January 2018

Ok bear with me bc I have no one to talk to about Hs and I love your blog 😭 for a long time I assumed I was a light player because I have a fortunate life, due to having enough money & a fam that loves me. I use to think I was a heir, then a maid, but now I feel like I may be void. I have always had secrets, mostly pertaining to mental illness I’ve had since very young, and I put up a front of to hide my issues. I feel like rose, how she was dark and became light. Idk sorry if I rambled :/

If you feel that way, perhaps there’s still development to be had in your case! Like, having to keep secrets and put up a front to hide issues isn’t the most healthy thing, so perhaps it is something like Rose being more Voidy and learning to be more Lighty, but perhaps in your case it’s another Aspect entirely. I’d say sticking with Light for now and waiting to see what life has in store for you and how things develop to get a fresher, updated view on your Aspect in a nearby future you’re more comfortable in.

I remember I used to think I was a Mage of Space except something never really felt right. So like after months of searching the internet and really digging around in my brain, I figured out Mage of Void fits me a lot better and I understand it much more. So if your not really sure about your God Tier don't be afraid to do a little research, because 9 times out of 10 your probably going to find something that fits you better.

Yeah! Specially if something doesn’t feel right. Also do not be afraid of sticking with an Aspect that’s not your actual Aspect for a while, sometimes you need a while to truly understand how a Class-Aspect Combo works or how you relate to certain Aspects, and spending a while figuring things out- Figuring yourself out, is totally fine.

What would be the strangest class/aspect combo. Like something that normally wouldn't really fit together, but does anyway.

I’m going to go with the Seer of Void because I still love the ‘Knowing Nothing’ implication, and also the Jon Snow memes.

Would the Prince of Doom claim to be pro life, but die anyway?

He’s Destroying Doom, and Through Doom. What if he’s Pro Death, but Undies Anyway?

Can rouge and theif be a classpect for both male and female? I know the wiki says it can be but most canon characters that have that class are female.

Classes are not Gender Restricted.

When Brain Ghost Dirk disappeared as a result from Jake dying and losing Aranea's power, why did his sword stay behind?

Dirk is a Living Being, while the Sword is just an object. It seems similar to how Roxy can easily make Cubes but struggles with more complex things. In the same way, a Katana is something simple and streamlined enough that you don’t need to keep believing it’s there for it to be there, Dirk meanwhile is a projection of Dirk’s personality made to protect Jake, that’s a bit harder to maintain than a static object.

(Light/void anon here) Ahh thanks for the advice!! sorry if it was a weird ask, idk I’m just kind of at a cross roads of sorts in life and my classpect kind of resurfaced

No, it’s okay don’t worry! I hope things go well for you soon! :o

I saw a post explaining that Santa Claus is the Bard of Time, the OP said that Santa invites the destruction of time every Christmas. What are your thoughts about that?

This is a clear case of seeing Santa’s Supernatural Abilities and assuming a role based on the powers, without considering multiple Powers could explain the same abilities, of course. Although I do like the hat similarities.

That being said, let me take a moment to correct my own, old theory about Santa being a Knight of Space and let me confirm, right here and now, that Santa Claus is a fully realized Page of Hope.

First of all we have the Two Sides of Santa, most media portrays him as a Jolly Man who loves what he does and brings happiness to others, however many pieces of media also have that dark side of Christmas with either Santa disregarding his workers or becoming weary and tired of his duties. The Jolly stereotype fits that almost innocent attitude Pages have that draws others to help them, and at the same time, the oblivious disregard and preference to Serve Himself rather than Others fits just as well, creating the multifaceted Santa we know and love.

And while I thought Santa was a Knight because he Served Presents to others, he doesn’t offer Presents for Nothing. You must Believe in Santa Claus, and furthermore, you must leave Cookies and Milk for him! An act which is inherently selfish on his side. Serving him the Hope that he exists, Serving him Milk and Cookies Hoping that it will tip the balance on that Good and Naughty list and he’ll leave you the present you wanted. Having an army of Elves Serving Him to realize the Hopes and Dreams of Kids all around the world. And in return for this Servitude of Hope, he becomes a Beacon of Hope for a single day, giving everyone that deserves it what they want.

Would you be able to offer any advice regarding a doomed fansession? I came up with a pretty interesting idea, to my way of thinking, but am now backed into a bit of a corner with the implications. If not, do you think you could point me in the direction of someone who could help? Thanks! -M

Well if you’re a bit more specific about the Fansession and the issue you have with it I’d be glad to give my opinion!

What do you think a Sylph of Doom would be like? I'm curious. Ty!

