Firstly, I love this blog, keep up the good work! Second, I'm tying to understand the Void aspect better for an oc I'm making (she's either a Heir or Witch of Void), but I'm running into a roadblock. I know that nothingness, obscurity and secrecy are part of that, but i dont quite understand some of what was shown in Homestuck, like what exactly Equius' whole caste stuff had to do with his Aspect?

Thank you very much! Nothingness, Obscurity, Secrecy, Eldritch stuff, are all Voidy things yes, but what Equius’ Aristocratic Caste and the names of the ‘Signs of X’ given to the Voidy Signs tells us, is a mild relation with… Philosophy? And Metaphysics. Questions about the Material World that don’t have a definite answer, things that make you think about the nature of the Universe, but without a concrete answer. This ties in well to both the Void’s nature of ‘not knowing everything’, as well as the relation between Void and the Material World.

That’s another little divergence that’s not as obvious as it may seem at first- With Light representing the Gnostic World of Ideas, Void is tied to the World of Darkness, the Material Reality we inhabit. Given Blues are the ones that uphold aristocratic rules the most, and the whole Caste System and societal rules of Alternia are influenced by Lord English, a Yaldabaoth, it makes sense that Blues would be Void- A Caste concerned with upholding the Material Reality they live in without questioning, asking answer-less questions…

so based off of your description about Maids does that mean that they are like, oppressed by their aspect? Like for example a Maid of Doom would be oppressed by doom and have a feeling of existential dread but have to learn to balance out their Doom and not discard it completely

It depends and it’s extremely personal. For example, Aradia has run out of Time. By the time she appears in the story, she’s already Dead, and once she Ascends and becomes happier, she starts spending her Time on herself. Similarly, Jane is basically being raised to be Condy’s Heiress, the fact she’s the Heiress to a Supercompany and that Condy is an Asshole leave her facing daily Death Threats and Assassination Attempts, and her life is further stolen by Condy when she actually gets Mind-Controlled. Even before that, the whole interaction with Jake removes her Agency to do what she wanted- Tell him she fancied him, and ended up shoving her in an unhealthy spot regarding his relationship with Dirk. Porrim, similarly, struggled with the role she was assigned, of Motherhood, Space-bound to being a Caretaker to the Mother Grub. So she ran away and became a badass feminist fighting for the rights of Beforan and Alternian Women. This is when she tells us that, while she found Oppression in her Caste and her Aspect, that doesn’t mean rejecting it outright was the best course of action, either. There’s a balance, and once Free from that which oppresses you, you can voluntarily do it, for yourself, because you want to, not because someone else tells you to. This arc is mirrored by all three Maids and I think it’s a pretty important Life Lesson for those who struggle similarly to the Maids.

Going by the Maid talk from earlier, wha too you feel could be a route for a Maid of Heart? The way I have it, they're one to have a sort of identity crisis, not knowing where their true passions lie and relying on others for them.

That could be very possible yeah! An identity crisis sounds like a Heart-y struggle, or having others impose the way they think the Maid should be on them.

Does the frog part of a space-players land have to be at the end of the title? I've been trying to think of what my land would be, and I have decided on "Land of Petrichor and Frogs" but I think "Land of Frogs and Petrichor" sounds so much better, is there any rule regarding where in the sentence the frog is?? I have no idea, I mean we only know two Lands of X and Frogs so, I guess there’s nothing forcing it to be the second word of the Land? I don’t see anything wrong with Frogs being the first word.

I mean I don’t see why not! They could be a reliable source of info since they’re always Taking Information, so the enemy could try and eavesdrop, but they know they’re being spied so they say something false and trick the enemy.

You know, I forgot about Callie and Caliborn’s Handles, I’ve not actually looked too much into that or Calliope’s ‘Uranian’ part.

Oh my god. Curiously enough though, it was a problem with the Lighting- And ‘Gold’ and ‘Blue’ certainly fits the Light and Void Aspect schemes.

You really can’t, Hussie’s own description about the Prospit/Derse duality takes into account every possible case from ‘tendencies you need to overcome’ to ‘what’s more fitting’, it’s pretty dubious. If you feel more Derse, go Derse really.

I have a friend who had this exact same thing happen with the Heart Aspect. Glad to see the Quiz, even if it seems like it’s not fitting at first, has made people open up to new ideas!

So muses conduct right? That could be taken two ways, the first being command or control. The second is like how wires conduct electricity. Like a muse of time (my aspect) being able to conduct time, time flowing through their veins or being able to transmit time from one person to another. Yes, in more than one way too. This second meaning ties in to something that’s related directly to the Muse’s namesake- Inspiring. Like how Roxy was able to create the Matriorb because Callie was pretty much a Beacon of Space next to her.

while the topic is at hand, i personally am having a lot trouble figuring out my aspect. i'm pretty sure i'm a bard, although seer fits me too, and knight has been my personal choice although it doesn't really fit me personality-wise. for aspect, i have no clue. the official test has given me 6 different aspects, and i'm stuck between void, light, heart and life.

