I feel like maid of void could create their own ‘grimdark’ in a sense they could do what rose did but manage it themselves bc it’s void
Making Void could definitely have Corrupting Implications, although likely still tied to Horrorterrors Stuff. After all, Grimdark is only Void because it’s a Horrorterror thing, not because it’s just Void in general.
Changing Hope sounds like it could have big implications- Both dismantling or showing proof of a certain Faith to sway someone’s mind, or making people’s Hopes and Expectations of what comes next change. They could easily bring the morale of everybody up by assuring them it’s going to be alright, as well as they could make everyone depressed and hopeless. Seems like Changing through Hope, too, could get extremely manipulative, like, getting people to change their attitude or influencing a Change on the world by giving people Hope can be kind of Cult-ish, but it could also work in a kind way, like… They’re a powerful and reliable force, you just know by them tagging along with you it’s going to be alright, changing the tides of battle through the Hope they radiate.
Hi!! why do you have the light aspect as your icon?? I thought you were a doom player?
I’m a Doom Player! But for a blog all based on canon explanation of Homestuck Stuff, Theories, and general Homestuck Knowledge, Light felt more adequate.
hey what powers do you think a seer of space could have besides spatial awareness and Seeing everywhere in space?
Aside from being really good at Physics, too, I’d imagine they would have general Spacey Majyyks, maybe some sort of Telekinesis? Also likely seeing through walls like X-Ray vision!
And so he did, Equius succumbed to Void, and not only did he fade from the narrative- His blood was used as a cover of impenetrable Void to obscure information.
I have *theories* about many friends of mine and their classpects but i'm completely sure of one of them! I believe she is a seer of space, mainly because she has uncanny space awareness!! The type where you can ask her where the north is and she just simply points at it with no hesitation or doubt (we have proved she's right 100% of the times) so yeah.
What kind of magyyks would a maid of void and rogue of rage have??
If you’re talking about general, Aspect-based powers, the Maid of Void may have Eldritch Magic sort of like Rose had pre-ascension, but the Rogue of Rage… Chucklevoodoos are always a good answer IF they are a Purpleblood, but otherwise… A Berserk Mode of sorts? Purpleish Lightning Shit? Hmm. It’s hard to tell.
What do you think au evil Calliope's arc would be? How will she screw up everybody?
I believe I’ve talked about this before haven’t I? Oh- Wait no, it was a Lord of Space vs Muse of Time thing I talked about.
If Calliope was evil, though, I could see a ‘for the greater good’ kind of attitude, rather than English’ Mindless Destruction, she would be a powerful source of Destruction in the setting because she knows the only way to End the Story is to destroy it completely, erase every single thing and free the characters that are Slaves to Paradox Space with a merciful Death.
what do you think about a thief of doom? I'm having trouble understanding this one.
Stealing Doom can have a few meanings! If you Steal Through Doom, you’re basically reaping what’s left after a disaster- Opportunists, scavengers, that kind of thing. But Stealing Doom can also be quite the Heroic thing. Bearing the burden of becoming more and more doomed yourself so nothing else is destroyed is an interesting concept, and it’s possible it could go to the point of dying in order to resurrect a partner.
Sorry for sending another ask! Forgot to put this in the last one. How exactly would a Prince of Doom work? Or well, more specifically the 'destroying through doom' part.
Destroying Through Doom, see the thing is that Doom is, by itself, already inherently destructive, so causing the Timeline to be Doomed, ending with everyone sort of dying, or spreading some damage or disease somewhere that ends with people dying would be destroying through Doom. You could take this a step further, if you consider Doom as Pain and Suffering, you could very well wear someone down and destroy them by inflicting constant pain of some sort, but never actually breaking them physically. Awful chronic migraines and body pain with no relief wouldn’t end up pretty for whoever the Prince’s fucking up.
Can I maybe get your opinion on the whole Passive/Active spectrum thing and where all the Classes fall on it? (also, if you wouldn't mind, what Heirs and Maids are "classified" as, like Bards and Princes are Destroyers, Sylphs and Witches are Changers, etc.)
would a thief of light be one to tend to reject their role and believe they are more "powerful" than they are, wanting to be a lord or have an aspect like hope?
I mean, honestly, not really? Because Classes and Aspects are arguably neutral and never more powerful than others. Lord could be an exception given, Master Class, but even then it’d depend on who the Player is and how they’re using their powers. So no, because ‘Hope’ isn’t directly stronger than ‘Light’.