Being able to Heal Doom, take pain away, fix unsolvable situations, you could think a Sylph of Doom would be kind with their team and want to aid them as a proper Healer, and that may be true! However I’m thinking about it in a more Morbid way right now.

Making Doom, slightly detached from their group with rich personal lives, a Sylph of Doom may actually be fascinated with Doom and death. Being able to Make Doom, and Make through Doom, as well as Heal said Doom back, I can’t help but think of someone running experiments with toxic, dangerous and very likely lethal things. Healing Doom as well? I’m imagining a Plague Doctor from Darkest Dungeons- Alchemist able to attack and inflict blight on targets, while having tools to remedy ailments for their own team.

If anyone were to be pro life but die anyway, it would be the Bard of Life.

You know what you’re absolutely right.

What do you think a Rogue of Heart could be like?

Nepeta! She’s a good example of some Roguish things, from isolation from society, disregarding the Hemospectrum and living in a Cave hunting her prey kinda savage-like, to loving her friends, having what’s become the staple Moirailship of the series, as well as being close to a bunch of other Trolls in the Meteor. It also shows through how much of a Heart Player she is by having a Shipping Wall and keeping track of everyone’s relationships.

And although we never saw her actually use her powers, since she didn’t ascend, Nepeta would be terrifying at full power, because that’s what we needed, making the Apex Predator even more terrifying. I’ve argued in the past that a Rogue of Heart would be able to steal people’s Souls and switch them around, pulling off Bodyswaps and the like, but she could likely straight up tear someone’s Soul out in a similar way to Dirk with Aranea. I can sort of imagine her claws glowing with pink crackles as she slashes through someone, and rather than blood or a physical wound you just see their Soul being yanked back and torn from their body.

Stealing Heart has also romantic connotations, being able to Steal Romance and Distribute it somewhat sounds like a Shippy Catgirl doesn’t it? Except being made into a physical power, she’d likely be able to make all of her Ships real, breaking relationships around and pairing them how she thinks they would fit better. Taking away parts of personalities she doesn’t agree with and tweaking the way someone acts wouldn’t be out of the question either. Arguably, too, they may be one of the few things able to separate a Prototyped Sprite into its components, and I once theorized she, or Davepeta, could have actually separated Caliborn’s Soul in Lord English from the rest of Souls.

I’m working on a troll who’s based around the idea of Bathos, essentially undercutting tragedy with comedy. I have them as a Bard of Light because I see that classpect as that one person who takes nothing seriously and can just, erode ideas or knowledge just by lazily disagreeing whilst offering no opinions. What do you think of this interpretation, and what do you think suits the idea of Bathos as a primary theme?

I like the idea, as far as I’ve seen looking it up, rather than Tragedy with Comedy, it seems more related to an Anticlimax of sorts dropping the escalating mood- Not unlike a lot of Homestuck itself actually, like how [S] Descend escalates up to the Strife between Jack and Bro and it just. Cuts to shows us Squiddles.

A Bard of Light would be good for this, the climax, the relevancy, the importance of a scene, suddenly Destroyed through the Bard’s Actions, it’d work well!

I have a Bard of Heart oc that destroys their own personality in order to be more like their guardian who is an Heir of Heart. The Heir of Heart expresses themselves through collecting rare artifacts and trinkets and displaying them across the house, but in a misguided attempt to copy them the Bard of Heart just ends up becoming a hoarder, not really having a rhyme or reason for anything they collect, but always losing the stuff they need.

That sounds like a good match- The Bard of Heart becomes obsessed with someone else’s Heart. The Heir inadvertantly Changes the Bard’s Heart. Destructive tendencies by being a copy-cat.

But also the Heir of Heart just kinda shows up in everyone else's personality, other people using their quirks or mannerisms with out even noticing, or their items just showing up around other people for them to collect.

Just unwittingly influencing those around them. One thing is a small, positive change though, and another is a Bard of Heart kinda obsessing about their way of being!

how does meulin tell what people are saying if she's deaf?

Lip Reading.

ROGUE OF SPACE VS KNIGHT OF RAGEZ please

Like… A Battle? Or… What exactly?

a battle please

I mean I have no idea how that’d go? One on One Battles between God Tiers with powers are bound to be chaotic and highly unpredictable, specially not knowing what each Player is fighting for or how they are.

Do you think inverting is necessarily bad? Like aradia inverse into a bard of space with her bots and helped win the session. I feel like it just has to be in moderation

I don’t think Inverting is a thing that happens, but when Players start acting or are forced to act a way that isn’t their Classpect, they’re usually unhappy. I don’t care if Aradia helped win the Session- Would you say, at any point, Aradiabot’s existence is happier and more healthy for her than God Tier Aradia?

