Barzum filling a quadrant with Baizli and vice versa counts as incest?

Technically? Although Trolls have no concept for incest, socially.

Can a Rustblood and a Fuchsiablood establish a moirallegiance/matespritship?

Of course! Whoever they want as long as it’s requited- But a kinder fuchsia like Feferi would be required, and Fuchsias overall are pretty rare it seems so… There’d be very, very few Burgundy-Fuchsia relationships.

was it ever explained why pumpkins are void? (other than of course "what pumpkin?")

Literally just for the What Pumpkin joke, there’s no reason why Pumpkin Symbology should be Void-related. Just like how a lot of Hope comes from the “If you believe in X, it becomes just a little bit less fake” joke.

Is liking/withstanding sunlight a Kanaya/rainbow drinker thing or a general jadeblood thing?

Rainbow Drinker stuff is Jadeblood stuff, so it’s likely just caste-related.

So we even know how troll twins work? I can’t think of what would classify them as twins.

They could’ve been born from the same Egg. They are also stated to have the same Lusus, so.

One of my friends passed the class test, being sure that she would be a sylph. But she ended up with muse and she isn't convinced about the description so I showed her the description of the sylph and she said the test was wrong because it says that sylph CREATES but she said that sylph HEALS showing the exemple of Aranea healing Terezi's eyes. What do you think

Yeah, the Sylph Heals, it’s part of the Creation Class role. Both Maids and Sylphs have Healing abilities, however they’re not reduced to just that. Healing, Creation, Improvement, it falls upon their power sets. One doesn’t overwrite the other.

I feel like genesis frog is to limiting. Can't we have something like genesis amphibian? I just want to create a new universe that is an axolotl.

Frog imagery is important. Derse and Prospit seem to have a culture all around the Genesis Frog.

could somebody asexual be a part of a moiraillegience with another person? :O sry if this ask is a little complicated to understand or is badly phrased, just curious

Yeah of course. Moiraillegiance is a Non-Concupiscent Quadrant- Matespritship and Kismesissitude do seem to imply a degree of sexual attraction, but the Pale Quadrant is Platonic Romance.

WAIT IM STILL CONFUSED IS THERE LITERALLY GOING TO BE AN EPILOGUE CAN I GET SOME LINKS TO CONFIRMATION HOPY SHIT IM CONFUSED

Yeah? I’m assuming you joined post-ending. Hussie has the bad habit of deleting old News Posts to favor new ones and not have a super-long News Post every time. Back when Act 7 came out, he already mentioned there would be an Epilogue. Then when the Credits and the Snap8s were released, he mentioned…

image

“Other Projects”, now we know, include the Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff book, and the Post-Canon Content was the Snapd8s, obviously telling us outright that’s NOT the Epilogue. Then, further down the line with the release of Hiveswap…

Viz will also be involved in the release of the mysterious epilogue project I alluded to a while ago. Details on format, release date, etc, will remain undisclosed until further notice, but you can expect more information about that to surface next year too. I wanted to do something a little unusual for it, something existing outside the confines of the web story. Working with Viz struck me as good opportunity for this.

Which is why I am waiting for more info on the Epilogue on 4/13. Honestly, Hiveswap Act 2 and Epilogue News on 4/13 would be an amazing combo.

So, Hope is all about belief, right? And Princes are able to destroy through their aspect as well as just destroying their aspect. So, would a Prince of Hope have the power to make people hallucinate and cause destruction in that way?

Belief doesn’t equate thought, though. Hallucinations are more an Alteration of the Mind, which would tie it more to a Witch or Heir of Mind than a Prince of Hope. Also Hope is more nuanced than just all about belief, but it’s a good starting point.

so what's the general consensus on Thieves? because some say they steal from others because they're selfish, others say they steal cuz they lack their aspect, some say they steal for so on and so forth and all these different interpretations makes it difficult to decide whether I am actually a Thief or not. help

Thieves Steal. Thieves are also inherently Selfish, as an Active Class. Thieves seem to tend to lack their Aspect at the beginning, although whether that’s necessary or not it’s up to anyone’s guess.

That’s it though. Any other specific nuance is up to each specific Thief. They are outlaws, tend to be solo players, they Steal, and they’re mainly self-driven.

