January 2018

do you think certain life players could control plants and animals? a witch or heir particularly, since they deal with manipulation-type things, yeah?

Most definitely!

I bet a Knight of Light would be great with kids who are afraid of the dark, 'cause they're a knightlight!

I was about to make this one pun a little while ago actually. Seems you beat me to it though. Given they Serve Light, however, they REALLY would be the ones to provide light to someone afraid of the dark.

would an artistic Seer of Breath paint with all the colors of the wind?

They would certainly paint with all the Colors of the Sky. Whoever made that wretched, way too long post about that was definitely a Seer of Breath.

Breath players always have their head in the clouds

Airheaded is the wording I’d have used, but this is true.

"Paint with the colors of the wind" is a Pocahontas reference

I know, but it’s 3 AM and I wanted to reference that awful, awful post.

those last two asks might've been pun attempts

You’re talking to a slightly sleep deprived Seer of Doom, I’m gonna flub every single Pun Attempt up until I collapse on my keyboard.

Go to sleep

Okay.

3 AM?! In the US the latest time is 10PM! Where in the world are you?!

Europe.

A space player could pull off a tadis but they would need a time player to actually move it.

Well, if they wanted to move it through Time like the Tardis, yeah. Otherwise? They’d be like Clowns with a Clown Car.

It would be interesting to see all the Purple-bloods having a circus and going from one place to another for their show. Although I don't know what would Chahut's job be.

Chahut is, obviously, the Hatchet Thrower my dude. Also possibly the one that drags people misbehaving from the audience to the Murderchamber that’s most surely under the Purple Blood Circus.

What music/instrument would a Mind player listen/play

Well that would be their Choice, not mine to make!

Okay awful Aspect Puns aside, I’m going to go with the Clavichord just because.

Yeah.

I’m original.

NO. Harpsichord is reserved ONLY for Terezi!

I never knew the difference between a Harpsichord and a Clavichord so okay she can have one of them and the rest of Mind Players gets the other.

Or maybe we can go with Latula, and every Mind Player’s instruments is just a Soundboard of Game Grl audio.

Opinion of siamese twins who are a sylph and bard of Doom? (They have separate dreamselves but there's always the possibility they mess up and die the wrong way)

Nice but, if they die, do you have to carry their body, first to one Quest Bed and then to Another? Or do they die being Split so you just carry each part to their respective Quest Beds? Does smooching one wake up the two? There’s so many things to consider.

what aspect do you think best represents happiness and infinite possibilities?

Hope perhaps? Seems like it’d be the one regarding being cheery and believing you can do anything.

favorite non human, non cherub, non troll character?

Only the Bestest.

In [S] Make her pay, why didn't Vriska directly control Terezi? Because we clearly see Aranea controlling tons of Damara's which have probably been far, way far from her.

Terezi is immune to Vriska’s Mind Control.

Maid of Void gets "killed off" constantly when in reality they just prefer not to interfere till they absolutely must. So every time they get attacked. They just play dead. Until they get serious, that's it.

I love how everyone’s writing the Maid of Void off as just scooting away whenever they can to not get in trouble, but in reality, they may be one of the most active offensive forces in a Session, Erasure and Tearing Things Apart are part of the basic Maid of Void Power Set. I’ve always loved overpowered characters that don’t give a fuck about anything.

Now I want to sing "Gay or European"

Fitting musical number, given I, too, am both.

to be honest i like the explanation that murderous clowns are just inherently super immortal in Homestuck much more

As we’ve seen with Kanaya, Dirk and Alpha Dave, it’d seem all Murderous Clowns have a kryptonite, and that is being severed into two or more parts.

why do you think terezi was immune to vriska's mind control, but none of the trolls were immune to aranea's, not even higher bloods like gamzee?

Vriska was 13 at the time and Aranea had Aeons to practice her powers and get better at them. Also, Terezi is always a good Vriska Counter in pretty much everything, so when WhatPumpkin releases an Overwatch Clone, you know what to change to when you’re getting wrecked by the enemy Vriska.