Can you please tell me something about a Witch of Breath?
Changing Breath, first of all as the Active Counterpart of the Heir they’d have some big similarities! So they’d be able to summon whirlwinds and do the windy thing in general. I could see them more likely to take charge than John, however. Big visions for the world, big goals, and a centerpiece to how the story is shaped. Changing Freedom and Detachment may mean influencing other’s decisions, oppressing or liberating people, perhaps making someone more or less naive/innocent. Changing others’ goals to suit their own… There’s a lot to the Witch of Breath huh.
Maid of void and bard of light is probably the dream team for casually obliterating every secret ever and being the shadow puppets of the universe, appearing wherever the heck they shouldn’t be, kinda like those NPC merchants
Rather than obliterating secrets, they would be THE Secret Keepers, I think Secret Obliteration you’re thinking of the Bard of Void and the Maid of Light.
do you do theories about how you think a session would go with certain classpects? what about a Knight of Space, Sylph of Life, Rogue of Light, Page of Time, Witch of Rage, and Prince of Breath?
I don’t do questions like this. I’ve also turned down really specific Classpect Questions and more heavily Personality-based ones, because… Well. Classpects are Guidelines, but they’re not set in stone, they’re very flexible, so some of those questions make me a bit uncomfortable because I know they’re personal of whoever is sending them, or they’re way too broad like this one where, well. It could go any way ever.
I've heard that Heirs become their aspect, but I've also heard that Maids become their aspect. So like, what's the difference?
Heirs are Changed by their Aspect and are at risk of being consumed by it. Mituna was consumed by Doom and left incoherent to his friends, Equius was consumed by Void to the point his very Blood has been used to obscure information. John managed to control his powers, the Windy Thing, the Plot Retcon, his role as the Heroic Leader, his Detachment from the story, he could’ve been consumed by it as well, but he pushed through for his friends.
Maids, on the other hand, are ‘Made of’ their Aspect. They’re fairy-like- Meddlesome, can have big tempers, and as Fairies are Elemental-like, the pun of being ‘Made of’ their Aspect transcends linguistics and becomes an actual thing. Aradia started Dead- Straight away, the connection between Time and Decay are evident, and after Ascension, she’s in no hurry to do anything, she’s super chill and merely wants to see things End. She states several times she’s not running out of Time at all- In fact, she’s ‘Made of it’. She doesn’t ‘embody’ the Aspect like how Heirs can, but she definitely lives up to the title.
Jane is a waaay more confusing case than Aradia. She’s from a rich and influential family, her body self-regenerates when her Dreamself Dies, there’s hints here and there of how she’s kind of Made of her Aspect? But at the same time, she’s being oppressed from several angles at the same time. Jake forced her into a one-sided nagging about his relationship with Dirk, which really wore her down- As the Page, she was forced to Serve him. Similarly? She’s the Crockercorp Heiress. And Condy certainly acts like she’s her Heir, to the point of Stealing her Agency away entirely, and imposing a Role she’s not upon her. So her references to Maidenhood are less and more obscure, simply because she’s not exactly in the most healthy place for most of the story.
If anything, a Maid being like a Heir is an unhealthy situation they must break free from and learn to do what they want- Where a Heir may be changed, altered by their situation and slowly mold to fit it, Maids will be unhappy and tension will build up until they cannot take it anymore and break down.
Bard of Doom who keeps dying all the time and then, due to absolutely ourtaregous deus ex machinas, coming back to life. Every time danger is near Bard cites that damn "Guess I will die" meme and assumes that pose.
God dammit, I only have the Bard of Breath doing that pose, imagine he’s green and with the Doom Symbol.
So if a mage if light knows knowledge and true information wouldn’t that mean a mage of light knows ALL the information about almost everything as long as it’s available to them (since the unknown is for the void players) also a mage of ligh would know the probability of outcomes ?
Rose as a Seer of Light knows the ‘Alpha’ way of doing things, what’s Relevant and needs to be done. She also learns everything there is to learn about SBURB, so yes, a Mage’s powers could similarly allow them to know a good deal of just about everything relevant. Much like how Doc Scratch is nigh-omniscient but there’s still dark spots that elude him, and can simply speculate about certain non-relevant outcomes.
The probability of outcomes may be more tied to Mind.