We saw a full session through rather roundabout means. A typical game of SBURB though? You’re supposed to die. No, seriously, the typical game of SBURB is Doomed. Successful Sessions are rare. Now, Successful Sessions, though? They’d have to be like the Troll Session, but without Doc Scratch fucking up the Final Frog and Karkat deciding to rush things. So, Troll Session without Frog Cancer.

They rushed the Genesis Frog because they couldn’t find the Final Frog- Final Frog which Jade remembered having seen back on Earth for a moment when she was little. Jade mentions that after that event, she woke up on Prospit and her Grandpa had to build her robot, to which Kanaya replies she woke up after Doc Scratch appeared. It took me a LONG time to piece these things together, but Doc Scratch only influences the Trolls when he wants to make them do something that’d benefit him and Lord English. His visit was a sabotage- Kanaya woke up in an unnatural way, instead of waking up when she found the first Frog. The Red Universe was bound to be cancerous, because Doc Scratch never allowed Kanaya see the last Frog they needed to complete the genetic sequence.

Why is the Green Sun green? If Universes A and B are red and blue then green is the complementary color there, but that raises the question of why they're red and blue. I could maybe see some association with Calliope's blood color, but she had no role in its creation. Is there even a reason for it at all? I know you've mentioned a red vs green theme before; is that somehow involved?

Honestly? I think it’s just color Palettes. It would be the same as asking why Rose’s Land is focused around the CYMK palette. Colors hold a lot of Symbolism in Homestuck, but sometimes Colors are just like that to be thematic, I feel. First Guardian Spacey Powers are Green, so their Source of Power has to be Green. RGB palettes are thematic, Red-Blue is a good duality, so the Universes are Red and Blue, and their detonation makes the complementary Green, which ties to the First Guardians. It’s thematic, but a lot of it also feels like Retroactive Foreshadowing, you know?

I have a theory on why the sun is green! in real life astronomy, a point in space looks green when when a red colored star and a blue colored star orbit each other, and since the green sun was made from a red and blue universe, the same physics may still apply!

Does Sburb have a goal or are the kids just thrown into a war between Prospit and Derse? The wiki says the black pieces and king need to win but that doesn't make much sense?

The Black Army is fated to win, which is the moment the Reckoning Starts. You need to take the Black King down to stop the Reckoning, complete your Denizen’s Choice/Kill them to release the Grist Hoard to perform the Ultimate Alchemy, perform the Frog Breeding to create the Genesis Tadpole, and defeat the Black Queen and get the Ring to shoot the Tadpole into the Battlefield and create a new Universe.

I'm circling back to consort talk and it maybe being creatures from eggs. Initially I thought Sollux and Eridans would ruin that idea, but then it occurred- Brain Consorts hatch from Skulls

I mean, Brains and Angels aren’t Consorts. They’re other NPCs, just like how Jade’s Land has Hummingbirds and John’s has Fireflies.

I definitely had the same experience of realizing I’m not the aspect I thought I was. I thought I was a life player for years, but the extended zodiac put me as void which was one I had never even thought about. Lo and behold, all the descriptions of Void players I’ve read have personally called me out

Okay, so I've had a thought. You know the new "transformation" in DBS (dragon ball super) Ultra Instinct? (The style of fighting/dodging/moving without thinking) I was thinking if a thief/rogue of breath stole enough Breath (movement, direction, apathy) they could unlock a similar transformation? Maybe just Breath OR Heart players in general could? Since Heart deals with emotion/instinct? I know maybe a few other classpects/god tiers could possibly achieve it but....?

Heart or Mind would be more like that, and I’d assume a Page would be a suitable Class for something like that.

If you want to cheat the system, a Time Players could do something similar merely by sort of having an extremely acute perception of time and being able to effortlessly avoid everything.

Aspect wise I’m pretty sure I’m void, yet both times that I have taken the extended zodiac test, I got doom and light. At this point the only thing I’m sure about is that I’m a derse dreamer.

I’d say first know if you’re Active or Passive, to drop either the Mage or both Seer and Knight.

It’s dubious. Arguably, her actual Witch of Space powers are what she displays being able to do during the 3 Years, since the Yellow Yard is isolated from the Green Sun’s Influence.

Then again with Bec’s powers being very Space-based, could you truly say there’s a clear divide between the two?

I have this OC idea, a mage of time. Through some Plot Stuff they end up at the start of THEIR universe and experience all of time. Sleeper cell sorta thing where they pretend to be themself pre session to get everyone else in and then reveal their presence. A doomed loop

Not necessarily. The main trait regarding the Active-Passive duality in my opinion is Selfishness vs Selflessness. But you can also consider it as Action vs Reaction, Offensive vs Defensive, Exploiting vs Allowing… It’s very much like the Yin-Yang, it’s not just a single set of things, it’s like, everything and it’s complementary.