Do you think Latula would also be immuned to Aranea's mind control? Or Redglare immuned to Mindfang's mind control?

Given Mindfang controlled the Lowblood Audience to her execution rather than Redglare herself, and was captured by her, it’s very likely Redglare was immune- Not sure if it’s canon though, I’d have to read through Mindfang’s Pirate Stories again. Aranea, however, can control Latula- Whether this is because she’s more powerful than Mindfang just because of her time spent in the Bubbles, or because Latula is more weak-minded because of her insecurities, it’s hard to tell.

Mage of Blood: "Hey, how did you manage to convince the Horrorterrors to make dreambubbles for us?" Maid of Void: *flashback to Maid of Void being accepted into the Noble Circle after the Great Battle Royale for circles of influence in the Furthest Ring* "...I asked them nicely. They could not refuse."

Snrrrrrk. That would be fun.

A Lord of Mind would be like Charles Xavier: ability to hear what others are thinking of and also have total control over their mind

Hearing people’s thoughts could be a pretty basic Mind Player ability, really, I’ve likened the Lord of Mind more to a Hivemind than Mental Manipulation in the past, but that could be it just as well.

Someone: "Hey, where you want to eat?" Page of Mind: "You choose" Someone: "Ok"

That sounds like a pretty adequate interaction. Page is Served a Choice, and then lets others Choose for him by showing indifference.

so could a Mage of Hope be the type of person who's parents forced them into religious stuff but they despise it and are curious about why people believe in gods and knows how to make people believe in things and the ins and outs of Hope?

Yeah, I don’t see why not! Although do remember Hope is Belief and Faith by itself, Religious stuff falls into it but it’s not ALL Religious stuff. Still, yeah that’d work for a Mage of Hope.

why are there no dead Kurloz's in the dreambubbles except for one? same with Gamzee and why can't Gamzee die?

Let me preface this by debunking both claims. There are NO Gamzees in the Bubbles at all, not even one, the one we saw was the Alive Gamzee. As for Kurloz, well.

image

There’s a bunch of him. However if you try to look for him anywhere other than the first Ghost Army and Ministrife, you won’t find him. Both Damara and Kurloz are missing from the final Army- Which makes sense because that Army wasn’t being mind-controlled, and both of them are followers of Lord English. If there IS Kurlozs or Damaras on the last Army though, eh I may have just missed it, there’s so many people.

Now, however, as to why there’s no Gamzees and why Gamzee can’t die, there’s a few different possibilities here. First of all, Gamzee cannot die because he’s a component of Lord English. As long as you’re following the Alpha Timeline, Gamzee will be alive, because ultimately, he’s a required component to end up in Lil Cal when the Masterpiece happens, so he’s got a pretty sturdy Plot Shield- Which he also abuses, fitting because of his ties to Rage, Narrative Contrivance.

But this is just the Alpha Timelines, we’ve seen at least ONE Timeline he actually died in! Game Over, and as we saw, the Game Over dead characters did become Ghosts. So… Why not Gamzee?

Well, you could argue that with his Soul stuffed into a Unique Juju like Lil Cal, he cannot pop up in the Bubbles- But we see a Ghost John, and John is stuffed in the Treasure, invalidating the Juju theory. Then you could argue maybe he’s not dead! But come on he was Bisected by Kanaya’s Chainsaw. You can talk about maybe him being the Last Man Standing in every Doomed Timeline, so he kind of fades and merges with the Alpha like Rose did in Davesprite’s Timeline- But this STILL doesn’t explain the Game Over Timeline Gamzee…

There’s really no canonical explanation that I can find other than ‘Clowns are Weird’, but even then Kurloz does have Dream Selves! So, I stick to a theory of mine, which has to do with the way Horroterrors Pick Souls.

While there’s other characters here and there, the Bubbles are visibly more packed with Trolls than they’re with Humans- This is arguably because there are more Troll Timelines because of Aradiabot’s Time Shenanigans, and similarly with the Dancestors, but even then the disparity is quite huge. And some Trolls, like Vriska, only get One Ghost- Her Alpha Self which then becomes (Vriska) before the Retcon brings her back. So there’s SOMETHING here we’re not quite seeing.