Hi :) it’s the light/void anon, I gave it some thought and I think I’m comfortable with void, I realized the only reason I was hanging on to light was the luck and relevance part, the idea I could be in the spotlight, now I realize I don’t need to be the center of attention, and I’m ok with being in the background, and void and dark isn’t bad. I’m happy to say have switched from a witch of light, a wishful dream of manipulating relevance, to a maid of void, a title I feel comfortable with :)
Mhmm! :o This kind of introspection is always interesting.
The white house juju that claiborn found and then used it to trap(?) The beta kids in it. Then, dead vriska finds it. Live vriska uses it. But what is supposed to come out of the house? (it had a door that was about to be opened, both on the winner platform and in the dreaam bubble)
It’s hard to say what its actual function is/was, there’s a LOT of symbolism in Act 7 that can be taken in multiple ways. Many people think the trapped Kids come out of the House to beat LE up but I personally think it’s something else entirely. Maybe the Epilogue will give us some canon look at the events post Act-7.
I like to think they did come out of the house juju. It makes LE's defeat more satisfying and more personal to the kids since they got trapped by LE
It makes it more personal, but the thing is- Does it need to be Personal? Does it need to be a Big God Damn Deal? They’re Kids that had their teenage years stolen by a Universe-Building Game leading into a Conspiracy to Save All of Reality, dying several times along the way. They deserve some rest already without needing to face Buffskull McPegleg. That’s why I personally don’t think they pop out of the House.
Also because them popping out of the House means they pop out to kill English, only to sort of get stuck in a crumbling Paradox Space? Because I still don’t think Act 7′s Timeline is the Masterpiece Timeline.
Being served Mind sounds like they would be getting asked their opinion on things a lot! Being served Choices though, I don’t quite know if it would be being served an overwhelming amount of paths to follow, or being served specific Choices that limit their own agency. I feel people may try to make them learn a lot and get smarter and come up with strategies and stuff. Hmm. Fully realized, though, Serving Mind sounds like they may be able to broaden a Session’s horizons and not get stuck to a single choice, gain a lot of knowledge… For some reason I can’t help but imagine the Page of Mind as the Enlightened Chakra Blitzed Brain image from those memes.
Do you think Vriska survived getting sucked into the black hole and/ot Terezi could have found her?
It’s possible that Vriska survived the Black Hole, and honestly that’s my biggest fear for the Epilogue. I really want Vriska to die with English, it’d feel so good thematically.
What are the statistics on classpects? What classes has the most people? What aspects has the most people? Who the strongest power wise, and who's the weakest? Who has the quirkier set of powers? That stuff
Strongest and Weakest mean nothing for Classpects, because Classpects are only as Strong as the character that has those powers. Even a Lord would be useless with certain kinds of people. I would kind of love to see statistics on what Class and Aspects are the most common though. Maybe I’ll make a Strawpoll at some point.
What kind of powers does Mages and Seers have for combat. I know they're not for combat like a Knight or Prince or something like that. But both Rose and Terezi kick ass in [S] Collide. So they should have something, no?
First of all, foresight of ANY kind during a combat is overpowered. To know what your enemy is going to do, where they’re going to be, immediately allows for you to counter the attack before they can even start it. If a Seer is proficient at combat, they can absolutely wreck. Remember, if you Know, you can Change the outcome, just based on that new knowledge you gained. Adding on top of that, Aspect Majyyks are completely possible- See Rose’s Light Magic. She’s a Seer, but she can cast light beams and spells. So there’s not really anything truly ‘non-combat’ when it comes to Classes, same way there’s not Classes that are ‘only combat’.
Jake made a Dirk that knew about Sburb. When Jake went full power after Aranea used her powers, he became a full fledged Dirk. Terezi(Seer of Mind) saw Dirk, even though no one else could. Stick with me now. In Hivebent, on the meteor, Terezi told Tavros not to let anyone tell him Rufio wasn't real. Does that mean Pages have the ability to make mind projections? And to take it one step further. Since Mind is all about thoughts, could a Page of Mind make an army by just thinking hard enough?