Can you please give examples of page of space serving themselves space?

Isolating themselves from others to avoid their problems would be Serving themselves Space, as well as having others offer them presents and physical items- Either to arm them up and get them equip without them having to do it themselves, or gifting them something they may need in the future or just make use of in general. Also possibly having the First Guardian take care of them Serving them because they’re First Guardians and as such, Spacey.

Maid of Void and Prince of Rage as best "narrative breaking" pals. Sometimes they spoil the plot. Sometimes you encounter them on The Peak of Doom where they sell junk. Sometimes they wreak stuff just because. But you meet them everywhere. And no one seems to pay attention. Sometimes they cause massive anticlimax with their antics. And all their appearances are accompanied by some upbeat tune that again no one seems to notice.

“On the peak of Doom where they sell junk” I’m starting to notice a pattern here you guys, you all seem to enjoy powerful narrative-breaking characters just being salespeople.

Don’t worry, I love that too.

"Making aspect" is pretty straighforward. While "making thru aspect" is can be a bit confusing. But to think about it. Instead of creating aspect, using it as a tool to make stuff. It would require material that will be used for creating something new. Like using metal tools and fire to forge a blade. Maid of Blood, of course will have the most oblivious. Hammer and anvil.

The anvil anon. I mistyped “obvious” as “oblivious”.

Material, or a Method, or even a sequence of events, ‘Making through your Aspect’ can be difficult because you can interpret it in a bunch of different ways, but it’s this flexibility that makes it extra fun to theorize about too.

(Inverting anon) yeah that does make sense, maybe huss added it to show what happens when you beer from your classpect

In his Formspring and Tumblr asks he does imply a high degree of flexibility with Classes and Aspects, and Calliope directly references acting a different Aspect, with Canon showing us several examples of acting a different Class as well, so yeah, it’s very intentional.

heir of rage turns into a demon. actually it would be awesome if Rage players had demons on their planets similar to how Eridan had angels

But what if the Demons are just Clowns. What if that is the Rage Elemental. The Juggalo.

What Class would produce the most "free" Breath player? A bit of a vague question, but I am working on a character with a very free personality and they have the aspect of Breath, so I'd love to know about a class that matches that type of personality and aspect ^^"

A Thief or Lord sounds like they could fit the bill.

Ideas about what a Witch may do day to day?? Like yknow justgirlythings. That but justwitchythings. Thx

I mean it depends on who the Witch is, really.

Duh, I mostly say "and they sell junk in this ridiculous location" as a reference for merchants in jrpg. Traveling merchants. Who make no sense. They always sell armor that is slightly better then you are wearing. And you can always find them. In locations ranging from "normal town №54" to "Literal Hell". And they never give discounts even if all the world is destroyed and you having slighly better sword is the only hope for saving everything.

I wish the Merchant was the Final Boss of those games.

Concept: a Mage/Seer of Void being able to tell when someone is lying or like can tell when something isn’t real (like an illusion or something) because they know what’s not real

Yep.

The premise of the fansession is a Page of Time travelling all the way back to before they played Sburb and killing the Players and awakening their dreamselves so that they can try and win the game without dooming Earth. The problem is, this creates an unstable time loop as Sburb shouldn't exist without them playing it as far as I can tell, despite them having dreamselves. They also wouldn't have planets. Are they utterly doomed, or is there some game-breaky way to survive and possibly win? -M

There’s absolutely no way to win a Session like that. Not only would Paradox Space likely not allow such a timeline to not be doomed, but without Lands, there’s absolutely no way of creating a Genesis Frog, since there wouldn’t be Frogs anywhere. That being said, they would still be able to God Tier in the Moon Crypts.

With Hussie sort of talking about how the classes may not be as restricted by gender as they seem, would you say a gender-neutral individual would have access to every class, or just ones that aren't restricted? Do you think it's possible that more unrevealed classes exist exclusive to them or do you think that we know all the classes or that we don't and there aren't any exclusive to them?

There are no Gender Restricted Classes, so regardless of their Gender, anyone could be any Class. I personally don’t think there’s more Classes than what we see in Canon though, but it isn’t hard to come up with more, Fanon-wise.

Could a Mage or Seer of Void understand horrorterror speak and maybe release something similar to the vast glub and just kill a bunch of stuff

Understand Horrorterror Speak? Yeah. Vast Glub? Highly Unlikely. It’s not even a Horrorterror thing, it seems to be a Gl’bgolyb thing specifically.