Enter Stubbornness and Choice.

My theory is, that when there’s a Timeline Split, characters don’t get simply stuffed in the Bubbles, there’s a selective process by which they’re chosen to actually inhabit the Bubbles. And only deviations from the Alpha Timeline pop up as ghosts. This makes sense, though, when you change the Alpha, you’re choosing differently from your Alpha Self, ergo, you’re a different person, so you count as a different Iteration of your ‘Self’, and you appear in the Bubbles.

Now look at Vriska. Terezi’s biggest regret is killing her- She saw no other choice, she either let her go, or she killed her. And you know why? Because Vriska is a stubborn motherfucker. It doesn’t matter what happens, what Terezi says, how much she tries, without John’s outside interference, she would ALWAYS go after Jack. In the infinite web of choices and realities and Timelines, Vriska is so determined about her convictions and ideals, so full of herself, that she would always do the same. As such there’s just two Iterations of Vriska- Her ‘Alpha’ dead self, needing to be there as it’s the End of the Road for Alpha Vriska, and the one iteration of her that is still alive and was made not by her own Choice, but by Terezi’s and John’s efforts to bring her back.

Gamzee is a similar case. He’s crazy, he’s weird, he’s a wildcard- But ultimately, his faith in Lord English is unbreakable, and he’s an unstable, murderous element. It doesn’t matter what happens to him in any Timeline, because Gamzee never changes, he doesn’t develop, his ideals, his choices, are always the exact same. And as such, only one Iteration of himself exists, his Alpha Self- Which ends up sucked into Lil Cal, thus erasing the one and only possible Ghost of him in the Bubbles.

Meenah, too, like Vriska, lacks a bigger presence in the Bubbles, and again we have someone unchangeable and determined- To the point where she begs John to take the Ring away, because she KNOWS she won’t change her ways and she WILL steal it if the opportunity arises. As such, every Iteration of the Characters in the Bubbles, represents, not one Timeline, but one Change to their Character. Development, whether positive or negative, different paths taken. The less Ghosts you have, the less Deviation to your Character, the less Change to your self. The more Ghosts you have, the more Iterations, the more Volatile your Self is. As such, the Dancestors, visibly the most abundant characters in the Bubbles? Makes sense, they’re volatile teenagers trapped for several years in a Glitched Session.

This is all Speculation though, but it’s my thoughts on it. It could simply be ‘Because Clowns’. For all we know there ARE Gamzee Ghosts but we never saw them.

could a lord of mind use telekinesis?

Directly using Mind Psychic Powers to do stuff? Yeah I don’t see why not.

Page of Mind: Best Auspistice

Wrong. We know the best Auspitice is the Sylph of Space, obviously.

Kanaya jokes aside, though, it really works well for Auspticism, Making Space between two other Trolls.

Knight of Hope serving others hope but having none himself, might even fake their own hope just to give Hope to others or make others believe there is Hope. Also how do knights deal with their problems?

Knights bottle up stuff badly and keep things to themselves. Given they try to appear reliable to others and can go quite far to protect those they care about, not having Hope but faking they have to give others some Hope would definitely be a Knight of Hope thing.

Wouldnt a muse of time inspire and be time? Or did I research wrong?

What exactly are you comparing it to? I can’t recall if I talked about the Muse of Time or if you’re talking about the Muse description specifically or what.

Muse description

Well, there’s not really such a thing as ‘incorrect research’ when it comes to something as ambiguous as the Classpects, we simply have slightly different takes? Very slightly, too, since ‘Inspire and Be’ are things that are possible through Command.

I'd like to think that Knights/Pages start out acting like the opposite of their active/passive role. As they grow up, learn, and get comfy, they start acting as the role they were supposed to. This "starting as the opposite and ending how you should" has caused a lot of confusion in the fandom

Yeah, but rather than acting their opposite Active/Passive role, it’s more that Pages are Served while Knights Serve, so it leaves Knights seeming to take upon a more Active role while Pages are relegated to Passivity. However with the more ‘Selfish vs Selfless’ view on Active/Passive Classes, the Page/Knight alignment becomes more clear.