The thing with Pages, is that they tend to make up something to sort of distract themselves, projections. Jake has Brain Ghost Dirk, Tavros has Rufio. Horuss either has Nothing because of him being a Page of Void, just his obliviousness, or the fact he’s Hoofbeastkin counts as his mental projection. Jake manages to make Brain Ghost Dirk more real because, tying to his aspect, Hope, he’s literally “believing in him so hard he becomes a little bit less fake”. Tavros doesn’t have this projection made reality, but he does have an /army/ by the end of the comic. So a Page of Mind? Yeah, they could likely make a god damn Army of Thoughtforms to serve them.
Terezi deserves better than Vriska. Terezi deserved (Vriska), but Vriska is an asshole who pretty much keeps Terezi around in a one-sided Moirailship, to praise her and butter her up while she sells her promises of being someone she’s never going to be.
So, between the new aspect test and your new class test, I'm all mixed up! Now I'm a Rogue of Mind and I have no idea what that means - if I steal thoughts for others, am I just a mind reader? Thanks for the help!
Let me just use this ask as the now Weekly Reminder to check my Tags before asking Classpect Questions in case I have already answered these!
If doc scratch had a god tier title what do you think it would be. I definitely think that it’s either a void or light classpect Maybe a mage of light
He technically does though- A Prince of Void and Heart and a Heir of Heart and Void, given he’s a very noticeable manifestation of the more ARquius-y side of the Souls trapped in Lord English. As a Prince of Void, he shreds the veil of obscurity of the Dark Spots that block his First Guardian Omniscience when he gets closer to the moment they happen, as well as offers some advice to Characters. As a Heir of Void, he makes Rose Change into Grimdark by making her look into the Cueball, and Changes the very Nature of the Furthest Ring by sending her and Dave to blow the Tumor in there, creating the Green Sun. As a Heir of Heart, his own nature changes entirely as his self is used as a host to give birth to Lord English. And as a Prince of Heart, well he’s kind of a big asshole that conditions Alternia to be more violent, so you could say he kind of destroyed the more positive feelings and emotions within the Troll Race.
Do you think if the Beta Trolls lived long enough, their skin would turn black like their Ancestors? Or black skin is only exclusive to Ancestors?
Black Skin is actually a stylistic choice to depict Adult Trolls. We can see this same stylistic choice being used on Trizza at the end of Act 1 of Hiveswap.
This is proved in canon by this panel, in which the Handmaid (Slightly Off-Screen) is shown to have Grey Skin, even though she’s depicted completely black in every other panel.
I always thought that trolls had reaaallyy high blood pressure concrentrated in their veins, giving them black lips and grey skin (like how food dyes are really dark??) And the ability to bleed excessively and stay alive (*cough* gamzee *cough*)
I mean, grey skin and black lips could just be the way their bodies are naturally colored by bullshit pigmentation stuff which I know nothing about so don’t take my word for it ssssh.
But having the ‘Highblood’ and ‘Lowblood’ difference be literally because Lowbloods have Low Blood Pressure and the Highbloods have High Blood Pressure is interesting. Specially considering Lowbloods are culled by the dozens and Highbloods are more important, it’d be like, a Lowblood gets a limb cut off and it kinda dribbles out little by little, but you cut a Highblood’s arm off and it’s this obscene gush of blood and everyone’s screaming.
Reading posts about Hope players just reminded me of something about a webcomic I read once. A guy gets dumped, so he watches a metric fuckton of anime to make himself feel better. He gets inspired by their intense training regimens and decides to do some of his own. He ends up actually being able to perform ki attacks himself and opening up a dojo to teach others to do the same. I think he'd be either a Knight or a Page of Hope.
I like how Hussie continued with the lore that all Capricorns (Gamzee, GHB, Kurloz, Barzum, Baizli and Chahut) wear face-paint
I mean, it’s a part of their Culture, the LE Cult Worship and such. I do wonder if Purples are forced to worship LE and do the whole juggalo shtick though, or if there ARE non-clown Purples out there.
if professional roller derby was a thing on alternia which blood color on the hemospectrum would be the ones playing it? iirc burgundy/rustbloods played baseball right? in hiveswap?
Likely, every Caste would be able to play, but the Higher Bloods would be the only ones allowed to use/able to afford bigger and more secure vehicles, with Rusts maybe not even going around with a vehicle at all.
Arena Stickball is played by all sorts of Castes, but the most dangerous positions are Rusts because they don’t care if they die. Also Arena Stickball isn’t ‘baseball’, but rather this frivolous combination of Baseball, American Football, Billiards and god damn Quidditch of all things. The Arena Stickball Cue Bats, too, sort of remind me of Cricket Bats, so maybe add that to the bizarre mix of sports.