Does a troll have to wear as sign shirt or can they wear a symbol, if it is over used in their spectrum?

I don’t exactly know what you mean here exactly. Signs and Symbols are kind of the same shirt, the origin of the Signs and how they are assigned is dubious, but there’s no thing such as ‘over used’, two Trolls sharing the same Sign is a really rare occurrence.

Could you maybe expand a bit on the Horrorterrors? They're the opposite to Skaia, against Creation and conspiring with the Dersite royalty against the players to oppose the breeding of the Genesis Frog... but why would they help players that dream on Derse? How are they the Derse dreamer's equivalent of Skaia's clouds if they're actually AGAINST the players? It doesn't quite make sense to me, and I'd appreciate your input.

Well, Derse is the Forces of Darkness sending Agents and commissioning Underlings to the Denizens to face the Players and stop them from completing the game, yet half of the Players dream there and are considered Nobility of some sort. I can’t recall who it was, but they actually point this out in canon. Between Game Mechanics, Dubious Motivations, Betrayals, and general fuckery because of the Horrorterrors’ Chaotic, Unpredictable nature, we can’t tell what their ultimate goal is. I mean you could also ask, if Skaia is the force of Light that Guides the Players, why the fuck does the Timeline do such fucked up things from time to time? They’re a battle of ‘Good’ and ‘Evil’, of ‘Light’ and ‘Darknes’, but at the end of the day, both Horrorterrors and Skaia are deity-like entities with Agendas that span Multiverses and that can’t be truly comprehended.

(Sorry i was pressed for time before) based on what you said before, what I meant was can a troll have a sign and a sort of 'nickmane' sign that they also go by? Like a made up symbol that they would use to identify their work.

I don’t think so, honestly the way every Troll wears a Sign seems like a creepy identificator made by the Tyrannical Troll Society. I bet changing Signs would be considered Taboo and a Cullable offense.

d'you think a prince of blood could destroy the bond between aspects and people? like for heirs it'd probably be nigh-impossible, due to the aspect probably just rebuilding the bond, but for mage/page of life, they kinda are seperated from their aspect, so it might just instakill them. i have no idea if this is plausible, but that's the first few things that i came up with when confronted with prince of blood

I don’t think so, I get where you’re coming from? But Heart would be a more appropriate Aspect for something like this. Blood is Interpersonal Bonds, Heart is your True Self- Even then it wouldn’t be changing or destroying your bond to the Aspect, but rather, who you are, which in turn would likely reflect as a different Aspect or Class. Still a bit dubious though, if someone can even physically change Aspects other than Roleplay or Corruption.

hey uhhh, quick question, sorry for bothering you, i know that blood works with bonds, but what about doom? I see a lot of people throw around "limits and restrictions" but i can't tell if they're overlapping or not,

I mean, you’re taking ‘Bonds’ from Blood as literally bindings oppressing and limiting someone, but I see Blood’s Bonds are the ties to other characters, which isn’t exactly a limiting factor, Friendship tends to be good most of the time! Doom, meanwhile, tying to the End of Things, ties in well with the theme of Limits.

Love your blog! Keep up the good work! I imagine that a Hero of Heart would be able to summon a 'manifestation of their spirit into a physical being that fights with them. The player can see and feel what the spirit does, and the spirit can physically interact with the environment. Which class do you think would be able to do this the best?

Why thank you! :D A Maid or Sylph would fit the bill better, but any Heart Player could fit the bill- Not like, power-wise maybe, but just thematically. Look at Dirk, his schtick is that there’s like a million Splinters of himself, some of which he shares a consciousness with, some which he hates. Dirk, Dream Dirk, Brain Ghost Dirk, AR, Brobot, hell with ARquius you could even say Lord English is partially a splinter of Dirk. Manifestations of Heart Players are plentiful without even the powers, adding the powers, having the copies that can feel what they do is like, a given.

What would be the differences in how a Maid of Mind and a Sylph of Mind "create" Mind?

Technically, none. You could say one leans more towards Creating Mind, and another Creating Through Mind (Both of which I believe I have talked about before? I’m not 100% sure now), but they would still be able to pull off both depending on the situation, and who the Maid itself is.

What do you think the classpect of Jude and Joey would be?

Seer of Doom and Maid of Light respectively!

How do you think a Prince of Light would fair against a Thief of Light in a fight? (This is mostly because I keep thinking of the hypothetical situation of me fighting Vriska jjhgigfyigethhi)

It may come down to Wits and Strategy, but given the Thief of Life can steal Light and become more Relevant, Lucky and such, and the Prince of Light can Destroy this, nullifying the Thief’s abilities, the Prince’d likely have the upper hand.