Hey I'm trying to get involved but there's so many projects going on. I read all of homestuck and I'm watching a play through of hiveswap. But there's something called paradox space? And I never finished sbahj and it's getting a book? And there's homestuck books?? And I'm probably missing something and don't even know what it is

Yep yep- Although the books are just the comic in physical format, really! With author commentary. So the only new thing on them is Hussie’s commentary.

I like how it’s implied that Eridan’s Wand of White Science wasn’t special, or even a true wand. It was his hope, his belief that it gave hime power which aloud him to channel his Prince of Hope powers so effectively. Kinda counterintuitive, but it really shows how powerful hope is if that power was all Eridan.

This is the same with Rose though- Both use their wands to channel powers, but are then shown to be able to cast spells without the device. It ties in to the theme of Aspect Powers and Powers in general being an inherent, indivisible, natural part of characters in Paradox Space. With Hope specially, this should be prevalent, as we all know, the main source of Magic is believing it is real, so the Prince determined to use Magic Science to kill someone in a fit of desperate rage, would certainly get a boost.

Could Hourses be a good consort or something for a time player? I'm asking because I REALLY want to do the wordplay

As much as I love the pun, all points out to Consorts all being Herptiles.

What happened to pre retcon dirk?

He gave up. In Paradox Space, the loss of all will and drive to influence reality, the giving up of everything in the face of utter and complete defeat, may as well count as a Death.

Can two trolls possess the same Strife Specibus? Because I saw fanarts of Lanque having Makeupkind

Why wouldn’t two Trolls be able to use the same Strife Specibus?

I find Jake English to be a strange anomaly in the story. How is it that he is able to ascend with, what can be assumed to be, his regular body considering that his dreamself was killed before entry? Also why is it that he's so closely linked to the cherubs, in terms of their similar vernacular, being destined to beat Caliborn, and the fact that full grown cherub wings look very close to the hope aspect symbol?

Jake ascended on the Quest Crypt, it’s the only place you can ascend with no spare lives it seems, but he’s still an anomaly in that he shows us it doesn’t need to be your Dreamself dying on the Crypt, a normal body works just fine too.

It’s not just Jake though, Dirk is closely tied to the Cherubs as well, and to a certain extent, also Karkat! And it’s all because of the Cherubs’ ties to Abraxas and Yaldabaoth. Hope and Light are both concepts tied to Abraxas, to the World of Ideas, so with English being the Yaldabaoth of Homestuck, it’d only make sense the Hope Players had a prophecy about taking him down, one which is technically fulfilled during the Masterpiece! The wings may be stylistic, they are just wings after all, but they could hold some meaning.

Dirk, and more specifically AR, is tied to the concept of the Yaldabaoth as well, and would you look at that, eventually AR becomes part of Lord English himself. Karkat is implied to have had Abraxas as his Denizen, and he’s tied to Cherubs as well- His grey text is the exact middle point between UU and uu’s, his blood is Candy Red, but a mutation of Lime, providing the green-red duality… There’s. So much to talk about with these three, their ties to Gnosticism, and the Cherubs’ ties to these concepts. @revolutionaryduelist has done some amazing essays on the topic.

why were the alpha kids' imps skeletons?

Void Session. No prototypings, void, dead theme…

I'm struggling up with myself about knowing if I am a Maid a Rogue or a Muse because the descriptions for them likely describe me but I can't tie about what suits me the most .Do you think you could help me

Sadly I don’t tend to do these because, I really don’t think I could give a better assessment about yourself than you could? If you can’t decide between Classes, check what character are what Classes and who you relate to the most, really.

Okay so I know dirk and caliborn both have the strongest denizen, the one who shows up for players who are natural warriors and really strong. But I didn't realize Jake's denizen, abraxas, was implied to be the really weak one karkat had? For some reason, I thought jake was supposed to be a really good fighter, and was just letting Vriska bully him. Is Jake actually weak? How is abraxas tied to the cherubs if calliope had echidna? I'm also confused about jake lol. What is he

Jake is strong, and so is Karkat. See, here’s where the lore with the Denizens starts to get deep- Yaldabaoth is the ‘strongest Denizen’, for ‘natural-born warriors’, but both his Name and his Title suggest otherwise. He’s the self-proclaimed God of All Monsters, and taking into account the Gnostic roots of the name Yaldabaoth, he is a False God. A cruel, false creator, who creates a flawed reality with suffering and death. Abraxas, on the other hand, is the True God. Yaldabaoth holding dominion over the Material World, the World of Darkness, but Abraxas being the God of the World of Ideas, of Light.