There's something I still don't understand, even after having finished Homestuck. Where did the Black Queen go when Jack Noir sliced her finger off in [S] Jack: Ascend?!!??!! She like exploded?
It does look like she exploded, and it’s a very Unique thing of that scene. Whether it is because only the finger was cut off and it released some Ring Majyyk Energies, because Jack used the Royal DERINGER and that makes it special, because Hussie still wasn’t sure what happened when the Rings were yanked off, or if she didn’t explode and her kind of gruesomely dismembered body was laying off-screen but it was too bad to even show it on-screen, it’s just a thing that happened.
Since First Guardians are omniscient, didn't Bec know that prototyping itself with the kernel would cause Jack Noir to be near-indestructible?
It’s hard to tell if Bec, given he’s a Dog, also had Omniscience. Even if he knew it would lead to Bec Noir being created, however, it’s just like Vriska said. His existence is pretty much necessary for the Troll and Human Sessions to become intertwined and the Alpha to go as it needs to go.
something I noticed in jack ascend- the queen's finger is still moving when Jack goes to pick up the ring. what do you think that means? (I doubt it's faulty editing, because something moving has to be intentional)
I noticed that too, but to me it just sort of looked like it was twitching because it had been recently cut and so it was like. Nervous post-death spasms before it stops.
I have been wondering this for a while but in Homestuck I am pretty sure someone said skaia picks players class and/or aspects in order to challenge them or something along those lines. Which is why rose is a seer of light. So wouldn't the quiz you made be wrong since whatever class you get could be the complete opposite of what skaia would assign?
If the Class and Aspect Challenge the people with the Classpects, it’s only because they’re not mature enough or haven’t grown and are reluctant or held back from their True Classpect. Even while tearing apart SBURB and being all Grimdarky, the way Rose just seeks to find how SBURB works and information about the brightest object in the Furthest Ring is so Seer of Light it hurts. The Quests on the Lands MAY challenge the Players, but their Roles fit the most healthy way of being for them.
In the comic the question “ how does a seer see ?” Is asked by doc scratch to rose. But here’s my question, how does a mage know ?
While the Mages and Seers are both Know Classes and you could say they Know in different ways? Given the examples in Canon, it seems that Seers seek out information about what they need from a source- Their environment, the Gods, Skaia, the Consorts- While a Mage seems to be more naturally insightful about it- Sollux hearing the voices of the Dead, Meulin merely knowing which pairings would go better. So while Seers can have that gut feeling- Rose knowing the way to send the Meteor- And Mages can seek information, you could say they’re predisposed to have that little divide.
You said maids could summon golems, what golem do you think would fit each class???? I'm a maid of heart so I'm curious :+)
I gave my thoughts about this in the past, and sadly, we don’t know enough about Elementals of various kinds to tell exactly what each Aspect’s Maid Elemental could be! Hope’s being Angels, but other than that, who knows. A Space or Mind Golem may be more like an actual, traditional Golem however. Heart, though… I believe I’ve argued some splinter of the Player before, a copy of themselves, but I really am not sure. Making Abstractions into Physical elementals would depend heavily on the context and situation to call the shots straight away!
what would happen to a thief who learns their lesson and becomes unselfish and even generous after a lot of development? would their class change?
The fact Thieves are powerful Solo Classes and can have pretty bad tendencies doesn’t mean all of them are awful and can’t cooperate. Meenah and (Vriska) have great moments, a Player’s Class will never change because they’re at a better spot, the Class and Aspect reflects their TRUE NATURE and any deviation from that will likely not be healthy. A Thief being generous and sharing can happen, if they want to accomplish a goal and have their friends backing them up, they can share the spoils to reach a common goal.
Not to say, Class stuff is Guidelines and not Set in Stone.
Buffskull McPegleg is the best fucking thing I've heard in the whole time I've been in this fandom. Fuck Pantskat, fuck any kinds of ships, fuck canon. Buffskull McPegleg is the best Homestuck thing, period.
Hi! I'm an avid fan of the Homestuck information you make and I was wondering if I could utilize it for my Homestuck based DnD rulebook that I'm making? Not copying it word for word, but for inspiration, as all of it is very informative!
Oh, of course! All of the stuff I do here is either taken from canon or just headcanons and theories for the Fandom, you don’t even need to ask!