What can u tell me abt drugs in alternia

Sopor Slime acts as a soporific as seen with Gamzee, and while it’s implied there’s some joke about Kurloz and Meulin smoking Catnip, Damara’s seen actually smoking a blunt, so. I’d imagine “Earth Drugs, but with more Bugs.”

Classpects for SBaHJ characters?

Hmm. Perhaps Sweet Bro as a Bard of Light, with Hella Jeff as the Knight of Rage? And Geromy as the Maid of Void.

What character arc could a mage of light have ?

image

—____— ( deepest sigh ) we’ll okay than what would a mage of light be like/ what would they do in a session ( in general )

I really mean it though. Beyond the general personality traits of a Mage and a Light Player, and the broad Power Sets (Specifically for the Mage, I’ve already talked about that in the past), I can really not go in depth about what they’d do in a Session or how they’d be like… Because. They could be virtually anything. Classpects offer very broad little bits and pieces of what a Class and Aspect Player may be like, but every Player is their own individual and deeply personal story, which is why I’m not too comfortable going in depth about personality stuff. If you notice whenever someone asks me if a Classpect would be able to do something or would be like something, most of the time I tend to agree and find ways to shift the Classpect meaning to fit it because. Well. The system is flexible like that. If I told you a very specific way the Mage of Light would be that doesn’t match your still completely valid idea of a Mage of Light, what would that accomplish?

Oh no , I’m so sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable

When I say ‘uncomfortable’, please think of it as a mild ‘meh’, don’t worry about it!

Who would be more destructive between a Lord of Rage, a Bard of Rage, a Maid of Rage and a Heir of Rage?

I have to say the Bard. As intense as a Lord of Rage may be, their power set revolves around Command, and sure you can Destroy through your Command of the Aspect- But the Bard of Rage’s powers are explicitly and specifically Destruction-oriented. As much damage as a Lord of Rage may cause, a Bard’s powers are always in some way destroying- Rage or through Rage, but Destroying nontheless.

So you think a troll outside of the purple bloods to be part of the mirthful cult?

I don’t see why not, maybe they wouldn’t allow them to wear Facepaint and such but I don’t think they’d complain if some other Troll began to worship what they do and believe what they believe in. Hell, it’s partially mind control but, isn’t Meulin technically part of the Mirthful Cult?

Have you ever covered anything on lords of space?

I’ve talked a LITTLE bit about the Lord of Space. Our Muse of Space is a good example of some Space-related Command, but there’s not much canonically in general. The full Command over the Setting itself and all Matter and Properties of Matter sounds like an intense ability.

1/2

is it possible for one on one fights between a god tier and a Master class and the normal god tier wins? Ex, could a Prince of Rage potentially win against a Lord of Rage by destroying the Rage they command?

A Lord’s Biggest Downfall is their own Hubris. It doesn’t matter how intense their power over Reality may be or how things favor them, sometimes you don’t need to be specially unlucky to be smacked around by a newspaper after all. He didn’t use any Time Powers in that fight either, but Caliborn was given a pretty astonishing beatdown by John during Game Over! So yeah, a normal God Tier should be able to take down a Lord, nevertheless it wouldn’t be an easy fight, specially if the Lord if prepared.

Whats the most uncommon classpect combination you've personally seen explained/talked about?

I’m actually not sure, around here questions fly from every direction and kind of equally, maybe… The least talked Aspect would be Blood or Doom and the Master Classes are a bit fuzzy, but not even by that much.

Would a Mage of Blood be overly affected by the people in their life, i.e changing their personality based on who they want to appeal to and having extreme abandonment issues?

Abandonment Issues could be, but changing their self depending on who they want to appeal may be better suited for a Mind Player.

could you maybe go into a bit more detail about the Destroy classes? specifically about how they fit into a team and have a positive impact on a session, as Eridan and Gamzee ended up causing so much strife through the entire story. Dirk seems like the only good example, organizing the session and making sure everyone got into the Medium, but that seems more just... Dirk than Prince stuff?