It’s NOT explicitly stated that Karkat had Abraxas, however if he suspects he had the ‘weakest Denizen’, it would make sense for his Denizen to be the opposite of Yaldabaoth, and that can only be Abraxas. This simple statement actually has some interesting ramifications, specially because we know, Abraxas, the True God, wouldn’t merely be ‘the easiest boss’. There’s definitely something more to the arbitrary selection of Yaldabaoth and Abraxas, and it likely has to do with their Choices, and the Roles of those who are assigned these Denizens. The prophecy of taking LE down befell Jake’s shoulders, Karkat was allowed to lead his people in the new World, and while both of them have shown themselves to be very capable in combat, they are also… Emotional boys who love their friends and struggle with a lot of bullshit. So there’s more to them than we’re told directly by the characters.

Now, Calliope may have had Echidna because she’s a Hero of Space, but the mere fact Caliborn is the Yaldabaoth of Homestuck immediately ties Calliope, her opposite, to the World of Ideas. Where Caliborn is a cruel, manipulative asshole, Calliope learns love, compassion, creativity… He abhors his sister’s creations, and even when he himself learns to draw, he uses it to make a flawed, awful version of the events of the story, while Calliope draws romantic fanfiction and stories where everyone is happy and not fighting. And just like that, Calliope herself is cast into the darkness of the Furthest Ring, barely in contact with those she cares about, while Caliborn has full, 24/7 surveillance of the characters of the story, and is insidiously present and manipulating every last bit of the story.

It’s Alt Calliope, at the end, that tears down this awful reality to Collapse upon Lord English, while Callie lives on in the new World. Lord English is trapped in the reality of his own design, his own Time Loop. Fixated on creating a world of destruction, on causing as much death and suffering as he can, while the protagonists escape into a Universe which holds the very symbol of Light within it, just like the Sun at the beginning of Homestuck. Caliborn embraces the ideals of a Yaldabaoth, and becomes the single most oppressive force in Paradox Space. On the other hand, Calliope embraces creativity, ideals, and it’s a version of herself that puts an end to the Yaldabaoth’s World of Darkness. However, I don’t think this quite ties her to Abraxas- I am not, by any means, an expert when it comes to Gnosticism, but if anything she seems more akin to Sophia, or even Christos, providing a means of escape from Yaldabaoth and to the World of Ideas.

In either case? By design of their duality, the Cherubs are both related to Yaldabaoth and Abraxas, even if Calliope had Echidna herself, and the fact that Jake had Abraxas is no coincidence. There’s… Really so much symbology with their entire Arc, but I would need to dig really far through conversations and panels to get everything, so yeah.

So since I relate myself to Calliope maybe that means I'm a muse I guess . Anyway thank you for the answer.I hope it will be revelant when I will play Sburb one day ! (I like dreaming)

Good luck in your Session! :p

I don't know if you already answer that but if Sburb wasn't supposed to be played by species like cherubs then why did Skaia create a session and dream bodies for Calliope and Caliborn ?

Because they were going to play a Session? “Not meant to” means like, they don’t have a centralized planet with intelligent life where you can fling a frog temple to and kickstart the game, but they had the code to play the game because they lived in the Veil Laboratory Meteor crashed in Post-Apocalyptic Earth-C, and with Gamzee messing around, so like. They had computers and they had the disc, so obviously they were going to play, and the Session retroactively existed because they were always going to play it, even if their species as a whole aren’t really ‘players’ of the game usually.

Which, now that I think about it, yeah, means that a Carapace Session would totally be possible.

plus to my knowledge calliope and caliborn were not born through ectobiolgy. So thats apart of the not meant to play.

