Destroy are complete polar opposites. Broadness and Specifiity don’t mean more Powerful and more Weak, either- Witches are quite the potent Active Class after all. So the line of what they can do becomes rather blurry.
could a Maid of Mind be able to use genjutsu by creating new stimuli in the Mind and use things like Tsukoyomi or Kotoamatsukami? i'm curious as to what they are able to do
That’s something they could definitely do, I can’t remember the second but the former does sound plausible.
I’ve been seeing a lot about mages performing miracles and such. What exactly does that mean? Does that mean they can use there powers to some how influence and control there aspect ? If you think about it that way than there’s little difference between the change and know classes, honestly the dichotomy betweenness then is so flipping confusing.
That’s the point though- Compared to the Make/Destroy Classes, the Change/Know Classes are much more closely related. Knowing and then Changing is a basis for both Magic and Science, they’re deeply interwoven. But the focus of a Heir and Witch is still mostly the Change, where the Seer and Mage are more focused on the Knowing. But if you Know, you can Change, and to Change, you tend to need to Know what you’re doing.
As for Miracles, they’re just a way of saying ‘Performing Aspect-related feats’, just oriented to the fact Mythological Prophets do tend to do Miracles. Meulin is literally referred to as a ‘Miracle-Worker’ regarding Relationships, in fact.
a Maid or Sylph of Mind creating electricity or creating massive gigantic neurons that criscross throughout the area around them, essentially creating a neuron shield that discharges electricity
That’s a cool way to see it, but also imagine a Maid or Sylph of Mind having string-based alchemized weapons- Maybe Puppets like Alice from Touhou or something like that, creating an interwoven string net that THEN fires up like Neurons. That could be a cool concept for a combo of Classpect and Weapon.
Hey I think that Bard of Doom was talking about void guy maybe. Void guy has a really old video on Bard of Doom that's kinda negative and seemed fearful. I hope that Bard of Doom felt better after your post.
I’ve never heard about it really. Generalizing ANY God Tier as inherently Evil or inherently Good is bad though, even the Lord and Muse.
Not a question, more like a useless piece of information that doesn’t fit on my blog but I’ve never seen it mentioned that the human kids guardians all follow a three letter rule. Mom, Dad, Bro, Pop and Jade even made Bec fit the rule by shortening his name. But anyway....
Not really though, Grandpa is called GRANDPA in Homestuck, and just PA in Hiveswap, as far as I can recall ‘Pop’ is only used for John, as Poppop.
So here's a thought on my mind. I have a headcannon that thiefs of breath would be able to float by manipulating the air around them, but at the same time they might choke anyone nearby / accidentally throw someone around nearby by manipulating the air and not paying attention. Think that would be something logical?
I mean yeah it could happen but it’s also a very useless power because Flight is something all God Tiers and Dream Selves naturally have without need to use any more powers, soooo why risk it with dangerous Breath-Flight?
Is it plausible for a seer/mage of light to be able to change the luck of events happening through there powers as well could they be able to cast illusions and such using light ?
Illusions, quite likely since it could be a basic Light power, but changing the Luck is more specific- Rather, by their knowledge of chance, they would be able to always bet properly in games of chance.
Okay, this is something that has confused me for a VERY long time: which timeline did gamzee raise Calliope and Caliborn? Which timeline did Alt. Calliope come from? I know it has to be Pre or Post retcon because Calliope managed to kill Caliborn due to not meeting the alpha kids and the lack of technology at hand. It has to be post retcon due to the black hole jack made, but that would mean calliope would come from the post retcon timeline??? Then how could she exist BEFORE the retcon hapened?
Alt Calliope comes from a Doomed Timeline, so the Retcon has no bearing on how she came to be. It’s also arguable Gamzee raises Calliope and Caliborn in ALL the Timelines in which he gets to the Alpha Session, Doomed Timelines not being tied to the Alpha give them a larger range of possibilities, the issue is the Timelines we do see- Game Over Timeline, John Steals The Ring Timeline, and Post-Retcon Timeline, these are all potential sources of some of the Endgame events we’ve seen, but there’s to little information to really pin-point any of them properly.
So I’ve had this idea in my head and, well, what if a knight of void used their cape as an invisibility cloak to protect their friends, like the one from Harry Potter
That’d actually be a cool detail, and possible given Jade’s outfit technically shines with Stars during [S] Cascade, detail that’s not seen later if I recall, but that implies GT Clothes can do cool shit like that.
No offen, but is the idea that a seer of doom being that one person with the tinfoil hat true? Is it not common for a seer of doom to be that person who has a plan for literally any possible disaster and has all the contingency plans ... all of them
This is exactly why I think Jude Harley is a Seer of Doom. No offence taken. *Puts on Tinfoil Hat*
I know that lusus are large care animals. I know that the horrorterror that belongs to the heiress is beyond huge. Is it possible for kaiju sized lusii to exist?
I’m pretty sure Pyralspite is Kaiju sized so, yes!
So wait, you said that seer and mage class can change there aspect through there immmense knowledge of there aspect ? So than why can’t a seer and mage of light change the outcome of, say a coin flip with magic or other means since they would know how to? ( I don’t mean to sound argumentative if I do, I’m merely confused on the change by knowing thing )
I mean it COULD be possible! But since the Know/Change divide is dubious enough as is, /I/ personally like to think the divide is in the Powers and the way they Act. Basically- Both Know and Change Classes are tied to Knowing and Changing things- But a Know Class’ powers would consist of means to Know, and then with said knowledge they would Change things by their own will and power rather than God Tier Powers, while a Change Class would have to Know things without aid of their powers, but could have means to manipulate things through their abilities. This way they’re both tied to Knowing and Changing, but the divide is clearer- Seers and Mages’ powers consist on ‘Knowing’, and from them they may influence a Change or strive to Change things in whatever way they can, whereas a Witch or Heir may need more guide to understand what they have to do, but would have an easier time to start getting things done and Changing things however they need to. But that’s just my Headcanon to simplify things, and it doesn’t have to match yours.
In this example, Luck just seems to Abstract of a Concept to Change without special abilities, but say, a Mage of Doom could see who’s going to Die, and physically try to prevent their death by any means necessary, no powers needed.
Do you mind giving a classpect to some the characters in Undertale?
I should take my time on this, and this is old, but it’s 4:30 AM and this is the last Ask I have in my Inbox before going to sleep, so have this old document I had trying to give a Classpect to each Undertale Character and giving up half-way. I may make a more in-depth re-classification later.
Oohhh I get it now. So seers and mages can’t necessarily change with magic, they only know things ... with magic. But they can use there knowledge and will to change outincomes that they don’t want. Ex. A mage of light receiving a vision of some important event than changing the event to fall into there favor by doing it themselves. Or with the coin flip thing they can’t really influence the luck itself but maybe the factors leading up to the coin flip so it CAN fall in there favor.
Exactly! That’s my thinking when it comes to the Mage/Seer Witch/Heir conundrum at least.