Could a Prince of Mind destroy someone's innate sense of logic and cause them to act on their impulses and natural instincts?

Sounds fair, making them not ‘Think before they Act’, it fits the bill, although I could see a Rage Player doing similar stuff to someone’s mind.

I think Jeoy is more of a sylph? She likes the idea of being a vet and even carries a small med kit.

Maids can Heal too, you know?

I mentioned earlier a Heart player that could summon a manifestation of their spirit Which heart player do you think would fit the bill of giving other players the ability to summon spirits of their own? Apart from having its summoner's senses and being able to touch stuff, each player's spirit could act as a focus for their powers. This could, in turn, probably act as a way to help said players unlock their powers.

I think rather than letting other players Summon their own Spirits, it would be the same Maid or Sylph summoning others’ copies by themselves, but otherwise, perhaps a Knight or Page since they’d ‘Serve’ their Aspect? Hmmmm…

Would a Maid of Rage be capable of being kinda like Atrocitus from DC? Ya know, spewing fiery blood/liquid anger that could easily melt the flesh from your bones and create Rage constructs.

I have no idea what goes on DC or Marvel but, that sounds Rage-y! I mean, ‘Liquid Anger’ is… Definitely a Rage thing as weird as it is, and Rage constructs works well enough.

Uh I have a god tier question! I'm writing a character and while I know their Aspect (which is Light), I'm not sure what their class would most likely be, and I wanted to ask for your opinion. They're fond of Light and they have a strong bond with it. Also, it's always been natural to them since they were young. They don't really put any work into it, they just kinda wait for Light to come to them. In my opinion it sounds like Heir, but I'm not sure because they aren't really "guided" by Light

Oof, I honestly don’t think that alone is enough to determine the Class, you’d need to dig deeper into the Character for an answer. If you think they’re a Heir though, go for the Heir!

Oh you're right. They mostly take up the "knowledge" part of Light rather than any other part, and can use it to their advantage. They're very good with logic and they usually come to the right conclusion after reasoning. They also have lucky numbers and objects, but they don't rely on luck too much.

Yeah that’s Light-y alright, although Mind could somewhat fit as well.

Just a quick question! Why do you think Joey and Jude are Light and Doom? I'm not gonna ask about classes since I know nothing about them but I'm interested in why Light and Doom since I personally see Joey as Life and Jude as Hope.

Joey has a lot of references to Life too, but she also has a ton of references to Light! She’s making a Show of her Strifes and her Adventure and her Life, with several references to the Spotlight, her Imagination is Great and there’s some emphasis on her Light-based games (Lite Brite, Simon says…), as well as her Flashlight being a Source of Light, of course. Meanwhile, Jude is just, always planning for the worst, his entire Character in Act 1 is basically “I KNEW WE WERE GOING TO BE ATTACKED EVENTUALLY BY CREATURES, GOOD THING I KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN AND PREPARED COUNTERMEASURES TO KEEP US SAFE!”

i thought that blood has more ties to bonds is bcuz breath has always been freedom. Since blood's the opposite, then it should include all bonds. if doom has limits and restrictions, which has more to do with bonds and connections to things? it LOOKS like blood, but then again, doom's whole limits things (which i consider things bonding to people) would also make it involved with bonds. i'm really confused bcuz i don't think that anything else is this closely connected when considering aspects.

See, the thing here is the assumption Aspects are Opposites- They’re not. They’re Complementary. Which can mean Opposite with some things, but not with others.

The thing you need to have in mind is that in thinking Breath being Freedom and Blood being Oppression, you’re considering Freedom to be inherently good and Bonds to be inherently bad by comparison. They’re both neutral. Freedom means Freedom to do things, yeah, but it comes from the Detachment of the surrounding world, which can be both good and bad. Similarly, Blood ties in to Bonds, but not because they’re oppressive and the opposite of Freedom- But because they’re the Attachment to People and Things that compliments Breath’s Detachment of their surroundings.

Now, the complimentary of Doom, however? Is Life. And Life relates to Agency, the power you exert on Reality, the power Reality exerts over you, the extent to which you can Do things. As such it would make more sense for Doom to be linked with oppressive limits rather than Blood’s Bonds, which are more related to Attachment.

What is your interpretation of mewrals?

I think they’re really cute together!

On the other hand, Doom also can be interpreted as systems. Which are a completely neutral thing.

Systems? In what sense?