I mean, yeah, but also by that same logic, everyone on Earth who played the Beta when it came out were also not meant to play it. Rather, they were just ‘extras’ without the need to fulfil a Time Loop to ensure their own existence.

I know you mentioned revolutionary duelist. Are they where I should go to get info on all the myth and Gnostic and symbolism stuff??? I didn't even know what Gnosticism was. And I didn't know hussie was doing all this symbolism stuff that's incredible

I can answer questions about Gnosticism and Symbolism on a broad sense, but yeah, revolutionaryDuelist/optimisticDuelist has been doing essays and deep research about it and it’s just amazing the stuff he’s managed to draw! A lot of the stuff I answer is heavily influenced by his work, so if you want to go more in-depth, definitely check him out.

couldn't a void player technically kind of... do the opposite of their class? or specifically NOT do that? they might 'create nothing' or 'destroy nothing' or 'steal nothing' or 'change nothing' right? then they could essentially have a role that revolves around AVOIDING the specific behaviour their class would normally be associated with?

In some cases? But not always. For example, Horuss had Nothing served to him, so unlike most Pages, he didn’t have help backing him and he had to build himself up from nothing. Even then though, look at Roxy, she’s very Roguish. So it’d be a case by case basis, and not with all Classes.

you and @revolutionarydeulist say that Knight's and Page's serve or are served their aspects but if Serve also means to give then don't Rogue's do that? taking their aspect to give to others

It’s part of the scale, too. The Creation and Destruction pairs seem sort of of mutually exclusive. The Serve and Steal pairs have some overlap, in which to Serve something you must take it from somewhere, and once you take something you can offer it, but there’s still a distinction. And then you have the Know and Change pairs, which have a lot of overlap, given Knowledge of something and how to Manipulate it kind of go hand in hand.

Do we know how the Felt got from the dead session to the Trolls universe?

It’s likely, being the Minions of the Lord of Time from a Dead Session, that English maybe can just summon them at will? Or maybe it’s Scratch’s doing. They also have an ‘escape hatch’ through the Juju Clock into Scratch’s Office, so maybe there’s that.

but knowing your followers someone will probably try

“A Codpiece out of Flesh.” Buddy.

How does sgrub differ from sburb? Mechanics-wise and installation.

Would any other trolls be able to play sburb?

Exact same game. SBURB was coded by Skaianet personnel, SGRUB by Sollux. That’s it. Same program, so no reason why one couldn’t play another. Hell, the cherubs play one of the two programs from an entirely different Universe.

what is light's deal regarding luck? vriska seems to deal heavily in luck, but do rose or aranea really all that much?

Luck and Fortune are related to Light, it’s just a thing that’s tied to it. You could say relevant outcomes could be considered fortunate, or how sometimes what needs to happen seems to do so by chance. But Luck doesn’t exactly matter does it? Terezi tossed her Coin, and there was only going to be a single outcome- The one that favored Vriska. A stroke of luck, a fated roll, no variable could ever change the immutable fact that Vriska was too lucky to lose a Toin Coss. And yet? It didn’t serve a purpose, because the true deciding factor of the Timeline, was what Terezi would do. “You make your own Luck.” While a thing of substance in the Setting of Homestuck, when dealing with inevitability, is there a thing such as Luck? You could play perfectly, and still lose. Because that’s just how Paradox Space is.

Aranea does seem to have a Lucky 8r8k at one point, but Rose is less concerned with Light as Luck. Mindfang WAS a Gamblignant though, she did use Light as Luck a lot.

Can you even make a universe in a single player session or will you just live forever in the medium since you gain unconditional immortality?

You cannot create a Universe in a Dead Session. We also don’t quite know if EVERY Dead Session grants you Inconditional Immortality if you win. I think it does, though, merely because I think Dead Sessions are a Trap.

Like, they’re a Punishment for people starting such a Session. We know that much. They’re made basically unwinnable, and Caliborn only managed because he was a Lord of Time AND also had extreme luck during the First Break, giving him an edge with three less planets to take care of. Otherwise even he would have failed, arguably. Now, however, the thing is, once you beat the Session… What do you do? You cannot create a new Universe. The Furthest Ring is Vast and, before Feferi, there weren’t even Bubbles, so there’s the chance of wandering an Endless Void Forever. And Inconditional Immortality means you couldn’t even die, any way, ever. Just like the Black Hole at the core of the Dead Session, I like to think Dead Sessions are prisons- You’re fated for death, and if you miraculously survive, you will face an eternity of absolutely Nothing at all.