Actually, Dirk wasn’t specially good either at that time, he was being a tad pushy and AR was controlling things in the background and it was all a big mess of trust and doubt for everyone involved. Taking matters into their own hands is something Prince-y though. The issue with Gamzee and Eridan are that… Their Ideals didn’t exactly align with the rest of the group. Specially Gamzee, he’s actually a pretty good Bard, it’s just that he’s helping Lord English, not his friends.

Straight out the bat, Destroying Positively means they’re specially good at getting rid of negative things. They may Destroy their Foes and make the Session easier, or you could argue, ‘Destroy Doubt’ or ‘Destroy Hopelessness’ or something like that depending on their Aspect, definitely bringing something positive forth. For example, a Prince of Doom may be able to Destroy Pain and ensure they’re not Doomed, or a Prince of Rage or Hope could work to overthrow a tyranny and follow what’s righteous. Destroying and Reducing seem inherently negative, but you just gotta give it a little spin.

What void classes could you argue would be able to create objects like a Rogue of Void could? I'd say thief obviously, but I've seen arguments for Prince (destroying Nothing) and Witch (manipulating Nothing)

If you’re going for Void alone, yeah you could argue that entire part of the Class Spectrum maybe able to pull something out of nothing. But if you’re going for more Aspects, add Pages, Knights, Maids and Sylphs to the list. And I wouldn’t be surprised if even Seers and Mages can pull a trick like that from their sleeves. Creation seems like an easy enough power to go for- Fitting given you’re literally a God when you Ascend.

In the end though, even if you cannot Create stuff with your powers, you always have the Alchemiter you know.

Prince's of Doom never die in a fight because ya know

They’d be some tough to kill mofos for sure.

Speaking of Creation via Alchemiter... do you think there's anything besides the Sburb (and by extension, Sgrub) discs that can't be made because it doesn't have a captcha code? The initial thing that sparked this question: is the Matriorb one of those things? Ghost images of things exist; was the only way to get it using Roxy's void powers?

You can actually make anything INCLUDING the SBURB Discs, you just need an Intellibeam Laserstation to read the code. Not only do we know the Matriorb has a Code, we know it can be mad through Alchemy, because it’s one of the component routes to create a Hat.

image

However, this route also informs us- Knowing a Potted Plan and a Charles Dutton Book aren’t exactly expensive items, that the Matriorb costs an obscene amount of Grist. This is no ordinary Grist, either…

image
image

Two incredibly powerful, almost surely Nuclear-Powered weapons shown in the comic use One single unit of this Grist. A recipe using the Matriorb requires 100 Trillion Units of this Grist. Mind you, this is not like Build Grist either, I don’t think we’ve seen Rainbow Diamond Grist drop from any enemy, but Rainbow Droplet Grist did drop from a Lich Queen- A High-level Underling sent to stop John from activating the Scratch. If this Grist drops only from special Underlings, and in little amounts, it’s possible that its supply is even limited within a Session, to whatever number of Special Underlings there are, assuming it couldn’t be farmed out of LOHACSE.

Creating it? Is Possible, but having a Rogue of Void makes things so much easier than having to Farm Forever, it’s not a matter of impossibility, rather, it’s the futility of spending so long trying to grind enough Grist.

And this is a recipe USING the Matriorb- It’s possible the Matriorb’s Actual Grist Cost could be higher than that, since I would say a Hat is a very big downgrade from The Egg To Make A Mother Grub Hatch.

what you said about master classes still being able to be defeated by regular classes made me think of those videos where a smaller dog scares a big dog

Basically, except those dogs tend to be more Bark than Bite, and God Tiers will Mess You Up if they want to!

Knight of Mind is not good offensively apparently? i'm offended but idk what to think heilp

I’ve talked about them before, but, I’m pretty sure with the ways Knights can Weaponize stuff, there’s no Knight that could be considered ‘not good offensively’. I don’t think any Classpect could be said to be ‘bad offensively’ actually, there’s just people who are more suited to supporting roles.