Of course, given the Kids went in to Caliborn with the Retcon Powers, and then sucked his Soul out into the Furthest Ring, he was spared such an eternal fate. Truly a Lord of Time.

Do you think young Handmaid was strong enough to knock Doc Scratch out, or Scratch would have easily stopped young Handmaid with his Green-sun powers?

Power-wise, not even close, Scratch could handle having the surface of his head stabbed by Magic Needles without even flinching, and could easily overpower her with his abilities.

Physically though? Maybe. He’s a squishy, 4′ tall Puppet. I bet she could shake him around a bit if she got past his First Guardian Powers somehow.

Has anyone ever attempted to rank the homestuck kids and trolls strongest to least strongest like who would beat who in a fight (excluding most of the dancestors due to lack of data) I'm like... SO CURIOUS

Much like with Classpects, this is extremely dependant on the situation. For example, in a 1 on 1 fight, Vriska, a Thief, a God Tier, and with her Fluorite Octet, should absolutely destroy Terezi, a Seer, not a God Tier, and with a sword cane. Buuut, Vriska’s cockiness and confidence led to her being back-stabbed. So Terezi won even though physically, Vriska would likely be the better fighter. And THAT is the issue- When you pair two people against each other in a vacuum, you can get accurate results. But you’re never in a Vacuum. Terezi would never go unprepared to face Vriska, that’s the reality, and if they were going to fight, rather than backstabbing her, she would come in with a plan to take her down. The same is true for every Character in Homestuck. What they are doing, their confidence, their current powers, what they’re fighting for, if there are interlopers, it’s impossible to gauge who could beat who because… Everyone could beat everyone, given the right circumstances.

Is it possible to have species like Trolls and Cherubs as your consorts or natives of your land?

Not quite likely. Even Caliborn, in a Dead Session, who got Leprechauns as allies, these were minions unrelated to the Consorts, we see even he gets Herptiles in his planets.

because atoms are mostly nothing, could a witch of void manipulate atoms and by extensions everything?

Not the atom itself, BUT I could see a Witch of Void maybe reducing the space between Atoms to the point of kickstarting a Nuclear Fusion.

would a prince of space, someone who destroys space, have powers akin to Roxys? Like they could destroy the space and make something in its place?

Nope, they’d have to be a Prince of Void, and even then the Prince’s powers are more direct and blunt than the Rogue’s, so it’s likely even then they wouldn’t be able to quite match what a Rogue could do.

Is the WarriorMale blog simply Dirk Strider

I would say more Jake English, but I may need a second opinion.

Is the WarriorMale blog simply Dirk Strider

rileytato:

homestuckexamination:

I would say more Jake English, but I may need a second opinion.

you’re all wrong it’s equius

As much as I like Equius, his Classism and fetishistic masochism don’t exactly fit WarriorMale’s style.

However, a friend pointed out, how wrong I was. I want to formally retract my statement that Jake’d be closer to WarriorMale.

It’s Dad.

So what about Consorts from another Universe? All the consorts are based on species Native to Earth, so what about amphibious Lusi?

Terezi and Tavros show statues of Crocodiles and Iguanas, but again, if you feel the 4 species of Consorts we’ve canonically seen is too limiting, as long as they’er Herptiles, it should be fine.

so hold on, are there other sessions going on on earth at the same time as the beta kids' that might result in the successful creation of a universe, sans the responsibility of being the ones to defeat lord english? if so, would their players be created by ectobiology and sent to earth on meteors from their own sessions' reckonings? would their ghosts be able to appear in the dream bubbles? are all the sessions that other kids may start played by regular human kids and/or always doomed to fail?

The only Session that has Players made through Ectobiology is the Kids’ Session. Ectobiology is the way the game ensures it’ll be played in the first place, so it can send the Temple in the first place and kickstart everything. That being said, SBURB’s specifications are so… Specific, that the great great GREAT majority of people playing the game are doomed to fail by design. However, it IS possible that there could be a Session that wins and makes a separate Universe, but chances are extremely low, and without the Final Frog (Jade’s), it would also create a Cancerous Universe like Karkat’s.

Bubbles, though, it’s hard to tell because, Bubbles are made by Feferi, for her Friends, soooo… It’s hard to say if anyone outside from the people in the Universe A-B-C Session chain even knows about the Bubbles, let alone be able to access them.

The kid's consort species are all specifically herptiles with aquatic species, which I've always assumed is a way to make them thematically closer to frogs. In a way, they're all amphibians, cause while they're not all in the taxonomic group Amphibia (salamanders are though), they all live both on land and in water, which is the broad meaning of the word. But obviously peope can do whatever they want with headcanons and fan sessions :)

Yeah! If you wanna break canon like, nothing stopping you, and there’s a lot of fun ideas to be had and developed through bending the rules of canon. However if you’re looking for the most likely canon scenario, chances are if there’s even more than just the 4 types of Consorts we see, they’re gonna still be Herptiles.

It’s not a coincidence either, that they’re Frogs and as close to Amphibians as possible, it’s all a reference to Abraxas. “He is the lord of toads and frogs, who live in water and come out unto the land, and who sing together at high noon and at midnight.“ So you could make a case for anything that lives in the water and comes out unto the land?

Do you know of any sites with lists of herptiles? For reference purposes. I have no idea what makes a herptile a herptile, and honestly when I read, it my brain processes it as herp (like herp derp) + reptile. Thanks ahead of time!

Herptiles are just the classification of “Reptiles + Amphibians”.

once you kill or make the choice with your denizen, do imps and such stop spawning? If they're created by the denizen. And if so, does that mean that after dealing with them, there's no way (or very few ways) to get more grist? I guess after getting the horde it's not that important.

Arguably they SHOULD stop spawning? You need the Grist Horde for the Ultimate Alchemy, so I wonder if you can access it at all after the Genesis Frog has been created. Hmmm. Quite unclear!

How would a muse of breath interact with their power and environement ?

There’s different ways it could go, really. Commanding Freedom, Commanding the Plot, but as a Muse, it feels like they’d be a McGuffin themselves? Setting up the series of events that’d drive the plot, or perhaps even being completely alien to what’s going on while still being relevant to the story somehow! With Detachment specially, feels like they may be somewhat unrelated or even uncaring to what’s going on, while holding all the answers at the same time? That’s my first vibe though, but Breath, with a Master Class, is a dense combination that could go in a lot of different directions.

how close did the trolls live in relation to each other? some are close, like vriska with terezi and equius, but others have got to be far away, like eridan and feferi from everyone else. is the full extent of where they all live ever established in canon?

We don’t actually know how close Terezi and Vriska actually lived to each other- They did FLARP together, but Vriska also had a ship so like. It could still be a ways away. Vriska is Equius’ neighbour, Feferi and Eridan live relatively close as well, Nepeta and Equius live extremely far apart, Sollux and Aradia live a bit away from each other but still close enough that you can see his apartment from her place, annnd… I believe that’s all we know.

What if your dreamself is already dead and you die on your sacrificial slab/quest crypt with your real self. Will your real self rise to godtier?

Yes. Jake English.

Would it be possible to do a pacifist run of Sburb and never kill an imp?

I mean… Yes? But you would also be a hindrance to your team since they’d need to Torrent you all the Grist you’d need, you’d need to nail the Choice, and then you’d not contribute to any of the Derse Royalty Fights at all.

Why is act one of hiveswap called Kansas city shuffle? I mean shoot, I've BEEN to Kansas city multiple times and I can't figure it out. Is that where the kids live??

Kansas City Shuffle is a con tactic where they make you believe you’re being deceived in a different way you actually are, so you lower your guard thinking you’ve caught their trick. Additionally, it’s a Wizard of Oz Reference. “I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore.”

Yo! Do you have any info on what a page of life would be able to do? (Also my friend who moved away in Kentucky was finally able to contact me!! +:) )

Over here!

Did you see the loading bar at the bottom of the hiveswap website

It’s actually an empty News Box! Seems there may be a News Update soon.

Either that or an April Fools joke.
